If you are looking at this vehicle I assume you know what it is. These Mercedes diesels are known to de some of the longest lasting cars ever to be built. The SDL or long version was only produced in 68 and 87. I purchased this car from one of my employees. This owner drove it for over 120k of its life. During his ownership he preformed full synthetic oil changes every 3k miles. For those of you that know diesels that is 1/2 of the actual oil life. This engine is very fresh with absolutely no blow by. Everything functions including cold AC, sunroof and cruise, items that often do not work on these cars. I drive this car daily and typically get 32-36mpg. Two weeks ago I filled up before driving to Dale Hollow in KY. I was able to complete a 740 mile trip on one tank. This car is mostly stock with the exception of an updated radio, front speakers that were no good, and new exhaust. Other recent items include new brakes, fuel purge, oil change, and transmission fluid flush. There is a good deal of wear on the drivers seat but nothing that cant be solved with a nice set of seat covers. The carpet and other interior components are in good clean condition. The miles are currently at 264k with no sign of any issues. I would in no way hesitate to drive this car coast to coast tomorrow. I now have a company vehicle and will no longer have need for this car. If you have looked at these cars on Ebay you know because of there longevity they easily bring 6,000 dollars and more in well maintained condition. Many people desire these because of their ability to easily run off of vegi grease and bio diesel blends that cost a fraction of the cost of pump diesel. Since I am not in the market for another vehicle I will not be open to trades only outright sale. I have the clean Indiana title in hand.

Thank You for looking.

2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Coupe

Thu, 31 Jan 2013

Mercedes-Benz upgraded its SLS flagship Coupe and Roadster for the 2013 model year, and the changes are marked with them new "GT" nomenclature. Both SLS models arrive with a retuned naturally aspired 6.2-liter V8 delivering 583 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque (the horses are up from 563, but the torque remains the same) mated to a revised seven-speed AMG Speedshift dual-clutch gearbox. Rounding out the mechanical upgrades is a redeveloped AMG two-mode adaptive suspension. Physically, the revised models are differentiated by their new "GT" badging, darkened headlight/taillight buckets, red brake calipers, unique wheel colors and high gloss finish on the front grille, exterior mirrors and hood/fender fins. Inside the cabin are new red seatbelts, Alcantara upholstery and contrasting red stitching.
As it is nearly impossible to experience the aluminum gullwing beast on public roads, Mercedes invited out to Southern California's Willow Springs to wring out the 2013 SLS GT Coupe on a racing circuit.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

Mercedes rules out hybrid supercar, promises SLS successor

Sat, 16 Mar 2013

The recent Geneva Motor Show was a festival of hypercars, with the presence of not one, but three over-the-top debuts: the Lamborghini Veneno, McLaren P1 and Ferrari LeFerrari. The latter two have hitched their carbon fiber bumpers to the electrification bandwagon by using hybrid-electric powertrains not entirely unlike the propulsion systems we've come to know in cars like the Toyota Prius and Chevrolet Volt. Does that mean the flow of electrons up the four-wheeled food chain will eventually consume our hallowed supercars? Not if AMG has anything to say about it.
AMG Director of Vehicle Development Tobias Moers recently confirmed that not only will there be a successor to the Mercedes-Benz performance division's SLS AMG, he notes that its internal combustion engine will most definitely not be sharing living quarters with an electric drivetrain. Instead, AMG plans to focus on further pushing the power and efficiency envelope of the internal combustion engine and advancing the use of lightweight materials to achieve their goals. The first example of this effort can be seen in the new SLS AMG Black Series that incorporates many weight-saving techniques to shed some 154 pounds from the SLS AMG GT (above), which itself is lighter than the standard SLS AMG.
Furthermore, Moers remarks that his company is happy to leave the hypercar segment to companies like Ferrari and McLaren. He admits that, "Ferrari in the hyper-car segment is still a different brand than AMG. We have to be honest..." So rather than taking the SLS further upmarket to do battle with bulls and stallions, Moers hinted that the next-generation SLS may be joined by another performance model that fits neatly between itself and the C63 AMG.
