This listing is for a 2009 Mini Cooper Base 1.6L, this vehicle has approximately 64000 miles.  My wife and I bought this vehicle for our daughter from a seller in Clearwater, Florida on March 2013. Shortly after purchasing the car, I discovered the thermostat on the vehicle had a small leak causing the engine to overheat. The vehicle was towed to the dealership and it was suggested that I replace the engine. I contacted the seller who happens to be a mechanic for Mini of Tampa who agreed to do the headgasket job on the car. The head cylinder was skimmed and head gasket was replaced. The car rode fine until suddenly now I am having a misfiring issue. I have avoided driving the car to avoid further damage.

I have not had a diagnostic check done on the vehicle. There is no check engine light on the dash. After the headgasket job was done, I replaced the following: I bought a brand new key and had it programmed. I changed the rear brake pads, I purchased the front ones but I did not install them due the ones on the vehicle have plenty of life left. I will provide the brake pads for the front. I purchased 4 brand new tires. The water pump, pipe, and thermostat were replaced with the updated version since this was a known problem with Mini. The coils and spark plugs were replaced. I also purchased a refurbished valvetronic actuator since it was recommended by the dealership. The windows on the car were also tinted. I originally purchased the car for $10,000 but have invested $3000 in repairs. Once the car started to misfire, my wife and I decided to let the car go to someone knowledgeable with vehicle repairs.

The interior of this vehicle is in excellent shape. There are no stains, tears, or rips. The car has never been smoked in.

The roof does need to be painted, overall the car looks in great shape.

The carfax shows there was a minor accident when it belonged to the first owner. I am the 3rd. This car is for sale locally. Please contact me if you have any questions. Buyer is responsible for checking the vehicle prior to purchase. I have disclosed everything wrong with this vehicle. I prefer to have a buyer who is local in the area that can inspect the vehicle prior to purchase. This is a cash transaction.

2014 Mini Cooper S

Fri, 27 Jun 2014

One of the big challenges as an automotive journalist is reviewing cars that you have a personal connection to. I have a strong passion for Minis. My first new car was a 2004 Cooper S, and I still own a 2006 model. It's this affinity that's left me with a general disdain of the 2007 to 2013 model relative to my first-gen.
The last-generation cars, with their turbocharged engines, softer suspensions, duller steering and homelier looks are, in my mind, inferior to their 2002 to 2006 predecessors. As a car reviewer, though, I couldn't in good conscience argue the same point. The R56, as the last-gen cars were known internally and by enthusiasts, was a better-balanced vehicle that retained the lion's share of the abilities and character of the first-generation, R53 Cooper S, but they were better thought out, better designed, more livable, and felt like more complete products.
Before the third-generation of the reborn Mini Cooper S landed in my driveway, I couldn't help but wonder whether the model would continue its slide towards mass appeal, or if it would re-embrace the enthusiast realm with a stronger driver-focused mission. As I found out during my week with the car, it was a bit of both.

Mini Clubman Concept isn't mini, isn't a Clubman

Wed, 05 Mar 2014

Hey, remember when Mini was... mini? I know, you've heard all this before. But seriously.
Take this new Mini Clubman Concept, for example. As you'll recall, the current Clubman slots in between the Hardtop and Countryman models in the Mini lineup. But because the new, third-generation Mini has grown, so has everything else. And in fact, the concept car seen here is actually 4.4 inches longer and just over 2 inches wider than the current, already-large Countryman. The future of Mini looks awfully maxi.
Furthermore, the Clubman as we know it uses a weird, five-door layout (two up front, a third, suicide door, and two barn doors out back), but this concept adds a sixth door for a decidedly more conventional layout. Of course, four real doors for passengers sort of takes the uniqueness out of the Clubman package, and essentially makes this thing a not-as-tall, front-wheel-drive Countryman. Totally necessary, right?

Get lost in Evo's sublime 2013 Car of the Year testing

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

Every year Evo stages its Car of the Year test, bringing the best performance cars in the world to one location for an epic shootout. This year the magazine pitted eight CotY finalists against each other on Route Napoleon in Southern France - Evo claims it's the "best road in the world" - and then proceeded to nitpick the smallest of faults on each car until the winner could be named. You see, this year's lineup of machines was just so good that only one car obviously wasn't CotY material from the get-go. Can you guess which one judging from the list below?
- Aston Martin V12 Vantage S
- Audi R8 V10 Plus
