Drop the hammer at any speed below 40 mph, and the brakes go to work controlling wheelspin as your neck muscles strain to keep your head level. The acceleration seems just shy of g-sled, cheek-flapping strong and is sufficient to whoosh the S600 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds, to 100 in 9.7, and through the quarter in 12.5 at 115 mph. That's neck and neck with a slightly racier 12-banger--the Ferrari 575M Maranello --and the Benz wins the drag race by a 10th! And that peak performance is gained by simply flooring the accelerator. No brake-torque or wheelspinning histrionics required.

EXTERIOR: The exterior paint is Silver and it shines brilliantly in the sun light. The S600 looks amazing with its great curves and cleverly designed shape. The S600 has a smooth ride, powerful 5-speed automatic 5.5L 36 valve V12 engine, with 493 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque! What does this mean? It means that you'll be driving a vehicle with great ability getting you to 60 mph in five seconds!!! Crazy fast! Let's not forget that you are also driving a car with less than 71000 miles on it! It has been maintained over regular suggested intervals. You'll also appreciate the power side mirrors which are also power folding, memory equipped, and have supplemental turn signals! The xenon headlamps really light up the front end at night and add to the overall safety. Your new Mercedes is equipped with 18" Mercedes wheels with tires that are in good shape. There's not a soul who will confuse this car with anything less than a world class automobile.

INTERIOR: Mercedes got things right by complimenting the gorgeous exterior with a stunning interior.  You will enjoy the plush comfort of the heated and cooled 14-way power soft, supple leather seats. The rear seats are also multi-adjustable and both heated and cooled so that essentially everyone in the car can be as comfortable as possible. To further in this endeavor, there is 4-zone automatic climate control. The fit of the leather is quite pleasing, and the look of the polished wood trim inlays will remind you how wise a choice you made investing in this automobile! Speaking of wood, the steering wheel features both wood and leather for a beautiful, classy look. Also housed in the same unit are the controls for the superb Bose sound system with 12 speakers, AM/FM stereo, and CD changer. The  steering wheel features controls for the audio and multifunction display. With the aid of the rear sunshade, you can keep out the sun's harsh glare. Your bumpers will appreciate the parking sensors for bump and dent free parking. This Mercedes presents some of the following features to make your ride relaxing yet invigorating: 14-way power adjustable front bucket seats with pneumatically adjustable lumbar support, power sunroof (button has to be held while closing), multi-function display (odometer, trip computer, oil level, radio/CD/phone status), power rear headrests, cruise control, auto-dimming rearview mirror, front seat back magazine pockets, and plenty of cup holders.

SAFETY: Some of the safety features to keep you safe in your great new S600 are: ABS brakes, driver/front passenger adaptive dual-stage airbags, side-impact body protection airbag for all outboard seating positions, 3-point seat belts, PRE-SAFE feature, universal LATCH attachments, illuminated interior trunk release, and horn.

2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK250 Bluetec gets 33 mpg, priced from $38,950*

Tue, 30 Apr 2013

It's been more than a year since we first saw the 2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK250 Bluetec unveiled at the 2012 New York Auto Show, but it looks like the compact diesel crossover is finally starting to roll into dealerships. Those wanting to buy a diesel GLK will only have to pony up an extra $1,500 over a base, gas-powered GLK350, as the GLK250's starting price is listed at $38,590 (*not including $905 destination charge).
The turbocharged 2.1-liter four-cylinder diesel produces 200 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, and Mercedes-Benz has also provided some fuel economy numbers for this model, with claimed EPA estimates of 24 miles per gallon city and 33 mpg highway. There is no listing for the GLK250 on the EPA's website yet, but the figures represent significant increase over the GLK350's lackluster 19 mpg city and 25 mpg highway figures, which are for the rear-wheel drive model. The GLK250 comes standard with the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system - a $2,000 option on GLK350 - meaning that if you want an all-wheel-drive version of the 2013 GLK, it's actually cheaper to opt for the diesel model. Head over to the Mercedes-Benz site for the full 2013 GLK-Class configurator.

New Mercedes Unimog debuts to the cheers of little boys everywhere [w/video]

Sat, 27 Apr 2013

The Mercedes Unimog, the superhero villain of the off-road world that's just waiting to make the jump to Transformer, has been completely upgraded for its new generation. There are ten models, expanding the range and getting new designations across the traditional all-terrain series and the implement-carrier series. Panoramic cabins get more visibility, multifunction steering wheels and better dash clusters, improved HVAC and a three-mode central tire inflation system. Outside, there are new items like LED headlights and daytime running lamps in the bumper, roof-mounted windshield wipers and a front-camera monitor for the implement carrier.
The new engine lineup is compliant with Euro VI, featuring four- and six-cylinder BlueEfficiency engines putting out anywhere from 156 horsepower to 354 hp. Powerplant placement has also been tweaked, the chassis members getting a revised curve to place the engine a bit further back and lower, maintaining off-road clearance and lowering the Unimog's center of gravity. The new location of the engine means the cabin has more room, and the wheelbase is shorter. Combined with a higher turning angle, the Unimog has a smaller turning radius than before.
The implement carrier gets what's called a "synergistic traveling drive," the bonus being that drivers don't need to stop in order to use an attachment - a hydrostatic transmission works with the regular manual transmission at up to 31 kilometers per hour for seamless switching.

New details emerge on forthcoming Mercedes-Benz SLC

Sat, 02 Feb 2013

Last we heard, the Mercedes-Benz SLC had been put on indefinite hold, but now Car Magazine is reporting that the Porsche 911-fighting "Baby SLS" coupe could be on sale by 2015. Riding on a modified SLS AMG chassis, the smaller and lighter SLC could be priced in the sub-$100,000 price bracket.
We'd already heard that the new car would feature conventional doors (instead of SLS-like gullwing doors), but this report focuses on some of the possible powertrains Mercedes-Benz is likely to use. At launch, the SLC could offer a pair of V8-powered models - a 485-horsepower SLC and a 585-hp SLC S - both being powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. About a year after launch, a new V6 model could emerge giving the SLC an estimated 333 horsepower and its lowest price point.
It also sounds like the car's name hasn't been completely finalized as some people within Mercedes are favoring a return of the SLR name.
