Up for sale is a fully loaded 1997 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Convertible. This is a stunning triple black beauty... This car was sold at The Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas auction in 2012. It was lot #404. Check it out it sold for $25,300.. I am selling it today for a fraction of that.. The car shows in excellent condition, brilliant black paint (some scuffs and chips) and 2 small dings on driver side, not bad for a 16 year old car.. The cars interior is in beautiful condition except for minor wear on bottom part of driver seat back (picture included). The hard top is in near perfect condition except for a small scratch. The soft top is in excellent condition except for a split in the driver side rear small window (picture included). Mechanically it runs great, starts right up, last time at mechanics they told me it had a small power steering leak and transmission fluid leak which was normal for the year and mileage of car. Truthfully neither one has been an issue.. The only other thing not working on car is the passenger side view mirror, but it is at a good height to see traffic.. The car from what I can tell has been smoke free its whole life. It also offers heated seats, 6 CD changer(in trunk), it also has 18" MOMO chrome rims and all books from dealer. Please if you have any other questions on the car feel free to ask, I will try to help answer as best I can. This truly is a beautiful car.. Car is sold as is.. Honestly you will not be disappointed, this car is a real head turner..

Clark Gable's 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing doesn't sell, then does sell for $1.85 million [UPDATE: w/video]
Sat, 19 Jan 2013How much extra value does previous celebrity ownership add to of a car? Really, there's no way to know until the car in question hits the auction block and bidders start raising their hands. In the case of the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing you see above, the celebrity owner is none other than Clark Gable, who purchased it new. After Gable's death in 1960, the car changed hands a few times before settling with Charles Wood in 1975.
A high-dollar restoration was performed in 1989, and period accessories added by Gable himself were kept in place, including the Rudge knock-off wheels and Nardi steering wheel. Any Mercedes-Benz 300SL is worth a big chunk of money. In the case of Clark Gable's old Gullwing, the bidding stalled at $1.9 million here at the 2013 Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale. As one of the 5000-series cars, this 300SL carried a reserve, and a bit of after-the-fact dealmaking saw the car change hands for $1.85 million.

Mercedes-Benz to build new ML coupe-crossover in Alabama in 2015
Fri, 05 Sep 2014Mercedes-Benz will expand its factory in Tuscaloosa, AL, to build the ML Coupe, a new crossover that will join its lineup in 2015. Mercedes will also ramp up production to build facelifted versions of the M-Class and GL-Class SUVs, lifting the factory's total production capacity to about 300,000 units annually in 2015. It made 185,000 vehicles in 2013. In addition to SUVs, the Tuscaloosa site also makes the C-Class sedan.
The plans come as part of Mercedes' strategy to capitalize on Americans' increasing demands for SUVs. The company said the SUV market was up 12 percent in first half of 2014, and expects it to grow at twice the rate of the regular market in 2015 and 2016.

Mercedes FWD platform to last until 2018, convertible and two-seater future uncertain
Mon, 22 Jul 2013Mercedes-Benz seems to be expecting a lot of success from its front-wheel-drive CLA-Class. Automotive News is reporting that the sub-C-Class sedan could grow when its second generation arrives in 2018.
The current FWD platform for MB underpins the CLA, the B-Class, the GLA-Class, and the A-Class. The B-Class will arrive in North America as an EV for spring of 2014, while the production GLA crossover will arrive three to four months after that. The five-door A-Class won't be crossing The Pond. Sad faces all around.
According to AN, another model will be based on the front-drive architecture, but it won't be coming to the US market. Set to arrive next year, rumors are that it'll be a wagon version of the CLA, sort of like the ill-named five-door CLS Shooting Brake that is also a Europe-only item.
