1995 Mercedes-benz E300 Base Sedan 4-door 3.0l on 2040-cars

Year:1995 Mileage:238273
Location:

Phoenix, Arizona, United States

Phoenix, Arizona, United States

For sale: Bernadette. I love her, but times they are a'changin. . ..

Stats: 1995 E 300 Diesel, Built by Mercedes Benz in 1993. 239,xxx miles on a beautiful, yet imperfect body.

So you want a diesel benz?. . ...good, you're looking at one. I am debating deeply about parting with this car, but I have too many, and another business starting up.

OM 606 non-turbo engine, probably made from melted down panzer tanks. Slow, but indestructible. When I moved her out here from Georgia, our cross country average, loaded down with bags/dogs/etc was 31.2mpg. Try THAT in a honda. These engines are good for 500-1000K. That is not a typo. There is one, which was a former taxicab in Europe in the benz museum with1.4 MILLION kilometers on it.

I put a lot of work into the mechanicals of this car over the last year. The list is as follows, with pricing:

- Glow Plugs ($380)
- engine wiring harness ($950)
- rebuilt and digitally calibrated injectors by KermaTDI ($755)
- pre-chambers cleaned
- radiator, thermostat, water pump and hoses and new coolant with Purple Ice added ($855)
- vacuum pump ($350)
- belt tensioner ($155)
- all 3 fuel filters (including the one in the tank, which is a PITA to do) ($300)
- iPhone compatible radio with USB cord ($200)
- a/c recharge ($50)
- fan clutch ($150)
- flex discs in driveline ($225)
- air filter
- trans fluid DRAIN AND FILL. NOT FLUSH. ($85)
- new injection pump delivery valve seals and springs ($250)
- replaced fuel injection return lines ($150)
- Rotella 15W40 oil
- tires

The bad part of this car is the front and rear bumpers. They could use replacing. The parts for both are about $300 total, and labor to paint and install is about the same. I've taken down price accordingly. They don't bother me much, but some people might get annoyed.

Interior is nice, small tear on driver's seat, but MB-TEX is tough stuff.

I know that KBB on these cars is low. You don't have to tell me. However, I have OVER $2000 in work done to this thing over the last year, and its been setup to do its job, which is transport me over the freeways safely, comfortably and with minimal fuel consumption. Can you go find a cheaper one? Absolutely. Will you have to go back and make all the repairs I've listed above? You bet your behind you will. So don't cry about the price.

LA, frequented by me, is 2/3 of a tank of diesel from PHX. Flagstaff and back is the same.

Fires right up, no blowby, just good healthy diesel clatter.

This is a great car for someone in sales, or someone learning to drive. Nothing, and I do mean nothing, happens quickly. They are safe as all get out, due to having airbags, and weighing about as much as a mack truck.

This was the LAST year that these cars were ALL-GERMAN built, in GERMANY. The quality shows.

I've used either mercedes parts, or Behr (their parts supplier). No cheap chinese junk in this thing, it's too nice.

Cash, check, whatever. I've got a CLEAN title from GEORGIA, where this is registered. We will meet at a Wells Fargo (my bank) do transfer money for a notarized title. I'll listen to considered offers, but lets not waste each other's time please...

Cheap to insure, lovely to drive, and you might see a grown man cry when you buy it. That's got to be worth something, right?

VW looking to MAN up, ditch Mercedes van deal

    Wed, 16 Jan 2013

Unlike the US, the commercial truck market throughout the rest of the world is chocked full of competitors from many different automakers. Since 2006, Volkswagen has had a fullsize van called the Crafter that was a result of a partnership with Daimler AG and based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. This partnership is supposed to last through 2016, but Reuters is reporting that VW might be looking to end its relationship with Daimler and create its own van in cooperation with German truck and bus maker MAN.
The article says that VW AG has more than a 75-percent stake in MAN, which would essentially be keeping the new commercial vehicle in-house. Even if VW bolts, Daimler still has a deal worked out in the commercial truck industry between its subsidiary Mitsubishi Fuso and Renault-Nissan to supply the other with different trucks.

Mercedes releases 6x6 G63 AMG specs and pics [w/video]

    Fri, 15 Mar 2013

Mercedes-Benz has finally dropped full details on its insane G63 AMG 6x6. The machine puts 544 horsepower to all six wheels thanks to a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8. A seven-speed gearbox shuttles power to the ground via three sets of portal axles, which helps give this machine a full 15.75 inches of ground clearance. By comparison, the standard G63 AMG sits with just 8.27 inches of ground clearance. The extra lift allows this 6x6 to ford nearly 40 inches of water and run massive 37-inch tires. All told, there are five differential locks on this thing, all controlled by a special "locking logic" that provides the best traction possible for any given situation.
The controls offer up three stages of locking, which we can only assume range from JKLOL to OMGWTF. Right now, AMG says this monstrosity is only a show vehicle, but we imagine it wouldn't take much to convince the team to whip up one of your very own. Check out our full gallery and the press release below for all the nitty gritty. While you're down there, you can also check out the video on the machine one more time.

X1, 3 Series power BMW back into global luxury autos sales lead

    Thu, 14 Mar 2013

BMW managed to eke ahead of Audi for the global luxury sales crown in February. According to Bloomberg, BMW saw deliveries swell by 7 percent in February, besting the 3.2 percent jump enjoyed by Audi and giving BMW a 407-unit delivery lead over its rival last month. Mercedes-Benz, meanwhile, continued to falter, with the brand selling some 37,229 fewer machines than BMW, whose factories are running at full capacity to keep up with demand. Models like the X1 (shown above) enjoyed a sales increase of 40 percent in February while the company's bread-and-butter 3 Series jumped by 26 percent.
Mercedes-Benz hopes to stem its continued market share loss with the addition of the entry-level CLA sedan to its portfolio in April. The company is set to roll out an updated version of its cash-cow E-Class at the same time, and a new-generation S-Class will follow along shortly thereafter. Meanwhile, the company is increasing production to meet demand for its A and B-Class models.
