Mercedes Benz - 1988 560sl No Reserve!! on 2040-cars
Winder, Georgia, United States
Up for sale is a Beautiful 1988 560SL! I am the fifth owner and I bought this car as a light restoration project and a weekend car. I have since become extremely busy and have moved twice with this car. I am traveling a lot now and may be moving again soon. I would like to pass this beautiful classic along to the next owner because I do not have the time to put into it anymore and I hate to see it sit and not get repaired or driven. The interior is in great condition with minor expected leather cracking and two rips from wear in the divers' seat. One rip in in the rear passenger seat panel from the top safety arm and the other is in the drivers' seat bolster. Minor leather cracking in the armrest and seat. The car drives like a dream! Engine starts right up! It is a rare 2+2, which are becoming increasingly more difficult to find. Every option was added to this car in 1988. Wooden gear shift knob, cup holder in drivers door and a Blaupunkt Madison CD127 are a few of these options. Only 137,564 miles. The paint is in immaculate shape and has a great shine. It is the original Fire engine red factory color with palomino interior and a Black cloth soft top. Comes with both HARD and SOFT top. This car has some rust issues that can be repaired. German engineering at its finest! Car was NOT garaged for a SHORT period of time during a move, but has been garaged otherwise since owned. You can fly out or drive and road trip this car home or have it shipped! NO RESERVE!! Happy Bidding.
Will accept payment through Paypal, Cashiers Check, Personal Check or Cash at pick-up. Vehicle will only be released once payment has cleared. *All numbers match and information is correct. **Buyer is responsible for shipping and/or pick-up. ***I own the right to remove this vehicle from auction and from eBay at anytime. As I have the car for sale locally and allow people to look at it and drive it when i am home. |

Chris Harris and David Coulthard wring out a Mercedes Fintail at the N"urburgring
Thu, 17 Oct 2013If there's one thing we've learned from the latest video from Drive, it's that the combination of Chris Harris and David Coulthard will produce some very quotable moments. Take this exchange, for example.
DC: "We are by some way the slowest."
CH: "But we're in a class of three cars, apparently."
Mercedes releases 6x6 G63 AMG specs and pics [w/video]
Fri, 15 Mar 2013Mercedes-Benz has finally dropped full details on its insane G63 AMG 6x6. The machine puts 544 horsepower to all six wheels thanks to a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8. A seven-speed gearbox shuttles power to the ground via three sets of portal axles, which helps give this machine a full 15.75 inches of ground clearance. By comparison, the standard G63 AMG sits with just 8.27 inches of ground clearance. The extra lift allows this 6x6 to ford nearly 40 inches of water and run massive 37-inch tires. All told, there are five differential locks on this thing, all controlled by a special "locking logic" that provides the best traction possible for any given situation.
The controls offer up three stages of locking, which we can only assume range from JKLOL to OMGWTF. Right now, AMG says this monstrosity is only a show vehicle, but we imagine it wouldn't take much to convince the team to whip up one of your very own. Check out our full gallery and the press release below for all the nitty gritty. While you're down there, you can also check out the video on the machine one more time.
Edmunds ranks the best used cars for 2013
Sun, 15 Sep 2013When people ask us what car we would recommend for them, it's usually not easy to answer. To make a useful recommendation we must consider which of the numerous vehicle segments fits their needs best, and then choose one of the many vehicles offered in each segment. For some people, new cars don't meet their expectations of value, because they lose so much of it the moment they are purchased and driven off the dealer lot. For them, there's always the used-car market, where great deals can be found, but cars' histories of reliability and maintenance records - and perhaps that Certified Pre-Owned warranty - become ever-important factors playing into purchase choice.
To help out, Edmunds has done us the favor of assembling a list of the best used vehicles money can buy, covering model years 2006-2011, according to what it considers the most important criteria when shopping for used autos: reliability, safety, value and availability. That means unreliable, unsafe, super-expensive or limited-edition models don't appear on the list, but instead cars from each segment that are more likely to satisfy the general population.
There are some real goodies on the list, including but not limited to vehicles such as the capable Honda Fit, the cultish Honda Accord coupe (which can be had with a 240-horsepower V6 and a six-speed manual transmission some years), and the powerful Chevrolet Corvette. While Edmunds' choice of the Volvo C70 for best used convertible baffled us at first (not that it's a bad car), it redeemed itself by stating that the Mazda MX-5 still is an unofficial top choice if you don't require more than two seats.
