This is a ONE OWNER vehicle!  I am that one owner!

This is not your average 2006 S65.  This is indeed a true super-car which has been meticulously maintained in brand new condition at all times so please move on if you are looking for something you can pick up at or below current blue book values.

I purchased this car BRAND NEW - S65 AMG vehicles in 2006 were being sold above the MSRP of $190,000 for around $225,000 including luxury taxes, etc....  This is in fact a world class super-car and the S65 AMG still ranks among one of the top five fastest production cars in the world!  Zero to 60 in 3.9 seconds; zero to 100 and back to zero in less than 10 seconds - remember, when you drive a super-car, your biggest concern is stopping, not going!  Mercedes committed to hand-build up to 500 S65 and SL65-series vehicles each year since 2006.  Each year, Mercedes has actually built less somewhere less than 300 of these vehicles for sale worldwide - this is a collectible Mercedes!  From the factory, over 604 horsepower and over 738 lb. ft. of torque!

All numbers match on this car.  This is a California car that has NEVER been wrecked.  There is not one single scratch, ding, nor dent to be found ANYWHERE on the car.  This is the original finish and, quite honestly, it now looks a lot better than it did when I took brand new delivery - I have delivery date photos to prove this.  There is absolutely zero fade/oxidation on the front bumper as is commonly seen on the W220 body style since most of the cars are not properly maintained.

This car has been 100% garaged even when traveling - we only stay in hotels that have parking garages!

I have religiously changed the synthetic oil at least every 5,000 miles and, in many cases, I have been known to have the oil and filter changed at 2,000 and 2,500 mile intervals.  This is in comparison to the Mercedes recommendation to change the oil every 10,000 miles.  Every single service record back to the day I took delivery in March, 2006 is available directly from Mercedes-Benz as well as from me.

I have personally washed this car, by hand, every week that it has been driven and I have personally polished it every 2-4 months depending on driving frequency.

However, as I hope you can see by the very low mileage, this car has not been driven hard and has not been used for any sort of daily commute in rush hour traffic.

The interior, as documented by the photos, is still in BRAND NEW condition!  There is only minor wear on the driver's seat which may not even be visible in the photos.  There is ZERO wear on the carpet, the carpet is still in brand new condition.  As the photos also show, the leather and felt material on each door of the vehicle are all still in new condition with no dirt nor any signs of wear.  The Italian suede Alcantara headliner and side pillar material is in perfect condition.

The rear seats of this vehicle are fully functional just as the front seats.  Additionally, this was one of only three Mercedes-Benz vehicles imported into the United States in 2006 which has special rear seat controls not available in any other 2006 Mercedes-Benz.  This car is also "one of one" for 2006 which means that this was the only 2006 S65 AMG ordered in this specific color combination.  You will NOT see your car driving down the road being driven by someone else!

The engine compartment is immaculate because I have kept it pristine at all times.  The same can be said of the trunk.

The hand-built engine and transmission on this car are PERFECT and have NEVER needed ANY work beyond motor oil/filter changes and transmission fluid/filter changes.

This car is as quiet, if not quieter, than a Rolls-Royce Phantom under normal driving conditions (and also provides an astonishingly smooth ride which is very uncharacteristic of a world class super-car) and it becomes a ferocious and unmatched king of the road when you open it up and let the engine take over.

The car has an extended warranty which is still valid for another 20,000 miles or approximately 10 months, whichever comes first.  However, it is unlikely you will need it.  The car just spent some time at a well-known Southern California Mercedes-Benz dealership where they replaced just about every major electronically-controlled system on the car.  The entire ABC system was just replaced - including, but not limited to the pump, ALL hydraulic lines, ALL pressure hoses, all fluids, etc....All major Air Conditioning lines, the drier, new refrigerant, etc....A new radiator was installed last year with all hoses...Both turbos were resealed, etc... If you are familiar with Mercedes-Benz engineering, then you know that all of these new components have been redesigned to avoid premature failure which means that this car is ready for the road and most likely will not require any major service for another 100,000 miles.

The tires are brand new nitrogen-filled OEM Michelin PS2 safety-rated to allow the car to achieve its top speed of 220 miles per hour!  A set of four new Michelin PS2s cost approximately $2,000 including installation.  The S65 AMG wheels on this car - each wheel - has an MSRP Mercedes dealer replacement cost of $6,500 for EACH WHEEL.  As the photos document, there is NO visible damage to ANY wheel whatsoever except for minor rock chips which are simply not visible in the photos and are not visible to most human eyes.

ALL serious offers will receive serious consideration.  The car is available for inspection in the Encino area of Los Angeles.

Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG is Affalterbach's first big leap into the little pond

Tue, 05 Mar 2013

The recent history of AMG is turning out amped-up versions of Mercedes-Benz offerings that would hardly ever be mistaken for their sedate counterparts. Sure, you'd need to pay attention to pick a G-Class from the G63 AMG, but dual side-pipes are a quick giveaway. The Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG is not only a new era in Affalterbach's attention on smaller cars, it is probably also the most subtle transformation we can think of in the line-up.
Low and chunky enough in standard guise to make a sporting impression, the aesthetic makeover is confined to black trim around the lower rim of the hatch, black wheels with red brake calipers and a single, rectangular exhaust tip on either side of the diffuser. It's easier to make a positive ID inside, where the flat-bottomed steering wheel, red seatbelts and red-rimmed details say, "You know what I am..."
If the car is running, though, it won't take but a second. The 2.0-liter turbo spitting 360 horsepower and 332 pound-feet will grumble through a sport exhaust at idle, and bellow through the same on it's way to a 0-60 time of less than 4.5 seconds. And if you need something that looks a little harder - and you want those quad pipes - then the A45 AMG Edition 1 is the treasure you seek. There's a press release below for all the info you'll need until the hot hatch goes on sale in Germany later this year, and photos for the rest of us while we wait to find out if we'll get a chance to buy it.

Highlights from the Goodwood Festival of Speed, including the McLaren P1 and a Ford Transit running the hill

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

The sole purpose of this post is as a time-waster, and since you shouldn't have to work to waste time, we've done it for you. In the numerous videos below you'll find cars that have lately been in the news tramping all over the grounds of Lord March's estate in Goodwood, England.
There's the McLaren P1 heading up the hill, the Jaguar Project 7, then a casually-driven Porsche 917 followed by an even-more-casually-driven Porsche 956, topped off by a Porsche 936 that is anything but casually driven. The next round is the flame-spitting Peugeot 405 T16 Pikes Peak from Climb Dance, a camera mounted on the Peugeot RCZ R after it showing you what the whole, uninterrupted run up the hill looks like. For a real head-turner, we couldn't embed it but there's Andy Reid blasting up the hill in a Ford Transit Supervan with a Cosworth 3000 V6 engine.
The modern racing contingent has Allan McNish doing the hill in the Audi R18 e-tron quattro he used to win Le Mans and Lewis Hamilton making lots of tire smoke in the Mercedes-AMG Petronas MGP-W02. For comparison, that's followed by Nick Heidfeld's record-setting run up the hill in 1999 in the McLaren MP4/14 . The classic racing contingent is headlined by 71-year-old Giacomo Agostini on an MV Agusta.

Mercedes testing C-Class plug-in hybrid modes in Germany

Wed, 07 May 2014

Testing appears to be underway for what would be the first Mercedes-Benz C-Class with a hybrid powertrain. We can see a pair of the prototypes undergoing testing in Germany, with one, a C-Class Wagon, still heavily clad in camouflage and featuring a more noticeable outlet on the passenger side of its rear bumper.
There's also a more production-looking sedan, which features a not-so-discreet flap over its rear-bumper outlet. It's difficult to speculate on power outputs for this fuel-sipping C-Class, although our spies seem to think that this car will feature some combination of a four-cylinder gas engine with an electric motor, although just which four is unclear (note, we wouldn't mind if MB fit its 2.0-liter turbo with some batteries and motors). Regardless, the four-pot/electric motor seems like a pretty reasonable combo, although it probably means that Mercedes won't be challenging the six-cylinder-powered system of the BMW ActiveHybrid3 any time soon.
When the plug-in C-Class arrives later this year as a 2015 model, it will likely offer a full range of driving modes, including both gas or electric, only, as well as a more traditional hybrid mode.
