1984 AUSTIN MINI 25   with 49, 000 miles.  Twenty Fifth anniversary edition.  Restored over the past 10 years to near perfect overall condition.  1100cc / 4cyl engine and compartment in excellent condition.  Pains taken near perfect paint work in silver/blue metallic.  Interior extremely clean with no worn spots or stains.  Custom interior handles, wood shift knob, and wood emergency brake handle.  Automatic transmission is real nice with RHD and snappy.  Alloy wheels and tires in great condition.  Wheels spats in black add perfect accent to a stunning appearance that gets actually too many people looking and wanting to talk to you.  Vehicle was recently driven in London suburb and still has a current strict operation safety inspection MOT.  Mfg'd in August 1984 and driven by me while in the UK.  I reluctantly need to replace it with a larger commute vehicle that can stay outside.  Do not have the heart to store outside and drive in Minnesota winters.  Currently registered in Minnesota.

Delivery may be possible along Interstate 35 between Houston and Minneapolis.  Call me if you have any questions at 320-253-7403.  A non-refundable deposit of $100.00 is required via PayPal within 24 hours of auction end and the balance to be paid in cash must be received at time of pickupPick up must be within 10 days of auction end, unless other arrangements are made with seller.  This vehicle is sold "as is" with no warranty.  Viewing recommended and I will allow an inspection person to closely look over the condition of the vehicle.  Please contact me with any questions.
Please note that because this is an English import the VIN listing page will only recognize it to be 1980.  This is a 1984 model as stated on the registration.

2014 Mini Cooper goes to the dogs

Tue, 17 Dec 2013

We wouldn't buy a car to make a dog happy, but Mini's latest commercial, Bullheaded, would have you believe that dogs like the new 2014 Cooper as much as humans. Regardless of the commercial's target audience (Spike The Bulldog, or his owner?), it does show a couple new tidbits about the car, such as the new center dial touchscreen, ambient lighting and the nifty tinted pop-up display on top of the dashboard that reminds us of the head-up display on the new Mazda3.
Head below to watch Spike and his owner drive the Mini in Downtown Los Angeles (and the back lots of Paramount), and to get a behind-the-scenes look at how the commercial was made.

Mini stretches out with new Hardtop 4 door [w/video] [UPDATE]

Thu, 05 Jun 2014

UPDATE: Information on US availability, specification and nomenclature added to the updated text below.
Few automakers have managed to spin off as many variants of essentially one vehicle as Mini has. The second generation produced even more versions than the first, and now that the third generation is upon us, the process is starting all over again. The jury may still be out on whether parent company BMW will roll out as many body-styles of this latest Mini as it did with the last, but here's our first indication.
Following the introduction of the new three-door Mini hatchback at the LA Auto Show, the Anglo-Saxon marque has introduced a new five-door model. Or four-door, depending on which Mini office you're speaking to: while this new model - an addition to the lineup and not a direct replacement for anything previously offered - is called the Mini 5 door by the factory, here in the US it's called the Mini Hardtop 4 door. Whatever you call it, though, this new Mini is essentially the same as the three-door model (or two-door model with a tailgate), only with - you guessed it - two extra doors. The new Clubman will be a separate model altogether.

2015 Mini Cooper Hardtop officially revealed

Mon, 18 Nov 2013

There are occasions in life when something happens in the outside world and I think, "Damn. I wish Dad was here so we could talk about this."
In the past 13 years, that's happened every time Mini unveils a new model. And that's been quite often in the 12 years since the car was reintroduced - it has expanded to include seven different models, which is a testament to how quickly the updated Mini caught on. My Dad, who passed away in 1996, loved the brand. His first car was a Mini, and he'd race it in illegal rallies around the Irish countryside in his 20s, before he emigrated to the US and tried to (mostly) stay on the right side of the law.
Mini released photos and specs for the third-generation "original" hardtop car today. The company had to slap in the term "original" in there to differentiate it from the Convertible, longer-wheelbase Clubman, Countryman crossover, Paceman three-door crossover, Coupe and Roadster. Coming out with that many nameplates in 13 years is unprecedented growth for a company that's essentially brand-new in the US.
