Mercedes Benz 560 SEL W126
1989
Meticulously
maintained highway mileage!
This is an amazing and simply gorgeous condition Mercedes 560 SEL. Finished in white with light grey interior, there is virtually nothing on this example that isn't simply immaculate. The best way to describe this S-class is to pretend you are in 1992 and you are buying a well-kept certified 1989 Mercedes from the authorised dealer. It is that good!
This was a
The car was owned by 2 meticulous Georgia owners who added most of the mileage thru highway driving. Everything works as it should and as pictures show, is in immaculate presentation. Recently serviced and all in working order. All proper services undertaken throughout its life performed by Mercedes Benz, and almost every one recorded in its official Service and Maintenance book (see pictures). Don’t let the miles put you off as these cars do 300,000 miles effortlessly when well maintained. Mechanically the car is fantastic with no known issues. Just a quick look under the hood is testament to how well this Mercedes has been maintained. The AutoCheck report scores a massive 55 out of the range of 15-36 for typical examples.
Every single feature and function works as it
should; electric seats (the back has them too), windows, door locks, sun-roof,
antenna, original Becker radio, A/C, heater, interior and exterior lights, horn
(both high and low).... the complete list. The car has Euro spec headlights
fitted because I deemed the
Body and paint is excellent. Very shiny and consistent with only the most minor chip here in there but nothing noticeable. It appears most of the car is original factory paint. The wheels were removed stripped and powder coated to factory finish and now present as brand new.
The interior is the most stunning aspect of the car as this light grey colour used my Mercedes usually shows all and every imperfection. The seats are perfect. So much so, I am convinced they had seat covers for most of its life. She is in virtually as-new condition with no wear on the seats, console, carpets or headliner. The leather is like a 2-3 year old example, the dash like a new one and the wood is without any fading, lifting, peeling or cracking. Have a close look at the buttons and switch gear; they look like human hands have never touched them. Simply amazing. The rear parcel shelf shows no sign of fade and all the medical accoutrements are in place. She is also a non-smoker car so clean and sweet.
Tyres are brand new whitewalls recently fiited. I think they set the car off nicely but if you dont like them, simply turn them inside out. Same with the Mercedes mud-flaps. These can easily be removed if they are "not you".
Not much more can be said but to invite you to take a close look at the many, many photos of this great Mercedes 560SEL. Truly an immaculate example, I am sure you will agree. Surely amongst one of the better examples available for sale today. A fantastic low-cost luxury driver. If yhou are into the 126 model, you wont find better than this top-of-the-line 560SEL. Please see many, many additional photos at the link below. They are all super high resolution so you can zoom in on any tiny detail or defect.

**PLEASE read auction terms and conditions below BEFORE bidding.** ~~oo00oo~~ This Mercedes is part of a private collection. Although licensed
and bonded, I am not a main-stream retail car dealer or broker; I am a
professional car collector of some 30 years with considerable experience and
knowledge of British cars. I have a long standing reputation being associated
with the Rolls-Royce marque which I take seriously. I take pride in my cars and
have fun in collecting and restoring them. However, auctions are not a game so
when you place a bid or offer, and you are the winning bidder, please
understand you have entered a binding contract. You cannot bid and win the
auction and expect not to meet the terms and conditions. Bidding and/or winning
does not mean you are expecting me to “hold” the car until you have the
opportunity to inspect it. Any inspection contemplated should be undertaken
BEFORE you bid or make an offer and I openly welcome any potential buyer to
come and personally inspect the car. Once you bid or make an offer, you are
doing so to buy WITHOUT conditions. Your bid can not be subject to anything. A
$2000.00 deposit (non-refundable) is required within 24 hours of the close of
the auction and payable by PayPal. The balance of funds are required within 7
days of the close of the auction and must be provided by cashier’s check or
bank wire. I cannot accept PayPal for the balance unless you are willing to
meet the cost of transfer fees. Full payment must be made (and payments
cleared) before the title and/or the vehicle is released. All payments are
non-refundable. Payments as described above form an important part of this
purchase contract and so, if all the funds are not received as outlined above,
I reserve the right to terminate the transaction without notice. If there has
been any deposit or other part payments received and I elect to terminate the
contract, I reserve the right to keep any such deposits or payments and resell
the vehicle to another bidder or interested party or re-list the vehicle at any
time. To be clear, if you change your mind for ANY reason and do not complete
the transaction in the time-frame required, you will forfeit your deposit. I am
happy to assist with shipping arrangements on a national and worldwide basis
but the winning bidder takes full responsibility for pickup and/or shipping and
at his cost. As a collector and experienced restorer of a range of classic cars, I make every effort to bring my cars to a high standard. By comparison, my cars are generally superior to others available but they are by no means perfect. You must expect some issues. Unless specifically stated, the car is not of show standard but of nice "driver" condition. Please understand, show cars cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to achieve and sell for prices commensurate, so the sale price of this car reflects its relative condition. You are buying "condition" accordingly. Buyers should not expect to receive concours quality or "perfect" cars at these prices. Please also understand it is not always possible to attend to every item, or perhaps I may have inadvertently overlooked items. Further, and very importantly, these cars are not new. So this means a 25 year old car is predominantly comprised of 25 year old parts. And old parts will fail. All buyers must understand and expect that things can or will wear out, break and/or stop functioning without notice. This is even more likely with hand-built English cars of early technology when compared to the typical American car of the same vintage. Suspension and brakes on these cars are complex. We thoroughly check them and replace things that are identified faulty. But please understand, by example; if we change a brake line because it appears aged or faulty, we do NOT at the same time replace all other hoses because they are of similar age. This is considered "preventative maintenance". We do not do this unless specifically requested and is not included in the purchase price. Feel free to ask for this additional service. Further, a feature or function that is working perfectly one moment, may decide to play-up the next. After all, it is some 17 years old. This is the nature of any used car and especially British cars. For this reason it is necessary for the following condition: The
vehicle is being sold "as-is/where-is" with no warranty expressed,
written or implied. Any descriptions or representations are made with
reasonable judgment and all efforts are made to ensure fair assessment and
accuracy but they are for descriptive and identification purposes only and are
not to be construed as a warranty of any type. The seller shall not be
responsible for errors in description, authenticity, genuineness, or defects
herein and makes no warranty in connection therewith. If any aspect of the
description contradicts what can be seen in the photos, then the photos shall
prevail as the reference point. No allowance or set aside will be made on
account of any incorrectness, unforeseen imperfection, defect or damage. It is
the responsibility of the buyer to have satisfied himself as to the condition
and value and to bid based upon that judgment solely. The seller shall and will
make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects at the buyer’s
request prior to the close of the auction. Seller assumes no responsibility for
any repairs regardless of any written or oral statements about the vehicle.
Being a classic car in excess of 10 years of age, in most PLEASE; IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ABIDE BY THESE TERMS, CONTACT ME BEFORE YOU CONTEMPLATE DOING SO AS, RESPECTFULLY, THERE CAN BE NO EXCEPTIONS. I am sorry if these terms seem harsh but there seem to be some very unrealistic buyers out there - fortunately, only few of these people exist but those that do can make life difficult, so it appears EVERYTHING needs to spelled out. Very simply put, this is an old car being offered for sale. It is not new and is subject to the perils of age. Further, Jaguars are not without nuances, idiosyncrasies and they are renown for a host of design issues which can make them not inexpensive to maintain. So, please respect the terms and conditions when you bid. ~~oo00oo~~ |

Daimler employees can set email to auto-delete during vacation
Mon, 18 Aug 2014The Internet has shrunk the world in terms of the way people communicate by making it possible to send an email from Oslo and have it show up in Cleveland almost immediately. But that instant contact has wrecked the work/life balance for many. They get home from a long day at the office, yet they can never fully put their feet up and relax because another hour or more of checking and replying to emails awaits. However, German automotive giant Daimler is putting an end to that churn, at least while its employees are on vacation.
About 100,000 Daimler employees in Germany are eligible to opt-in to a new program called Mail on Holiday, according to The Atlantic. When the workers go on vacation, they can switch it on, and the service auto-deletes all of their incoming email. "Our employees should relax on holiday and not read work-related emails," said Wilfried Porth, board member for human resources, to The Financial Times as cited by The Atlantic.
Mail on Holiday puts a thumb on the scale of work/life balance in favor of a little more free time. The system means that Daimler employees shouldn't even be tempted to check their email on vacation because there's nothing there - and it also avoids them coming back from a relaxing holiday only to find a mailbox packed full of hundreds of unread messages. These days, people are absolutely obsessed with their work, often to the detriment of their health, not to mention spending time with their families and friends. On one hand, Mail on Holiday sounds like the sort of vacation breakthrough we'd need to truly unplug and unwind, but on the other hand, it makes our skin crawl just thinking about the lack of communication. What's your perspective? Have your say in Comments.
European automakers gear up for Brazilian production
Mon, 07 Oct 2013Brazil is the place to be, apparently. Toyota has been investing in the South American country, as has BMW, which announced a $261 million investment in October 2012, on the heels of an Audi factory announcement in San José Chiapa. The high-end immigration is only set to continue, as Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar-Land Rover have both announced plans to set up manufacturing operations there.
Mercedes is the big news here, as its new facility will see the German manufacturer invest 170-million euros for production of its next-generation C-Class and upcoming GLA-Class. "Brazil is an important future market. With our local production we accept the challenge and take on the competition," noted Andreas Renschler, Management Board member for Production and Procurement at Mercedes-Benz Cars and Mercedes-Benz Vans. Production is expected to begin by 2016.
Jaguar-Land Rover, meanwhile, isn't so concrete in its plans. The news of its investment in South America comes from a job posting for a plant quality manager in Brazil that was picked up by the UK's AutoCar. "Portuguese language skills will be definite advantage" for interested candidates, according to the job listing. The want ad follows on the heels of remarks by Jaguar Land Rover's Dr. Ralph Speth, who said there are "very intensive discussions" with Brazil's government. Unlike Mercedes, there's no mention of which vehicles will be produced in South America, although AutoCar thinks the Freelander, sold in the US as the LR2, is a leading contender.
Mercedes-Benz GLK coupe to get 2016 intro
Wed, 23 Jan 2013Radio chatter around the emerging small, premium crossover coupe genre has thus far been dominated by the Land Rover Evoque and the Mini Paceman. According to a report in Car, the Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class (shown above) has received its invitation to the party and will spend the next three years getting ready: it's said that two-door variant of the crisply-angled CUV is coming in 2016, along with a redesign befitting its sleeker intentions.
To be based on the MRA platform - the rear-drive version of the company's three new modular platforms, it will also support the coming 2013 S-Class and could eventually get an AMG version to help it compete with segment offerings like the forthcoming Porsche Macan. Not much else is known about it beyond its name: Car says it will be called the GLC, a friendly nomenclature we remember best as a Mazda hatchback (allegedly for "Good Little Car"). Internet oldtimers may remember the Mazda GLC as the predecessor to the 323 (which in turn came before today's Mazda3). Either way, the GLC is not to be confused with the larger upcoming BMW X6 rival based on the ML-Class (reportedly called GLS) which is also said to still be in the works, or the front-drive based GLA, a model also edging toward production.
