THEIR IS A LEAK SOMEWHERE. IT HAS A NEW COMPRESSOR. IT WILL NOT START AND I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT IN TO A MECHANIC. ONE OF MY EMPLOYEES DROVE IT HOME AND THE NEXT MORNING IT WOULD NOT START. IT CRANKS OVER GOOD AND DOES NOT MAKE ANY NOISE. IT MAY BE A SENSOR OR A PLUG FUILD LINE OR IT COULD BE THE FUILD PUMP OR MAYBE THE INJETURE PUMP. IT MAY HAVE SOME OF THE TRIM MISSING. WHEN IT QUIT STARTING I HAD BEEN DRIVING IT TO WORK AND BACK AND IT GOT RIGHT AT 30 MILES PER GAL. I WILL NEED A 50 % DEPOSIT THRU PAYPAL WITHIN 24 HOURS OF AUCTION. IF YOU BUY IT THRU BUY IT NOW I WILL NEED THE $3000.00 WITHIN 24 HOURS"

THIS IS A 1998 MERCEDES E 300 TURBO DIESEL WITH A 3.0 LITER 24 VALVE 6- CYLINDER FUEL INJECTION. IT HAS A LOT OF MILES ON IT BUT IT DID NOT USE MUCH OIL WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT. WE PUT ABOUT 60000 MILES ON IT AND OUT SIDE THE AIR CONDITIONER WE NEVER HAD ANY TROUBLE WITH IT. I PAID JACKIE COOPER MECHANICS ABOUT $3400 TO FIX THE AIR BUT THEY NEVER GOT THE JOB DONE, THEY REPLACE MOST OF THE HIGH DOLLAR PARTS BUT THERE HAS TO BE A SMALL LEAK SOMEWHERE. THE TIRES ONLY HAVE ABOUT 3000 MILES ON THEM.THE RADIO WORKS REAL GOOD BUT THE CD PLAYER DOES NOT WORK. IF YOU CAN FIGURE OUT THE STARTING PROBLEM THIS WOULD BE A NICE WORK CAR.

LA To The Grand Canyon In The Mercedes-Benz Of RVs
Piloting an 8,500-pound motorized house down the highway is far from my idea of fun, yet inexplicably, I'm enjoying myself. My grin has nothing to do with my camper's handling, as this heavily accoutered Mercedes-Benz Sprinter drives like a 25-foot long breadbox. My smile has nothing to do with on-road stability, as the ten-foot-tall, slab-sided vehicle reacts to wind gusts like the vertical stabilizer on a Boeing jet. My delight has nothing to do with its throttle or braking response, either, as both are as numb as your forehead after the eighth beer.
This monstrosity makes me happy for one reason - my passengers are undeniably having a good time.

Consumer Reports selling its road-tested roadsters [w/video]

Thu, 31 Jan 2013

Here's a chance to acquire a celebrity-owned vehicles, and this time at a discount instead of a premium. So the celebrity in this case is Consumer Reports, that magazine that could be equally adored and abhored by car enthusiasts. CR buys all of its test vehicles and usually finds willing second owners within its own ranks, but its opening its small used-car lot to the public. On the forecourt are four roadsters: an automatic 2012 Audi TT 2.0 TFSI Quattro S-Tronic with 6,600 miles for $36,500, a manual 2012 BMW Z4 sDrive28i with 8,400 miles for $45,000, a manual 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK250 for $39,500 and a manual 2013 Porsche Boxster with 7,000 miles for $48,000.
Those numbers mean a savings of $9,000 to $10,000 before haggling - each car is listed with an "Asking price" so there could be some wiggle room if you show up with pockets full of dough and eyes full of serious intent. Since the money CR earns from the sales go back into the magazine's budget to buy more test cars, however, it probably won't take any oddball trades, so you can forget about getting any purchasing help from that track-day AMC Javelin project on blocks in the back yard.
The vehicles have been taken care of and spiffed up for sale; buyers will take delivery at the CR test track in East Haddam, Connecticut and get a tour of the facilities. While you're there they'll even take you on a lap around the track so you can feel how your car handles when driven by one of its testers. They will probably not help you with advice on which toaster and dehumidifier to buy - you'll still need to get a subscription for that. Have a look at the video below to see a day in the life of a CR test car.

Daimler employees can set email to auto-delete during vacation

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

The Internet has shrunk the world in terms of the way people communicate by making it possible to send an email from Oslo and have it show up in Cleveland almost immediately. But that instant contact has wrecked the work/life balance for many. They get home from a long day at the office, yet they can never fully put their feet up and relax because another hour or more of checking and replying to emails awaits. However, German automotive giant Daimler is putting an end to that churn, at least while its employees are on vacation.
About 100,000 Daimler employees in Germany are eligible to opt-in to a new program called Mail on Holiday, according to The Atlantic. When the workers go on vacation, they can switch it on, and the service auto-deletes all of their incoming email. "Our employees should relax on holiday and not read work-related emails," said Wilfried Porth, board member for human resources, to The Financial Times as cited by The Atlantic.
Mail on Holiday puts a thumb on the scale of work/life balance in favor of a little more free time. The system means that Daimler employees shouldn't even be tempted to check their email on vacation because there's nothing there - and it also avoids them coming back from a relaxing holiday only to find a mailbox packed full of hundreds of unread messages. These days, people are absolutely obsessed with their work, often to the detriment of their health, not to mention spending time with their families and friends. On one hand, Mail on Holiday sounds like the sort of vacation breakthrough we'd need to truly unplug and unwind, but on the other hand, it makes our skin crawl just thinking about the lack of communication. What's your perspective? Have your say in Comments.
