You are looking at my exceptional 1970 280SEL.  This car is in outstanding condition. No rust anywhere, at all, none.

About the car:

Engine/Driveline:
Engine starts and runs well - has two needs: Cold start valve needs rebuilt, runs rich on startup, the valve seals need to be replaced, minor smoke on startup, but not in normal running
engine is quiet and runs smoothly.
Transmission shifts properly
No other driveline noises
Tires are in excellent condition at least 80% tread left and all match

I have taken this car on several 5-800 mile trips with no issues and would not hesitate to drive it anywhere on a moments notice.

I realize I have priced this car above average, but it is very much an above average car with exceptionally low mile for the age.  Every point of condition on this car indicate that the miles are actual, the tool kit is still in the plastic protective bag from the factory.  I have owned this car for several years and it has always been stored inside, never fails to instantly start even after 2-4 months of inactivity.

I think anyone would be proud to own this car, and please contact me with any questions, I am more than happy to tell you anything you would like to know.  The reason for sale is that I am losing my storage and have to reduce my collection.

The car is listed elsewhere, and I reserve the right to end the auction early.

Thank you for  looking

The Mansory Speranza proves that money can buy taste and good sense...

Tue, 05 Mar 2013

...Just kidding.
No one in their right mind has ever accused German tuners Mansory of being subtle. So, when our Geneva team wandered across the Mansory Speranza - A Mercedes-Benz Gelandewagen that has been denuded of its roof and spackled inside with quilted leather and red carbon fiber - they didn't ask a lot of existential questions. Why does the Speranza exist? Because Germans are weird sometimes, that's why.
Forget for a moment that you'll have to pay Mansory hundreds of thousands of euros (we're guessing, no pricing information has been revealed) for the privilege of converting your G-Class into something that looks like a Suzuki Samurai, and prepare to be impressed by the details. The tuning house has increased the output of the Mercedes V8 to a healthy 700 horsepower and 668 pound-feet of torque. The wheels are 24-inches, and wear almost unbelievable 305-section ultra-high performance Vresdestein tires. Carbon fiber can be found nearly everywhere one looks, including making up the housing for the spare tire. Oh, and there are leather pillows for the backseats... no word on whether they're standard or optional, but we're looking in to it.

Popular Science magazine's Best Of What's New 2012 all ate up with cars

Tue, 20 Nov 2012

Popular Science has named the winners in its Best of What's New awards, the victors coming in the categories of aerospace, automotive, engineering, entertainment, gadgets, green, hardware, health, home, recreation, security and software. The automotive category did not go wanting for lauded advancements:
Tesla Model S: the Grand Award winner for being "the standard by which all future electric vehicles will be measured."
BMW 328i: it's 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gets called out for being more powerful and frugal than the six-cylinder it replaces.

Mercedes Makes A Mighty Little Sedan
We got overexcited when the W203 Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan came out in 2001, calling it the "Baby Benz" when it really wasn't. We knew that, too, but our enthusiasm for a model more like the old 190 of the '80s was so strong that we were willing to stretch the first-gen C-Class to fit that mold. Today, the C-Class has done what all German premium cars do: grown in size. In this case, grown to satisfy the market intentions of the previous E-Class.
There was the tall A-Class sold from 1998 through 2010, but we never considered that a serious small Benz in the proper spirit, nor was it ever offered in the US. Regardless, we've been craving a smaller, premium, sexy sedan all the while.
