Here is the best of the 126 S-class Mercedes Benz cars. The 300 SD is known for its durability and longevity along with its superb comfort and drivability. Some owners claim to have over a million miles on these diesels. But don't worry this SD is just getting started with only 179K miles. It still sounds and performs like a new engine. Also it's transmission shifts like it is supposed to. I can give a laundry list of new parts and improvements. I have gone to more maintenance and repair details than most anyone would toward a vehicle scheduled for sale. Let me give a few: new rotors front and rear with pads, re-packed front wheel bearings and new seals, new flexible brake lines all 4, new premium tires (1500 miles), all new fuel filters (primary, secondary and cleaned tank screen), new fuel hose for injectors, new air filter, new oil filter with 8 qts. diesel oil, new AC compressor with charge, new hood pad, new trunk seal after new paint, new interior leather and seat repair with custom dye applied to seats front and back as necessary, new window regulator slides as necessary, new 50/50 coolant after flush, new transmission filter with ATF, new power steering return hose and steering pump filter, new turbo oil return tube gromet and O-rings, new injector pump gasket (with the gromet and gasket the car shows no leaking), valve adjustment.
As you may be able to imagine, even today, this car could be sitting proud in any Mercedes Benz Showroom.
In full disclosure note that the original Becker radio/cassett works but the right side either is not pluged in or may be defective. Auto antenna works. (since audio is sometimes personal I have left the original in place)

New details emerge on forthcoming Mercedes-Benz SLC
Sat, 02 Feb 2013Last we heard, the Mercedes-Benz SLC had been put on indefinite hold, but now Car Magazine is reporting that the Porsche 911-fighting "Baby SLS" coupe could be on sale by 2015. Riding on a modified SLS AMG chassis, the smaller and lighter SLC could be priced in the sub-$100,000 price bracket.
We'd already heard that the new car would feature conventional doors (instead of SLS-like gullwing doors), but this report focuses on some of the possible powertrains Mercedes-Benz is likely to use. At launch, the SLC could offer a pair of V8-powered models - a 485-horsepower SLC and a 585-hp SLC S - both being powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. About a year after launch, a new V6 model could emerge giving the SLC an estimated 333 horsepower and its lowest price point.
It also sounds like the car's name hasn't been completely finalized as some people within Mercedes are favoring a return of the SLR name.
Paul di Resta returns to DTM with Mercedes
Tue, 21 Jan 2014Some drivers manage to make the transition from one form of motor racing into another, and some run into trouble. Take Paul di Resta, for example. The promising young Scottish driver dominated Formula 3 racing in Europe in 2006, then moved over to Germany's hugely competitive DTM touring car series where he finished second in 2008, third in 2009 and first in 2010. But things didn't go as smoothly for Paul - cousin to retired Indy champion Dario Franchitti - when he moved in to Formula One with the Force India team.
In three years on the grid, he failed to score a single podium finish. Little surprise, then, that Force India opted not to renew his contract for this season. Left without a ride, di Resta is now going back to DTM with longtime supporter Mercedes-Benz, testing the new C-Class touring car today in Portugal. It's good news for Mercedes, which is celebrating 120 years in motor racing this season and, with 2005 champion Gary Paffett also on board, can now count two former champions on its DTM roster.
We wouldn't count Paul out of F1 for good, though. When he won the DTM title four years ago, he was also moonlighting as Force India's test driver, and we wouldn't be surprised to see him pull similar double-duty with the Mercedes F1 team (or another Benz-powered outfit) this year before spring-boarding back into grand prix racing in the future. At 27 years old, he may not have been the youngest driver on the grid this year, but he's still got a good few years ahead of him.
Next Mercedes-Benz GLK to get AMG variant? Not likely...
Fri, 15 Mar 2013If you think Mercedes-Benz will slap an AMG badge on anything with wheels, think again. Word has it the German manufacturer will not offer buyers a performance version of the GLK, with Tobias Moers, director of AMG vehicle development, saying that he doesn't see a market for the car. That's not to say the picture won't change in the near future, however. According to CarAdvice.com, AMG is keeping a close eye on the arrival of the Porsche Macan.
"Maybe there will be a change in the market when the Porsche [Macan] comes up," Moers said, "but right now, no."
The real hitch in the giddy-up seems to be cost. Moers says developing the machine into something worthy of an AMG would represent "a huge investment." We can't exactly argue with that. Fortunately, AMG buyers have plenty of Mercedes-Benz models to choose from.
