All buyers MUST make a non-refundable deposit of $500 within 24 hours of auction end via Paypal.  This is now a requirement on all my vehicle auctions due to the increased amount of NON-PAYING bidders.  There will be NO EXCEPTIONS to this requirement due to prior bad experiences.  If we do not have a deposit or contact from the buyer within 24 hours, we reserve the right to sell the vehicle to a back up buyer.  Remaining payment must be cash (in person), wire transfer or cashier’s check.  We do not accept Paypal for payment in full due to the high fees.  In addition, eBay will only allow us to accept Paypal for the deposit and requires we select another method of payment for the balance.  Vehicle is sold AS-IS WHERE-IS with no warranties expressed or implied.  Local bidders are encouraged to make an appointment to view the vehicle.  Vehicles may be seen by appointment only!  This vehicle is being advertised heavily for local sale.  Auction may end at anytime due to vehicle being sold locally, or if an interested party wants to buy it at the locally advertised price.  Bid early and often!! eBay Seller DOWLSET is acting as a listing agent in selling this vehicle on consignment for the owner, a FL Dealer.  All information listed here is either supplied by the owner, obtained from maintenance records left in the vehicle if any and/or is based on visual (walk-around) observation of the item and a test drive.  I am not a mechanic nor do I claim to be, if you ask a mechanical question about this item, and there are no maintenance records available, your question will be answered to the best of my ability.  We announce any service lights that may be on at the time of inspection for the buyer's information and research only.  We do not troubleshoot or offer any guarantees.  Any mechanical conditions or symptoms described in this description or in any correspondence related to this listing is for the buyer’s information only.  They are not intended to be a complete diagnosis or any guarantee as to any mechanical condition or repairs needed.    Factory installed options are listed in the description.  We make every effort to test them and make sure they are working but there are no guarantees on any options.  Occasionally we may miss a window that doesn’t go up or down or an AC that needs a charge.  I don’t always test A/C when it’s ten degrees here or test heat when its ninety out.  If we know an option is not functioning properly we will list it in the item description, this disclaimer is only to cover me in the rare instance I miss something.  These are used wholesale vehicles and most are obtained from new car dealers as trade-ins, please expect the normal wear and tear for a used car, brakes, front end, tires etc.  They are sold as used at low prices and are not certified pre-owned.  We do not put them through any mechanical inspection.  Certified pre-owned car equals certified pre-owned price.  We offer our vehicles at no reserve, you as the buyer pick the price.  Mileage may vary slightly from advertised mileage due to prospective buyer test drives.

This vehicle will be selling at a "NO RESERVE" auction, however this vehicle is being advertised locally at an asking price of $6900.  Auction may end at anytime if a prospective buyer is interested in the vehicle at the asking price so bid early and often!!

Mercedes takes VW Westfalia Camper idea upscale with new Marco Polo

Wed, 09 Jul 2014

Earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz revealed the new V-Class. Slotting in below the popular Sprinter, the new V-Class replaced both the Viano and Vito upon its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. But Mercedes isn't quite done with it just yet. At the upcoming Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, Germany, Mercedes will reveal the Marco Polo - a versatile, stylish and decidedly contemporary take on the classic camper van.
Named after the famous Italian explorer, the Marco Polo was converted by Westfalia, an outfit which you might more closely associate with classic VW camper vans but which Daimler absorbed over a decade ago. Offering, according to the press release below, "a maximum of opportunities to be independent, free and spontaneous," the Marco Polo sleeps four thanks to the rear bench that electrically folds flat into a bed and the second berth under the pop-top. The flexible interior is decked out like you'd expect a modern Mercedes to be, with ambient LED lighting as well as wood, metal and piano black trim.
It's got an onboard kitchenette with two gas burners, a sink and fridge with a 10 gallons of fresh water and an even bigger waste tank. All that gear is shlepped around by a choice of four-cylinder turbodiesel engines ranging in output from 136 to 190 horsepower. The relatively compact form boasts a turning circle similar to a full-size sedan and a height designed to fit into most garages and car washes. All of which just might make us reconsider the appeal of traveling by camper van.

Ecclestone wonders if F1's upcoming turbo V6s should get augmented sound [w/videos]

Mon, 08 Apr 2013

While every team on the Formula One grid is worried about making a good showing in this year's championship at the same time as they develop a brand-new car for next year's championship, Bernie Ecclestone and F1 circuit promoters have a different concern: how next year's cars will sound. The current cars use 2.4-liter, naturally-aspirated V8s that can reach 18,000 revolutions per minute and employ dual exhaust, next year's engine formula calls for 1.4-liter turbocharged V6s that are capped at 15,000 rpm and are constrained to a single exhaust outlet. Ecclestone and promoters like Ron Walker believe the new engines sound like lawnmowers and that the less thrilling audio will keep people from coming to races. If Walker's Australian Grand Prix really is shelling out almost $57 million to hold the race, every ticket counts. As a fix, according to a report in Autoweek, Ecclestone "suggests that the only way to guarantee [a good sound] may be to artificially adjust the tone of the V6s."
However, neither the manufacturers nor the governing body of F1, the FIA, think there will be a problem. Ecclestone fears that if the manufacturers "don't get it right" they'll simply leave the sport, but the only three carmakers and engine builders left next year, Renault (its 2014 "power unit" is pictured), Mercedes-Benz and Ferrari are so embedded that it would stretch belief to think they'd leave the table over an audio hiccup - if said hiccup even occurs. And frankly, these issues always precede changes to engine formulas, as they did when the formula switched from V10 to V8; fans, though, are probably less focused on the engines and more on the mandated standardization of the sport and the spec-series overtones that have come with it.
No one knows yet what next year's engines will sound like, but we've assembled a few videos below to help us all start guessing. The first is an engine check on an Eighties-era John Player Special Renault with a 1.5-liter V6 turbo, after that is Ayrton Senna qualifying in 1986 in the Lotus 98T that also had a 1.5-liter V6 turbo, then you'll find a short with a manufactured range of potential V6 engine notes, and then the sound of turbocharged V6 Indycars testing last year at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Any, or none of them, could be Formula One's future.

Mercedes-Benz releases US-spec 2014 Sprinter details

Mon, 06 May 2013

Last week, Mercedes-Benz released the details for the updated 2013 Sprinter intended for global markets, but this week it has announced what changes are being made to the US-spec version of the van for the 2014 model year, including the Freightliner model. As expected, most of the changes made to the European model will be present on the 2014 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter when it goes on sale in the US, which is expected to be this fall.
The biggest difference between the Sprinter announced last week and the one headed to our shores is what is found under the hood. While European Sprinters will come with diesel engines and offer the availability of a supercharged four-cylinder gasoline or CNG engine, US Sprinters will still offer the 3.0-liter V6 BlueTEC diesel. This year's Sprinter now comes standard with a new base engine, the 2.1-liter four-cylinder BlueTEC diesel. This smaller engine will produce 161 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque, and will be paired to a seven-speed automatic transmission; the optional 3.0 V6 puts out 188 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque, and will be mated to a six-speed auto.
Fuel economy for the new Sprinter has not been announced, but Mercedes-Benz has made numerous changes with the goal of improving efficiency. To this end you'll find a new, low-friction rear axle and the optimization for the generator, fuel pump and power steering pump.
