For all that know this Mercedes,  yes this is the one, not a reproduction.  This is part of the GARTEL collection, "TIGER'S EYE". This Mercedes was featured at the  113^th  2013 NYC International  Auto Show at the Jacob Javits in Manhattan, NY this past April. 

The Mercedes was recognized, featured, and displayed at the RM auctions in Carisle, PA,  Auburn, IN and Burbank, CA to attract the clients and fans to the auctions.  The Benz was also featured at the 2012 Art Basil in Miami, FL

Mr. Gartel is considered to be the "FATHER" of the Digital Art movement around the world for over 30 years. His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, Joan Whitney Payson Museum, Long Beach Museum of Art, Princeton Art Museum, PS 1, Norton Museum and in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Institution's Museum of American History and the Bibliotheque Nationale. His biography for his pioneering efforts is included in "Who's Who," "Who's Who in the East," "Who's Who in America," "Who's Who in American Art," and "Who's Who in the World."  Born and raised in New York City, Mr. Gartel had the opportunity to teach Andy Warhol how to use the Amiga Computer, went to School of Visual Arts, with fellow art student, graffiti artist Keith Haring, where he earned his BFA degree majoring in Graphics, and started his electronic career working side by side with Nam June Paik at Media Study/Buffalo in upstate New York. Gartel had many associations with musicians such as Debbie Harry (Blonde) Sid Vicious (Sex Pistols), Stiv Bators (Dead Boys), Johnny Thunders (New York Dolls), Ace Frehley (Kiss) and Wendy O Williams (Plasmatics). Recently, Gartel has created artwork for such Pop Culture stars such as Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. His ABSOLUT GARTEL commission for Absolut Vodka is perhaps his most well known artwork gracing the pages of “ART-IN-AMERICA,” “Artforum,” “Sothebys,” “Art and Auction,””Art and Antiques,” “ArtByte,” “Scientific American,” “Technology Review,” “WIRED,” & “NY Magazine.  He has several monograph books on his work: "Laurence Gartel: A Cybernetic Romance" published by Gibbs Smith, (c) 1989 Utah. Introduction to the book is written by video guru Nam June Paik. "Gartel: Arte & Tecnologia" published by Edizioni Mazzotta, (c) 1998 Milan, Italy. Introduction to the book is written by noted art historian and critic Pierre Restany. 250 pages over 400 color plates.  Mr. Gartel is included in the Italian Art History Textbook: "La Storia Dell Arte" published by Editions Giunti (c) 2001, Florence. Michelangelo at the front of the book and GARTEL being the last page representing "NEW VISUAL LANGUAGES."  Gartel judged the Digital Film making Competition at the Scottsdale International Film Festival and gave a lecture on the history of his art at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. He also created a large screen multimedia project for Governor Jeb Bush's Office of Film & Entertainment, presented during the Florida Filmmakers Reunion at the Globe Theatre, UNIVERSAL STUDIOS, Hollywood. He created a body of work interviewing filmmakers during the Miami International Film Festival, as well as hosting a panel discussion with industry leaders titled, "THE DIGITAL AGE" in conjunction with the festival's Reel Seminar Series. Gartel was a judge for this year's 2013 HD Festival in South Florida. His most recent activity was to collage images live from camera phone images that were sent to him from around the world all within a five-minute period during the Mobile Imaging Summit in Monterey, California.

This Benz has been wrapped in 3M High grade vinyl wrap.  It has been lamented twice for a high gloss finish and can with stand the elements.

A decision has been made to sell this beautiful Benz to make room for new inventory and possible future projects.  Here is your chance to own a piece of history and fame.  This Benz is a driver and not a trailer queen.  The Benz is a number matching, original equipped car that has A/C, power windows, power front seats,power brakes, and rear A/C.  This is a rust free, 148,000+ original vehicle.  I have included a picture of the car before it was wrapped, as you can see it is in excellent condition.

3. I reserve the right to end its auctions early or to cancel bids solely at its discretion and shall not be held liable for any such cancellation or closure.

4. Winning bidders are required to contact me within 24 hours of the auction's closing to secure the vehicle and to finalize the details of the transaction.

5. A $1,000 non-refundable deposit is required within 48 hours of auction's close to secure the vehicle and remove it from the market. Forms of acceptable payment for deposit are: credit card, bank wire transfer, cashiers check, and money order.

 

6. In the event that winning bidders are unable, either to contact me, or to provide for deposit within established time frames, vehicles may be made available to other buyers on a first come, first serve basis.
