1998 Mercedes Benz Ml 320 W/ Upgrades Needs Work And/or Salvageable Clear Title on 2040-cars

Year:1998 Mileage:223650
Location:

Oak Park, Illinois, United States

Hello, you are bidding on a 1998 ML 320 with approximately 223,650 miles.  Please read full description before bidding.  This has been my regular car for the past 2.5 years.  Former owner was a dealer's father in Metro Detroit.  He put upgrades into the car from the ML55 including front grill/bumper, rear bumper, side moldings, mirrors, front and rear headlamps and also ML55 alloy wheels.  A new engine was swapped in at approximately 195,000 miles and currently has ~100,000 miles on it.  This was all done to give the SUV's appearance of a 2003-2004 model or so.  The interior is very clean and the leather seats are in great shape for its age.  The cosmetic problems are slight rusting of the passenger front fender as well as slight rusting on front wheel wells on either side.  Overall not bad at all for a car of this age.  Also, I was backed into by a parallel parker and the front bumper was severely cracked and is slightly detached at each side (see photo).  Main reason I am selling is that recent repairs have arisen that I can not afford.  The power steering is completely shot/gone out and needs new front lower ball joints to the tune of $3200.  The $3200 quote I received was for new power steering rack and coupling, o-ring, power steering pump, power steering reservoir, power steering reservoir gasket, and front lower ball joints.  Car can be driven but as expected with vehicle's weight, takes a lot of force and requires a bit more than usual turning radius and some muscle to get it going (especially from a stopped position while turning).

I have been searching the forums a bit and was told that if you know what you're doing, parts are not that expensive and can be fixed on the cheap.  Problem is I do not know what I'm doing and can not afford the $3200 hit.  So I suppose this is a sale that can either be repaired and/or junked out.  Hate to sell this car as I've had some good years with it and it is an absolute tank.  I have driven it mostly highway miles to my place of employment and multiple trips back and forth to family in Michigan.  Great in the snow and provides a good ride along with cargo.  In February of this year $1500 was spent on new front inner tie rods along with a new serpentine belt, tensioner and idler pulley.  Truck has been on synthetic its entire life.

I am just outside the Chicagoland area in Oak Park.  Buyer agrees to send deposit via PayPal for $400 of the auction price within 1 day of auction end.  Rest due in cash when picking up.  Please message me if you have any questions or would like to see the car.  Its my first time doing anything like this on eBay so I hope I have provided everything you need on this auction listing.  Thanks!

Mercedes to roll out C63 AMG late in 2014 with 4.0L V8

Mon, 30 Dec 2013

The new 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is upon us, launching initially in North America with turbocharged four-cylinder C300 4Matic and six-cylinder C400 4Matic flavors. But that's only the tip of the proverbial iceberg when it comes to the vast array of powertrain configurations that will be offered in the new C-Class in markets around the world. Orders will soon be rolling in for gasoline, hybrid and diesel engines with four, six or eight cylinders, driving the rear wheels or all four, with the seven-speed automatic transmission soon to be replaced by a new nine-speed unit. But what enthusiasts are really looking forward to is the next C63 AMG.
As BMW has done with the M3 (and new M4), Mercedes has gradually ratcheted up the cylinder count in its AMG C-Class, graduating from the 3.6-liter V6 in the original C36 AMG to the 4.3-liter V8 in the C43 AMG, then the 5.5-liter V8 in the C55 AMG before going the distance with the sublime 6.2-liter V8 in the C63 AMG. Like its rivals, Mercedes is expected to use turbochargers as a replacement for displacement in the next model, but unlike its Bavarian rival, it won't be losing any cylinders in the process.
Skipping the 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 that has gone on to power other AMG models, the next C63 AMG is still expected to introduce a new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing between 450 and 500 horsepower. It'll also reportedly keep the same seven-speed automatic transmission (instead of switching to the new nine-speed), but the jury's still out on whether it'll come with rear- or all-wheel drive (or offer buyers the choice). The downsized V8 - codenamed M177 - is then expected to find its way into other models, but the C-Class will be the first to get it when it arrives before the end of the new year ahead.

Mercedes rules out hybrid supercar, promises SLS successor

Sat, 16 Mar 2013

The recent Geneva Motor Show was a festival of hypercars, with the presence of not one, but three over-the-top debuts: the Lamborghini Veneno, McLaren P1 and Ferrari LeFerrari. The latter two have hitched their carbon fiber bumpers to the electrification bandwagon by using hybrid-electric powertrains not entirely unlike the propulsion systems we've come to know in cars like the Toyota Prius and Chevrolet Volt. Does that mean the flow of electrons up the four-wheeled food chain will eventually consume our hallowed supercars? Not if AMG has anything to say about it.
AMG Director of Vehicle Development Tobias Moers recently confirmed that not only will there be a successor to the Mercedes-Benz performance division's SLS AMG, he notes that its internal combustion engine will most definitely not be sharing living quarters with an electric drivetrain. Instead, AMG plans to focus on further pushing the power and efficiency envelope of the internal combustion engine and advancing the use of lightweight materials to achieve their goals. The first example of this effort can be seen in the new SLS AMG Black Series that incorporates many weight-saving techniques to shed some 154 pounds from the SLS AMG GT (above), which itself is lighter than the standard SLS AMG.
Furthermore, Moers remarks that his company is happy to leave the hypercar segment to companies like Ferrari and McLaren. He admits that, "Ferrari in the hyper-car segment is still a different brand than AMG. We have to be honest..." So rather than taking the SLS further upmarket to do battle with bulls and stallions, Moers hinted that the next-generation SLS may be joined by another performance model that fits neatly between itself and the C63 AMG.

Mercedes has already booked 30k orders for new S-Class

Mon, 21 Oct 2013

When Toyota snags 30,000 Corolla orders over a three-month span, it's entirely possible we're in the midst of a global economic collapse and that the end is nigh. That's because the scale for Toyota is so very large. Mercedes-Benz, on the other hand, operates on a much smaller scale, particularly when we talk about its higher-end models, like the S-Class.
In 2012, Mercedes sold 65,000 of its flagship sedans in Germany and the EU. That's 178 units per day, for 365 days. Based on that, you can imagine the excitement at Stuttgart when it accepted 30,000 orders for the new S-Class in just three months. That's an average of 333 per day on a continent with a notoriously shaky economy. Now, admittedly, this enthusiasm could wane as the refitted S-Class becomes more common and Mercedes achieves market saturation in Europe's many chauffeur and livery services, but Mercedes isn't choosing to look at it that way.
"The new S-Class has already jumped back into the lead in terms of new vehicle registrations in Germany and its neighboring European countries," Mercedes-Benz head of sales and marketing, Ola Kaellenius, said in a statement last week.
