I am selling a 1992 mercedes benz sl500. I bought this car over the summer to rebuild. I started to rebuild it and so far what i have done is redo the seats I re died the door panels the majority of the interior is done just needs a few things like the pillars dome light and mirror cover. I rebuilt all the hydraulic top cylinders there are no leaks in the hydraulic cylinders. It needs one valve block for the top locking mechanism rebuilt It leaks a little that should only cost about $50. I replaced the door vacuum pump. Haven't got the key to work with unlocking the door with the button i believe it needs to be programed. I had lower control arm bushings replaced by a shop down the street it still needs an alignment . The engine runs rough like it has a misfire on 2 cylinders. What i have started to do with the engine is had the vacuum checked for leaks and they said there are no leaks i changed the exhaust system to a good used one i changed the spark plugs. The shop that i use doesn't have a tool to read the car so we were just guessing at what could be wrong with it. I am giving up on finishing this car because my mechanic just keeps guessing wrong. When I got the car the airbag on the steering wheel deployed and i haven't fixed it yet on ebay they go between $50 and $70 the last time i checked. the car could have some other issues that I'm not aware of. The engine runs and drives and car shifts. But it runs rough i have driven it down the street there is no rod knock or spun bearing or bent valve it just needs someone with some mercedes experience to go over it. Next Mercedes-Benz C-Class to get diesel, hybrid versions
Tue, 16 Apr 2013Mercedes-Benz is planning a more aggressive product strategy for its next-generation C-Class range. "We were fighting the 3 Series with two arms tied behind our back, and now we will change that," Steve Cannon, the automaker's US CEO, told Automotive News in a recent interview.
In addition to offering more body styles of the new C-Class, AN reports that the revamped Mercedes will also be offered here with hybrid and diesel powertrains. Currently, the C-Class comes in coupe and sedan variants, with only gasoline engines. The BMW 3 Series, however, is available as a sedan, coupe, convertible and wagon, and offers buyers the choice of gasoline, diesel (the upcoming 328d) or hybrid power.
Mercedes-Benz will show the next-generation C-Class at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, with sales of the US-built sedan following in August. Coupe, convertible and hybrid models will follow in early 2015, and while diesel and all-wheel-drive versions are planned, no specific timetable has been released regarding availability.
Mercedes-AMG teases GT interior, announces fall 2014 debut
Tue, 15 Apr 2014Mercedes-Benz opted to tease the assembled media at its post-New York Auto Show party, showing off a pair of images of the exquisitely crafted interior of the highly anticipated successor of the SLS AMG - the V8-powered Mercedes-AMG GT.
Slated for a debut in the fall at either Paris or Los Angeles (we're betting Paris), you'll note straight away that there's something wrong with this car's name. Where's the "Benz?" Well, it's been ditched to, as Mercedes says, "make the dream of the authentic Mercedes-AMG sports car come true." Sorry Karl.
"The new Mercedes-AMG GT proves that we will be positioning AMG as a dynamic sports car brand even more strongly and aggressively than before," said Tobias Moers, CEO of Mercedes-AMG.
2014 Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-in Hybrid for fat cats frugal with fuel
Thu, 12 Sep 2013Judging by how long we waited to get a clear shot of the Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-in Hybrid, you'd have thought hybrid cars were only driven by Terminators and that the technology arrived only 48 hours ago through a wormhole in the Mercedes stand. The newest member of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class hybrid band - joining the S400 Hybrid and S350 BlueTEC Hybrid, it hits notes like a 5.5-second sprint from standstill to 62 miles per hour, up to 19 miles of ion-powered running and uses three liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers in Europe (78.41 mpg US, but our mpg test cycle is different than their mpg test cycle).
The lump up front is a turbocharged, 3.0-liter V6, the lump in back - note the reduction in trunk space - is a pack of lithium-ion batteries that juice an 80-kilowatt electric motor. Other than having four drive options for controlling electric drive and battery usage, it's all S-Class all the time, with leather-covered everything and those mountainous thrones that bring to mind words like "Archduke" and "Papal."
