I am the second owner of this vehicle.
The original owner had it Mercedes dealer maintained for 3/4 of the mileage that is on it.
It runs great. New tires, water pump and window switch panel.
Transmission fluid has been changed. These vehicles were made with a sealed transmission and although the factory says they do not
have to be serviced, we did it. It is necessary. The fluid was clean when it was changed about 20,000 miles ago.
I would not hesitate to drive this vehicle anywhere. The body has some nicks and dings. They have been touched up. No rust through anywhere.
The paint is not perfect but the car looks good.
There is a very slight bit of rear main seepage, but it never needs to be topped off between oil changes. It does not burn oil.
It goes anywhere in our long Maine winters.
It has traction control and ABS brakes.
Has Bose Stereo CD System
The 1998 4WD ML320 had a transfer case that split the front and rear power 50/50. This can cause shuttering on slow tight turns in a parking lot.
This was changed in 1999 with a 60/40 ratio. This is not a problem. It is normal, you can check it on Google. I am just trying to make sure that anyone who
is not local and can check this out is aware of it.
I hate to let it go, but money is tight and I need to part with my Mercedes tank.
I am including the transmission oil dipstick and some touch up paint.
The dipstick does not stay in the trans since Mercedes did not think you needed it. I believe they now order routine trans fluid changes in newer models.
There was a minor accident when I let my adult son drive it. He scraped a guardrail when someone crossed over the center line.
The damage was basically a small cut in the bumper cover and some minor scrapes on the passenger side. This has been touched up.

Race Recap: 2013 Japanese Grand Prix flips several scripts [spoilers]
Mon, 14 Oct 2013Japan's Suzuka circuit is a great track that all the drivers love, but it doesn't usually provide the most thrilling, head-to-head racing. Where it does excel, however, is with surprises and "What just happened there?!" moments, and this year it was no different.
It started with Mark Webber in his Infiniti Red Bull Racing out-qualifying his teammate Sebastian Vettel for the first time this year. They were followed closely by Lewis Hamilton in the first Mercedes-AMG Petronas, the still-solid Romain Grosjean again outdoing teammate Kimi Räikkönen, Felipe Massa racing for another seat in Formula One and putting his Ferrari in fifth, then Nico Rosberg in the second Mercedes, Nico Hülkenberg in the first Sauber, Fernando Alonso in the second Ferrari, and Räikkönen continuing to do himself no favors by qualifying tenth.
For the second year in a row, the lights going out was the cue to start the first corner action...
Mercedes-Benz introduces new heavy security M-Class Guard model
Tue, 19 Mar 2013Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a new addition to the company's line of personal security vehicles. The M-Class Guard features bullet-proof side windows made with special laminated glazing and a polycarbonate inner layer to protect occupants from shards of glass. Mercedes says the M-Class Guard meets protection level VR4 according to the Bullet Resistant Vehicles 2009 standards, based on testing from the independent Ulm-based Ballistics Bureau, which means it can withstand .357 Magnum and .44 fire from multiple angles. It can also stand up to the DM51 hand grenade when equipped with optional floor armoring. Why skimp?
Buyers looking for protection from the world's literal slings and arrows can opt for the ML350 BlueTEC with its 258 horsepower 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine. With 457 pound-feet of torque, the oil-burner should have no trouble hustling the privileged class about. Of course, the ML500 offers a bit more punch courtesy of a 4.6-liter twin-turbo V8 with 408 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. Prices start at 105,050 euros for the diesel and 118,650 euros for the V8. You can check out the full press release below for more information.
BMW expects China to pass US as its top market in 2013
Thu, 11 Jul 2013When you combine two billion citizens, 100 cities with more than a million inhabitants and an economy that's as unrestrained as Jim Cramer on an Adderall binge, China's explosive auto industry growth shouldn't be a huge surprise. Audi already lists the communist country as its largest market, while Mercedes-Benz is expecting it to be there in the next few years. Now, according to a report from Automotive News, BMW is expecting the People's Republic to overtake the United States in sales by the end of 2013.
We already discovered the extent that BMW is going to in establishing a dedicated Chinese stronghold, when we explored BMW's Shanghai-based DesignWorks studio ahead of April's Shanghai Motor Show. And while we argued that DesignWorks Shanghai hasn't really borne fruit, it isn't due to a lack of sales.
BMW China has seen a 16-percent jump in year-over-year sales, lead by a 28-percent gain in 5 Series sales. Part of BMW's growth strategy comes from an ever-expanding dealership network. Remember those 100 cities we mentioned with over one million people? According to Karsten Engel, CEO of BMW's Chinese operations, those 100-million-plus city dwellers don't have access to a premium dealership.
