2004 E500 Silver on Ash (light gray) leather. Loaded with options including driver and passenger heated leather seats. Leather is near flawless. AirMatic suspension. 7-speed automatic paired with Mercedes V8 drives shifts smooth as butter and drives like floating on a cloud. I bought this E from a Mercedes technician in New Mexico who had hand-picked this car as his own. Before I picked it up he replaced all of the belts and hoses - new spark plugs - fresh oil change - transmission flush - and best of all we replaced the ball joints upper and lower. I flew into Albuquerque from Houston and drove all night back to Texas. It was 17 degrees and the heated leather seats felt really good. I drove 11 hours straight at 80-90 mph and it was like driving a dream. Plenty of power to get up and go - yet I averaged 22.8 mpg. The seven speed transmission has the engine turning only 2100 rpm at 85 mph so the fuel economy is as good as a V6. After I got it home I got new floor mats and changed out the stock leather steering wheel for a factory burlwood and leather combination steering wheel ($800). All together I have spent over $3,000 bringing the car up to my picky standards. I just bit the bullet and bought a new 2014 E Class and Mama says that our garage only has room for 3 cars so this one has to go. My loss and expense is absolutely your gain. This car needs absolutely nothing. ALL of the power options work as they should. The "sticker" price on this car was $62K so you can have Mercedes luxury at a fraction of new. Car drives super straight and glides down the highway. Check my feedback - I have bought and sold a number of luxury cars on ebay and I have always had a good experience. When I say something is near flawless and needs nothing-you can bid with confidence that you will be really happy to be the new owner. Aston Martin signs Letter of Intent for technical partnership with AMG
Thu, 25 Jul 2013A little over two months ago came reports that Daimler and Aston Martin were in talks, again, about "supply and technical-cooperation agreements." The next step has been taken with Aston Martin announcing that it has signed a Letter of Intent that looks "towards a technical partnership" with Mercedes-AMG GmbH, and the two companies aiming to have definitive agreements done by year's end.
While it will get to use certain electric and electronic components from AMG, the true golden egg for the maker of the Vanquish will be the ability to develop a new line of "bespoke V8 powertrains" that will be fitted to "a new generation of models." In return for opening up the larder, Daimler will get a non-voting stake of up to five percent of Aston Martin.
Nothing else is being said about the tie-up for the moment, but there's a press release below with a few more details.
Mercedes AMG and Cigarette Racing debut 2,220-HP electric motor boat
Thu, 14 Feb 2013Take the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG E-Cell, stretch it and take off the wheels then make it float and you've basically got the just-unveiled Cigarette AMG Electric Drive Concept. Powered by an all-electric powertrain that offers 2,200 horsepower and 2,213 pound-feet of torque (and uses "numerous components" taken from the not-quite-as-yellow SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive), the sleek concept is being called the "world's most powerful electric drive powerboat." What that means is a top speed of over 100 miles per hour from four 60-kWh lithium-ion batteries and two banks of six liquid-cooled, permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors. And the 240 kWh of total energy should provide plenty of juice out on the water.
Launched (but not literally) at the Miami International Boat Show today, the Cigarette AMG Electric Drive Concept is the result of a partnership between Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing. The boat is 38 feet long (much longer than the 15-foot SLS) and is plastered with AMG branding on the sides and top of the bow above the matte chrome yellow paint (officially called AMG Electricbeam mango). Two 220-kW chargers can refill the batteries, dockside, in about seven hours.
The idea of a powerful electric boat is nothing new (Henrik Fisker talked about a plug-in hybrid watercraft late last year), but this is the first time we've seen Mercedes put its EV technology on the water. Anyone who's afraid of driving an EV in the rain should take note. Check out the complete press release below.

Piloting an 8,500-pound motorized house down the highway is far from my idea of fun, yet inexplicably, I'm enjoying myself. My grin has nothing to do with my camper's handling, as this heavily accoutered Mercedes-Benz Sprinter drives like a 25-foot long breadbox. My smile has nothing to do with on-road stability, as the ten-foot-tall, slab-sided vehicle reacts to wind gusts like the vertical stabilizer on a Boeing jet. My delight has nothing to do with its throttle or braking response, either, as both are as numb as your forehead after the eighth beer.
This monstrosity makes me happy for one reason - my passengers are undeniably having a good time.
