First let me say I love this car but I love my wife more and she wants a new house and tells me one of my cars must go. I need my Audi A8L for work so that means the SL55 has to go. I wish I did not have to sell it and I am trying to find another way to cover the down payment on the new house but anyway let me tell you about the car. (smile) You have to see the color of this car they call it Pewter Metallic but it is really beautiful and looks like a silver light brown combination that you just have to see. The seats look gray. This car's original MSRP was about $125,000.00. options on the car are Panorama Roof ($1800.00) Distronic Adaptive Cruise Control ($2,950.00) Parktronic Parking Assistant ($1,035.00) Keyless Go ($1,015.00) Active Ventilated Seats ($1,200.00) Bi-Xenon Headlamps ($900.00) Tire Pressure Monitoring System ($650.00). The car also has the wind screen for the roll bar. If you are looking for a 2003 SL55 AMG I can promise you you will not be disappointed if you take a look at this one. It has been serviced at the local Mercedes dealer since I purchased it. Oh and let me say this don't be surprised if I do not seem very happy when you purchase it from me. Gullwing America turns SLS AMG Roadster into stunning 1955 300 SC redux
Thu, 14 Feb 2013Gullwing America specializes in what it calls "retro styling meets modern technology." It's next demonstration of that is the convertible above, a stylized recreation of the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SC (inset) supported by the structure of a 2012 SLS AMG Roadster. Commissioned by a client in Eastern Europe, the resulting car is called the 300 SLC.
The hand-formed aluminum bodywork required just a few changes to the SLS AMG Roadster, namely reworking the headlights into a stacked arrangement of LEDs and relocating the pop-up spoiler behind the cabin. The retro grille and long, straight hood evoke the past, the custom exhaust, height-adjustable suspension, 21-inch wheels up front and 22-inch wheels in back, however, stray a little further from history. The 300 SLC will come with a hardtop and be one-of-a-kind, making it even rarer than its inspiration, of which 92 were made.

VW looking to MAN up, ditch Mercedes van deal
Wed, 16 Jan 2013Unlike the US, the commercial truck market throughout the rest of the world is chocked full of competitors from many different automakers. Since 2006, Volkswagen has had a fullsize van called the Crafter that was a result of a partnership with Daimler AG and based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. This partnership is supposed to last through 2016, but Reuters is reporting that VW might be looking to end its relationship with Daimler and create its own van in cooperation with German truck and bus maker MAN.
The article says that VW AG has more than a 75-percent stake in MAN, which would essentially be keeping the new commercial vehicle in-house. Even if VW bolts, Daimler still has a deal worked out in the commercial truck industry between its subsidiary Mitsubishi Fuso and Renault-Nissan to supply the other with different trucks.
Aston or Bust? Maybach's fate to be decided next month

What will become of Maybach? That question has been rattling around the halls of Daimler headquarters in Stuttgart for some time now. But all questions will be answered, and answered soon: according to reports, the German automaker is currently evaluating prototypes and propositions for its top-end marque, and will make its decision next month.
So, what are the options? On the one hand, Daimler could kill the Maybach brand altogether. It was a notion ill conceived and even more poorly executed, taking an old platform and building a new flagship atop it. In that way, it was sort of like the Chrysler Crossfire, only far more costly to both the buyer and manufacturer. On the other hand, Daimler could opt for the long-time-coming proposition of contracting the production (and possibly much of the development) of a new generation of Maybachs to Aston Martin.
