Very rare/clean CL600 Mercedes-Benz. 2001 with only 58k miles. MSRP 117k. Blue-book is 21-26k. All paperwork on car; very well kept with only 3 owners. Non-smoking history. Stereo has been upgraded for iPod dock, and subwoofer easy install in trunk (though I typically just used tape adapter). Also CD magazine for trunk. 9-speaker bose system. Executive leather, suede lining on roof. 16way power seats that are heated and also air conditioned. Beautiful car. Still turns heads even in 2014.
Downside: minor flaws-- was rear-ended around 2007, cracked the paint on the bottom of the rear bumper. Was/is barely noticeable- not worth the 500$ deductible. Small chip on the finish of the steering wheel. Sometimes the button for the sunroof sticks-- but ultimately still works. The paint/finish on the right steering wheel buttons has rubbed off. Easy replacement for buttons. |

Popular Science magazine's Best Of What's New 2012 all ate up with cars

Europe getting special Mercedes-Benz CLA Edition 1
Mon, 11 Feb 2013Last week when we saw the leaked ordering guide for the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class, one particular image caught our eye showing the interior of the new sedan with a neon yellow stripe on the seats and yellow stitching throughout the cabin. As it turns out, this will be part of a limited-edition model called the Edition 1 about which Mercedes-Benz just released some information.
Usually, automakers wait until later in a vehicle's life to introduce special models like this, but the Edition 1 will be available right out of the gate for the first 12 months the CLA-Class is on sale. The 2014 CLA-Class Edition 1 includes the more aggressive Sport package adding AMG-style fascias and wheels, Bi-Xenon headlights and a lowered suspension; it will be offered only in five colors - unfortunately, Northern Lights Purple is not one of them. In addition to the bright yellow cabin accents, the Edition 1 will get sport seats wrapped in leather and microfiber, a sporty, flat-bottom steering wheel wrapped in Nappa leather and real aluminum trim on the instrument panel.
With no mention of the US, we're only left to imagine that this car will not be arriving on our shores, but customers in Europe will definitely be able to enjoy the mean styling and funky interior with prices ranging from 35,402 euros up to 43,940 euros.
Online Find of the Day: Lexus-engined Mercedes pickup is a vintage hybrid
Tue, 16 Sep 2014You have to love someone who gets incredibly committed to a very weird idea. What you see for sale here is a right-hand drive 1971 Mercedes-Benz 220D in South Africa, but this old Mercedes is now converted into a pickup, complete with bed cover, and there's big secret under the hood, too.
The pickup conversion appears well done based on seller Sedgefield Classic Cars' photos. Even the tonneau cover fits well. You could almost believe that this Mercedes lived its life as a Chevrolet El Camino-like pickup from the very beginning.
However, the rear-quarters conversion might not be the weirdest thing about this Mercedes. The original diesel is gone from the engine bay in favor of a Lexus V8. It seems really odd to pop the hood and find a Japanese mill in this German car, but the photos make it look like a fairly well performed swap. So, bravo to the crazy thinking. According to the seller speaking to Autoblog by email, "as far as we can establish, this was done a few years ago, with all Lexus components."
