I am the second owner of this car, it was bought in 2000 in Little Rock from the estate of the original owner after having been parked and garaged for over 15 years. The deal was brokered by the Mercedes salesman who sold it new in 1971 (only at mercedes would the same salesman sell the same car twice 30 years apart). I was told and after living in Arkansas a few years can understand why the original owner requested the original leather interior be replaced with original Mercedes velours. The body is very clean and has no rust on the undercarriage. I did the following work on the car in 2000 not out of neccessity but rather to enjoy it trouble free which i have and continue to do so as you (the buyer) will.
1- Completely overhauled the engine (piston rings, bearings, valve seals, valve guides, front main seal, rear main seal, timing chain, tensioner, oil pump chain, head gaskets, manifold gaskets, fuel injector seals and gaskets, water gaskets, water pump, alternator, all engine and manifold hoses) engine has 27000 miles since restoration and is still smoke and leak free with all the right noises present and all the wrong noises not. I still take this car to triple digits with the same confidence i had 10 years ago, and it still gets to 120+ mph with amazing ease (prime highway targets are Bentley Continentals). Have all receipts for the original parts that went into the car.
2- Suspension overhaul. Changes all 4 suspension airbags, shocks, steering shock, front axle mounts, urethane bushings, front bearings.
3- Replaced transmission filter and fluid, replaced tourque converter seal, transmission seals and gaskets.
4- Replaced the AC compressor with a new York unit in 2005.
5- Replaced all the weather strip on the car in 2002 (windshield seals front and rear, door seals, window seals, sunroof seals, power lock vaccum elements)
6- Replaced the plastic heater and AC controls. A common problem with these cars. They need replacement again. Have all 4 Original controls brand new and will provide with the car.
7- Replaced Brake Booster and Brake master cylinder in 2001.
8- Replaced the iginition system (contact points) with an electronic ignition system. This is the only non original item on the car. The original system had dual contact points, was very hard to set, and needed frequent service and adjusting.
9- Replaced distributor cap and rotor. Have an extra rotor that will provide with the car.
In 2006 I took the car with me overseas to Dubai, it served a new purpose other than being an absolute fun to drive (especially in a country were the legal limit was 90mph), it was an elegant exclusive alternative to an array of redundant luxury and exotic cars parked at almost every starbucks. The car was garaged underground for 6 years and was rarely driven during the summer months. I did have the car painted over there, there were a couple of mistakes in the paint and the body. The car was brough back to the states in 2012.
My efforts with this car was to have it as a daily driver rather than a show winner. Meaning the main focus was reliability and driveability rather than exorbitant paint and chrome works. The car is all original and complete and has the potential to be a show winner since the body is clean and complete and rust free.
Items that require attention:
1- Driver side window regulator. The motor works perfect, the rgulator skips. All other windows and sunroof work perfect.
2- minor damage to the trunk lid caused by improper container loading on the way back from Dubai.
3- Damage to one hubcap again due to improper container loading.
4- Climate control knobs, a common wear and tear item on this particular mercedes model. Have all 4 brand new and will provide with the car.
5- Body paint. There were a few mistakes in the paint and the primers used were for different climates. Some cracks are visible.
6- Gas pedal and kickdown assembly are missing.
7- Tires. The tires have 8000 miles on them; however, they were installed in 2004 and are starting to show some cracks.
8- AC needs to be recharged and AC tempreture knob needs to be checked.
9- The sunroof is slightly leaking.
I have had my fun with this car and i know mechanically it will serve the next owner as faithfully as it has served me and continues to do so. Having a full agenda now and other items on the priority lists, i find myself having less time to allocate and enjoy it. Therefore i believe it is time she found a new home/garage.
Test drives are welcome, joy rides are not. Feel free to contact me at 954-805-9465 for any inquiries or to set an appointment for viewing. I reserve the right to sell the car privately until the reserve is met. There are no warrantees explicit or implied on this car. It is sold as is. Buyer is responsible for shipping.
Good luck with your bids.

2013 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG
Fri, 22 Feb 2013Make way for the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG, the most wonderfully preposterous car I have ever driven.
There is absolutely no reason why any two-seat roadster should be fitted with a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 developing 621 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, but I sure am glad that Mercedes-Benz doesn't see things that way.
Drop into the leather-lined cockpit of this $213,145 provocateur, floor the accelerator pedal as I did over and over again, and 60 miles per hour falls in a traction-limited 3.9 seconds. Top speed has been electronically held to 186 mph (this apparently saves Gulfstream jet owners from embarrassment). Forget the SL550 and SL63 AMG, the valets will trip over themselves attending to the tycoon driving this thoroughbred - it's the real deal.
Mercedes-Benz releases stunning first images of 2014 S-Class
Mon, 18 Mar 2013
The all-new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, designated W222, is one of the most highly anticipated debuts of its model year. Every generation of the flagship sedan has broken new ground in technology and innovation for the entire industry, and the German automaker appears determined to raise the bar much further with its latest arrival as it promises to deliver "the best automobile in the world." Mercedes-Benz has just released nearly two dozen interior images of the new sedan, showing off style in design, craftsmanship in execution and pioneering advancements in technology.
Unlike all previous generations - the first S-Class officially arrived in 1972 - the 2014 model completely discards a traditional instrument cluster and replaces it with two high-resolution color displays in 8:3 format with a screen diagonal of 12.3 inches (the outgoing model's gauges were a mix of digital and analog). The left unit displays traditional analog gauges (digitally, of course) while the right unit is reserved for infotainment and comfort settings with the automaker's all-new mBrace2 - a cloud-based entertainment and information delivery system that is rolling out this year.
