Diesel Mercedes Benz E300 1997 Sedan Great Condition. on 2040-cars

Year:1997 Mileage:368004
Location:

Livingston, Montana, United States

I am parting with my Mercedes Diesel (non-turbo). This car has been really great. I purchased it in April, for work, and put 14000 miles on it with no problems. It has 368k on the odometer.   I had been looking at this model of Mercedes Benz nationwide and this one was the cleanest and the best I found. I am the 4th owner.  The previous owner was a diesel Mercedes affectionado.  He had one with 550k and another with 700k. They maintained this machine perfectly for roughly 89k. The 2nd owner, put the bulk of the miles on the vehicle and also maintained this machine by the book. The 2nd owner was a surgeon that commuted from Lookout Mountain, TN. To Atlanta, GA. Both owners used the same mechanic mostly. I have most records for repairs and services for the Mercedes. It is in great shape and anyone that knows anything about these diesels will tell you they can get more than 600k if maintained properly (especially the non turbo). The car still averages 31 mpg and runs perfectly. I just got 37mpg on a trip up to Whitefish, MT. a few weeks ago. I am selling this Mercedes because it is just too small for my work needs.

I had the Mercedes dealership in Athens, GA. perform the 120 point inspection (I have copies) before I purchased. I also did the carfax no wrecks etc. And had the 3rd owner's mechanic perform another pre-purchase inspection in order to cross check the dealers inspection.   The Engine electronics light comes on at start and I had the dealer check this as well as the previous owner's mechanic, and my mechanic.  It is a code for injectors 3 and 4.  All parties I have spoken with have said it was no rush to address this issue.  Doesn't affect performance at all.  If I was going to keep the car I would change the injectors as a matter of maintenance sometime in the next 12 months.  The car has run flawlessly since I have owned it and I hate to sell it, but the trunk space is just too small for me.

The KBB values this car at $5549 in Fair condition which is the KBB's lowest. This car qualifies for good condition but I used fair as a price point.

The car has New Bridgestones (less than 2k miles.) I purchased Bridgestone instead of Michelin because the Bridgestones had better ratings and reviews.

Recent oil change.
Fuel filter.
Trans service with all mercedes fluids and filters.

The Bad.
There a few small cracks on the dash.
The drivers side dash speaker has a small hole in it from my Stubborn GPS sticking to the windshield.
The Rear DS window does not work from the master control. But does work from the door.  Just a switch. $25
A small crack on the DS rear bumper molding.
The housing on the 3rd brake light is broken.  I have part number.
Cup holder is broken.

Aston Martin signs Letter of Intent for technical partnership with AMG

Thu, 25 Jul 2013

A little over two months ago came reports that Daimler and Aston Martin were in talks, again, about "supply and technical-cooperation agreements." The next step has been taken with Aston Martin announcing that it has signed a Letter of Intent that looks "towards a technical partnership" with Mercedes-AMG GmbH, and the two companies aiming to have definitive agreements done by year's end.
While it will get to use certain electric and electronic components from AMG, the true golden egg for the maker of the Vanquish will be the ability to develop a new line of "bespoke V8 powertrains" that will be fitted to "a new generation of models." In return for opening up the larder, Daimler will get a non-voting stake of up to five percent of Aston Martin.
Nothing else is being said about the tie-up for the moment, but there's a press release below with a few more details.

UK workers strand car on island of asphalt to keep working

Wed, 06 Feb 2013

Generally speaking, when you illegally park your car, you're likely to get ticketed and towed, but there is probably at least one motorist in Scotland who wishes that was the case. After workers had blocked off a portion of the parking lot for the Edinburgh Waverley railway station, the driver of this Mercedes-Benz S-Class reportedly moved some of the barriers to park in one of the empty spots.
Rather than having the vehicle towed, the work crew simply tore up the asphalt around the leaving just the one parking spot intact, and as you can see in the image above (posted to the Twitter account of Harold Norstad), the crew even built a small asphalt ramp so the car could get off its blacktop pedestal. Since this happened last week, there's no word as to whether the car was eventually moved or towed for the resurfacing work to continue.
Let this be a warning...

Mercedes releases 6x6 G63 AMG specs and pics [w/video]

Fri, 15 Mar 2013

Mercedes-Benz has finally dropped full details on its insane G63 AMG 6x6. The machine puts 544 horsepower to all six wheels thanks to a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8. A seven-speed gearbox shuttles power to the ground via three sets of portal axles, which helps give this machine a full 15.75 inches of ground clearance. By comparison, the standard G63 AMG sits with just 8.27 inches of ground clearance. The extra lift allows this 6x6 to ford nearly 40 inches of water and run massive 37-inch tires. All told, there are five differential locks on this thing, all controlled by a special "locking logic" that provides the best traction possible for any given situation.
The controls offer up three stages of locking, which we can only assume range from JKLOL to OMGWTF. Right now, AMG says this monstrosity is only a show vehicle, but we imagine it wouldn't take much to convince the team to whip up one of your very own. Check out our full gallery and the press release below for all the nitty gritty. While you're down there, you can also check out the video on the machine one more time.
