The iconic Mercedes 560 SL endures.
This 560 is a wonderful example from the last year of the 18 year model run.  The build quality and an enduring design are all the hallmarks of the 560 SL.  The production numbers in 1989 were 8251, with a sticker price of $64,230.00.  Red exterior and a beautiful tan leather interior is trimmed with lovely Burlwood.  You have three options to help you enjoy your driving experience; a hard top that creates the feel of a coupe, a black soft top and of course, open air.  This car remains untouched (original paint, soft top, interior, etc.), with no modifications including the original Becker Grand Prix radio.  With only two owners, 16,494 miles and having been very well maintained, this car is like having a new 1989 SL.  The car has spent its 24 years in south Texas, driven for pleasure and of course, always garaged.  It's not just another pretty face, it runs and performs as a Mercedes should, with no faults (cold A/C and all features functioning correctly).  A complete set of owner's booklets (see photo) and tools are included with the SL.  We have lightly buffed and applied 22 PLE Glass to its already beautiful paint.  A new factory correct muffler has been installed.
This is a chance to own a wonderful, best of the model run, classic Mercedes-Benz sports car.  It will be enjoyed, can be shown and will continue to maintain a good dollar value.  In 2012, at an RM Auction in Arizona, a similar car sold for $38,500.00.
The body and paint are in very good to excellent condition with only two small imperfections.  On the right front wheel well lip there is a small dent (see photos).  The left rear wheel well lip has an imperfection just above the lip (can not be seen easily in the photo).
Addition photos are available on request.

The 560 SL is also available on other web sites and locally.  Central Classic Cars reserves the right to end this auction before it closes.

Mercedes A45 AMG in downhill battle with slipstream skateboarder

Mon, 30 Sep 2013

We're told it takes "performance, control and expression" to pilot a longboard skateboard down a mountain road, and that those happen to be the same values embodied in the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG. That's how the two came to be combined in a black-and-white short film called Silver Slipstream.
There's no talking, no engine note and no color, just some music, a 'boarder and a car on a long cruise down the Franschhoek Pass in the Western Cape of South Africa." Despite that, it's actually a pretty entertaining video of the latest Mercedes-Benz hot hatch married with extreme sports. You can watch how it all goes down in the video below.

New Die Hard movie wrecked 132 cars in $11 million chase scene [w/video]

Sat, 16 Feb 2013

It would seem the act of dying hard brings with it lots of wanton destruction of the four-wheeled kind. According to John Moore, director of A Good Day To Die Hard, starring Bruce Willis, There were 132 (cars) that could never be used again. Another 518 required a lot of work. And damn right there were some good cars there... That's the fun of it."
Please join us in one great big collective sigh. Done? Okay, let's continue.
"With Die Hard it's about how audacious the action is," says Moore. "So you have to drive over a Lamborghini. An actual one. And yes it hurts me. I'm a car fanatic." Yeah. Sounds like it hurt really bad... though not as bad as the final tally after all the carnage had been counted: "Someone showed me the numbers on the car chase and soup to nuts, you put it all together it was like an $11 million sequence."

Test drive the Mercedes SLS AMG Electric Drive with Chris Harris

Thu, 11 Apr 2013

It's hard to not like the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT. The all-aluminum coupe is fitted with a wonderful naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 delivering 583 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. Not only does the burly combustion engine launch the two-seater to 60 miles per hour in less than four seconds, but it does so with one of the world's greatest exhaust soundtracks as it roars, burbles and cackles down the road.
But what happens when Mercedes-Benz takes away the V8 and its accompanying fire-burning song? Stripped of one of its most appealing assets, does the SLS lose its soul?
Chris Harris recently had the opportunity to take the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive for a track spin in Europe. Sans gasoline, but with four electric motors providing a combined 740 horsepower (737 pound-feet of torque), all-electric all-wheel drive coupe uses sophisticated torque vectoring and a multi-mode operating system to put oversteer - drifting! - back into the equation. Fun? You bet. See for yourself, below.
