For sale by owner. Great looking black on black Mercedees E430 Sport. Purchased on Ebay from a dealer in San Francisco in 2007, ran like a (fast) top ever since but a recent move to the snowy mountain top forces me to sell. The paint and interior have a few dings, and the front bumper has been replaced due to a crack. The exterior has minor scratches, a couple door dings, and the edge of the trunk lid was over-buffed at some point so the paint is a little thin, but barely noticeable. A jackstand cover is missing on the driver's side, I've been searching Ebay for years trying to find a replacement, but it is just a small square roughly 3" across and could be replicated by someone clever. The interior is in overall great shape, but the previous owner (San Francisco) had a small dog that chewed the leather on the rear armwrests a little. The rims are hot, 20" on the rear, 18" on the front, I purchased them in 2008 but only used them in the summer months (sorry, I sold the winter tires already). The A/C, heat, moonroof, and most controls work perfectly (the automatic rear headrest control hasn't worked since I've owned it, but I've never had the need to adjust the rear headrests). The spare tire is still in the trunk, the water pump and brakes were replaced late last year. I've kept the oil changes up to date and always use super unleaded fuel, the car has always turned heads and been a safe and fun ride. Mercedes-Benz intros long-wheelbase E-Class for China
Thu, 25 Apr 2013Long-wheelbase sedans are a pretty hot commodity in China, and to keep up with the competition, Mercedes-Benz has introduced an extended version of the 2014 E-Class sedan at the Shanghai Motor Show. Audi, BMW, Volvo and even Cadillac offer extended versions of sedans specific to the Chinese market, and now the E-Class L, shown off in E400L guise, will give luxury sedan buyers in China yet another option.
Compared to the standard 2014 E-Class sedan, the new China-spec E-Class L has been stretched by 5.5 inches - all of which goes to the rear-seat passengers. According to an article on China View from earlier in the year, the market for chauffeur-driven cars is growing in the Asian nation, so automakers need long-wheelbase models like the E-Class L in order to fully compete. As for what powers this stretched E-Class, it's available in three models: the diesel E260L, the V6-powered E300L and the E400 Hybrid.
The redesigned E-Class and the all-new A-Class are just the first of 20 new Mercedes-Benz products that will be introduced into the Chinese auto market by 2015. Scroll down for the full press release on long-wheelbase E.
Rare Isdera Imperator 108i flexes its considerable muscles
Mon, 05 Aug 2013The Isdera Imperator 108i is a remarkably rare supercar from the late 80s and early 90s. Born of a Mercedes-Benz concept car, it's powered by a range of AMG-developed V8s, with five to six liters of displacement, depending on the engine. The example shown here, lapping the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit, features the most potent 6.0-liter V8 available. And rather than just being driven about on a perfectly clean racing line, it's freaking power sliding!
Yes, there's something eternally childlike about a wedge-shaped supercar from our formative years being flung about a Belgian racetrack. Adding to the appeal is the Imperator's stumpy, periscopic rear mirror, sticking out of the roof. Even after being out of production for 20 years, this is still a wild, wild car and we'd happily snap up the opportunity pilot one of the 36 Isderas that were built. X1, 3 Series power BMW back into global luxury autos sales lead
Thu, 14 Mar 2013BMW managed to eke ahead of Audi for the global luxury sales crown in February. According to Bloomberg, BMW saw deliveries swell by 7 percent in February, besting the 3.2 percent jump enjoyed by Audi and giving BMW a 407-unit delivery lead over its rival last month. Mercedes-Benz, meanwhile, continued to falter, with the brand selling some 37,229 fewer machines than BMW, whose factories are running at full capacity to keep up with demand. Models like the X1 (shown above) enjoyed a sales increase of 40 percent in February while the company's bread-and-butter 3 Series jumped by 26 percent.
Mercedes-Benz hopes to stem its continued market share loss with the addition of the entry-level CLA sedan to its portfolio in April. The company is set to roll out an updated version of its cash-cow E-Class at the same time, and a new-generation S-Class will follow along shortly thereafter. Meanwhile, the company is increasing production to meet demand for its A and B-Class models.
