1954 Mercury Monterey Base 4.2l on 2040-cars
Lodi, California, United States
You are bidding on a 1954 Mercury Monterey sedan with a 256 engine and a 4 barrel teapot carburetor. This Mercury has a 3 speed manual transmission on the column. It is 100% complete. The only things not original are the electric fuel pump and the exterior paint. The carburetor was just rebuilt. I also put an 8 volt battery in it and readjusted the voltage regulator. This vehicle starts every single time, it runs and drives great. I put brand new white wall tires on it about 500 miles ago. Exterior and interior are in great shape as well. The back bumper was just re-chromed and is on the vehicle. I have a ton of extra parts. I have an extra 2 piece front bumper with the bullets all are re-chromed and still in the plastic. I also have the 6 pins for the side all re-chromed. All 4 door handles re-chromed. Brand new taillight lens with seals. Both brand new front and rear window seals. All 4 new door seals in plastic. An extra instrument panel. A bunch of extra chrome pieces and badges. 3 Extra hubcaps. An extra radio. 2 extra complete wing windows and 2 extra glass for the wing window. Extra windshield wipers and gravel guards. I have the original book that came with the vehicle. Over $19,000 spent on car. $3,200 spent alone on chrome. I have clear title in hand. I can deliver if close enough. Any questions please call me at (209) 747-6082. My name is Joe. NO RESERVE |

eBay Find of the Day: Craterface's '49 Mercury convertible from Grease
Wed, 29 Jan 2014Here is your chance to own your very own piece of greased lightning. Well, not the Greased Lighting, it's actually the black, flamed 1949 Mercury convertible that races against John Travolta in the classic 1978 movie Grease, and it's for auction on eBay Motors.
While it appeared in the film's exciting drag race in a Los Angeles storm drain, the hot rod was reportedly lost until last year, when the seller found it as a shell. He verified that it was the actual car with original builder, Eddie Paul, and sent the car for a complete restoration.
The auction includes original parts like the exhaust tips used in the movie and bent bumper from when it hit Travolta's car in the scene. The restorer recreated the scorpion stickers on the doors, razor hubcaps and license plate. He also installed a 1949 Mercury 255-cubic-inch (4.2-liter), flathead V8 and three-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
Fitting Retirement: Grand Marquis last Mercury off the line
Wed, 05 Jan 2011The signs have come down and retail production ended back in October of 2010. Now, the very last Mercury model has rolled off the assembly line. This last Mercury somewhat fittingly takes the form of a Grand Marquis reporting for fleet duty. It was built at the St. Thomas plant in Ontario, Canada, which is the same facility that continues to produce the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car for fleet and livery duty.
St. Thomas' days are numbered, however, as the factory is slated to close on August 31. When it goes, the Panther platform is likely to follow. So long, and thanks for all the fish memories.

eBay Find of the Day: Mercury Marauder two-door convertible
Wed, 31 Aug 2011Never underestimate what you'll see on eBay Motors. Take this unique creation, for example. Near as we can tell, it's the same 2002 Mercury Marauder that was modified into a two-door convertible by Ford for the 2002 Chicago Auto Show. According to the seller, this car still boasts its Eaton supercharger bolted to a 4.6-liter V8 engine, and at the time of its debut, the engine was rated at a lofty 335 horsepower. We have a hard time believing that the extra ponies would do much to offset the weight of the additional frame stiffeners and top mechanism on the car, however.
The vehicle is currently offered for sale by a dealer in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, though the listing is mum on how the convertible managed to make its way from Ford's Windy City show stand into the seller's inventory. If you like what you see, the machine can be yours for the princely sum of $75,000 or best offer. Head over to eBay Motors to take a gander at the listing.
