Here is 1998 MB SL500 and is the best year for this style Mercedes SL500. The 1998 has a 4 speed transmission with Overdrive. Car is in great shape and is silver with black interior. The hardtop is included as is the soft top. The soft top is in good condition. The car has AM-FM Cassette with 6 disc changer all factory. Heated seats and power everything. The AC works perfectly and the car drives and shifts like new. No fluid leaks of any kind under the car. Over 104K original miles and a clean carfax. New battery install on 07/12/2013, oil change on 05/15/2013, tires and brakes have been installed within one year on all 4 wheels matching. front tires are 225/55R16 and rear tires are 245/50/R16. Car has been well maintained and clean. Some (very few) small dings as is normal for a car this age and front turn signal light is different color since my kid accident break the lamp . Mileage is accurate and low for a 1998 car. This is an extremely reliable car that will give you many years of use. The original price was over $80,000 new. This is a luxury car at a giveaway price. Price includes the removable HARDTOP and windscreen. Bad: windshield washer is not working and high beam. Here is the problem with the high beam, some lost connect on the steering wheel column and probable windshield motor. I did not had a chance to fix these problems I can pick you up at the airport if you desire to drive home with the car. I also got two extra tires size 225/55R16 come with the car if you want it.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels
Thu, 24 Jan 2013The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
SRT Viper dukes it out with Mercedes SLS Black Series in new Head 2 Head
Fri, 05 Jul 2013In Episode 36 of Motor Trend's Head 2 Head, now that the Corvette ZR1 is no more, Jonny Lieberman has to look overseas to the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series for a challenger with similar philosophy to the SRT Viper: long hood hiding a high-horsepower engine set way back, rear-wheel drive, tiny trunks. That puts the Viper's 8.4-liter V10 with 640 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque against the SLS AMG's 6.2-liter V8 with 622 hp and 468 lb-ft.
However, the congruences in philosophy and magnitude of numbers doesn't translate to the driving experiences of the two, which are literally and figuratively on different continents. Lieberman gets a handle on the two of them on Northern California roads, Randy Probst then finds out how, and how quickly, they can lap Laguna Seca.
They both get kudos for being improvements on their original sources, but only one of them can take the win. You can find out by watching the video below.
Daimler buying 12% stake in Beijing Auto
Tue, 19 Nov 2013Daimler and Beijing Automotive are officially going steady, with the German company set to take a 12-percent stake in the Chinese brand tomorrow. The two are already tied up in a Mercedes engine plant in Beijing, of which BAIC will increase its stake in, from 50 to 51 percent. Daimler will also get two seats on the Chinese company's board. BAIC may also gain the ability to produce cars on Mercedes-Benz platforms, according to Automotive News Europe.
The investment in BAIC comes ahead of that company's initial public offering, according to a report form Bloomberg, which indicates the deal will be inked tomorrow in the Chinese capital. According to the report, if the circumstances are right, BAIC may turn around and invest in the Germany company "soon."
It's not entirely clear just how much the 12-percent cut is costing Daimler, although it seems reasonable to assume that, as it's ahead of the IPO, the parent company of Mercedes is getting a bit of a bargain.
