Location:

Mayville, Michigan, United States

Mayville, Michigan, United States

1964 Mercury Comet Caliente K-Code 289 4 bl 2 door hardtop. bucket seats with console.

I received this car on a trade so I will tell you the information I was told. the car was built in Los Angeles Ca and spent half of its life on the west coast.

then was purchased and moved to Ohio where it stayed for 15 years then it was sold to the person I got the car from who said he had the car for 10 years.

the car is very original with the original k-code 289 and c4 trans and the original rear end and It does look to be all original. the car was yellow mist with

palomino bucket seat interior when built in 1964. the previous owner had the car painted red and black in 9-13 and said the interior was changed to

black in 1998.the vin numbers match on the inner fender and the door plate. the paint is not a great job and was not wet sanded so I wet sanded

the hood and the top of the fenders and it cleaned up ok. the floors have a couple of patches and the trunk is very solid. it is not a show car it starts up and

runs very good. before it can be on the road it will need brake work exhaust work and tires. has a new battery. gas tank was cleaned and sealed. it has 14''

cragers that look to be in very nice shape. everything works all lights inside and out. wipers work heater works. radio is original and does not work.

interior  and carpet are very clean and need very little attention. body is in good shape with all trim intact. glass is very good no chips or cracks

all side windows work great. the steering wheel is not original and I do not have original. the underside needs some work someone in the past

has worked on the rear torque boxes and the sub frame rails. needs some more work. the front inner fender wells need some work. the pictures look

worse then it really is. the dash is not cut anywhere could use new dash pad. I will not guarantee the 289 is original since I can't check the block

numbers. it has a edelbrock carb that is to big for the motor. I was told the motor was rebuilt with a mild cam in 2013. that's all I know about the car and vin number is posted so you can look up any info you might need. bumpers are in great shape no dings or dents could use chrome.

Ford Recalling 70k Escape and Mariner Hybrids for cooling issue

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Ford is recalling about 70,209 examples of the 2005-2008 Ford Escape Hybrid and the 2006-2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid because the cooling pumps for their hybrid systems could fail.
According to the company's defect notice, it's possible for the original "Motor Electronics Coolant (MEC) Pump" to wear out and fail, which would could cause the hybrid system to overheat. If this happens, the vehicle goes into a safety mode that takes away most or all of its power. However, braking and steering still operate normally. After cooling down, the affected models restart normally. The company says that it's not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem.
Ford will begin repairing the vehicles in late October, and dealers will be installing improved, brushless pumps on the affected models at no charge to owners. If drivers had their pumps fail before this recall, they can contact Ford for a possible reimbursement. Scroll down to read the recall announcement from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or download the full defect notice as a PDF, here.

Translogic drives wood-burning Mercury Beaver XR-7

Sun, 31 Jul 2011

You read the title right, we're talking about the Mercury Beaver XR-7. No, Mercury never officially built a car called the beaver. This is the brainchild of upstate New Yorker Chip Beam, who owns and operates Beaver Energy, LLC. It runs on gases created by wood pellets fermented in a 2,400-degree furnace and fed to a supercharged Ford 4.6-liter V8.
By all accounts, it gets down the road just fine, and has pretty close to full power. The best part is, you can grow the fuel yourself and avoid patronizing big oil, if that's your thing. The only drawback that we can see to the Mercury Beaver XR-7 is the PVC pipe jungle occupying the space that would be the trunk under normal circumstances.
Still, if you're willing to smell like a mountain man and look like a bad Back to the Future knockoff, this ride is right up your alley. Click past the jump to see Translogic's take on this modified Merc.

Ford recalling 126,000 Fusions and Milans over wheel separation concern

Fri, 09 Dec 2011

Ford has announced a recall of certain Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan vehicles after an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. A total of 128,616 2010 and 2011 models equipped with steel wheels may have been manufactured with wheel studs that could crack and split over time. If that happens, the vehicle may experience a wheel separation.
According to The Detroit News, the company is aware of a total of 30 wheel separation incidents, one of which occurred on the front of the vehicle. Even so, no injuries have been reported as a result of the defect.
The problem apparently stems from the fact that the mounting pads on the vehicles' steel wheels may have been faulty from the factory. In addition, the wheel mounting face on rear disc brakes may not have been installed properly. Ford will inspect the rear disc face and replace them as necessary. In addition, the company will replace all of the vehicle's wheel studs free of charge. Head to the NHTSA website for more information, and click past the jump to view the full recall notice.
