It is a right hand drive Hong Kong delivery 1989 Mercedes Benz 300CE which has been completely stripped down and converted into a 3.6L AMG twin turbo monster. These cars were available in the 1990s from UK Mercedes dealer Hughes of Beaconsfield. Limited to 75 conversions world wide. 50 of these conversion were performed on UK cars by Hughes and 25 conversions like this one were performed on used cars by other installers around the world. Of the 75 total kits, approximately 25 were made for each popular variant of the inline 6 engine used in the W124 series (3.0L CIS-E M103, 3.0L CIS-E M104, 3.2L HFM M104). This car was converted by Prestige Car Service Centre in Melbourne using one of the very few 3.2L HFM M104 kits made for 3rd party conversion. Revisions were made to the standard conversion to accommodate the stroked AMG engine and improve performance. This car features: Updated W124 body Black leather interior Recaro Classic C seats Burled walnut interior Custom built M104.982 engine: -3558cc displacement (90.40mm bore, 92.40mm stroke) -Forged CP pistons -AMG C36 crankshaft -Turbo Technics rods -Ported & polished head -Twin GT28RS turbochargers -Water methanol injection system -Full Turbo Technics intercooled twin turbo conversion Full stainless steel twin 3" dual tip sport exhaust (loud as the apocalypse! you may want to invest in catalytic converters and/or another muffler) MicroTech ECU eBoost2 electronic boost controller Retrofitted 722.6 5-speed auto transmission w/ cooler Quaife Limited Slip Differential Koni struts/shocks Eibach lowered sport springs Custom front & rear antisway bars 500SL 4-piston brakes AMG alloy wheels 17x7.5 & 17x8.5

On 21-Oct-13 at 20:19:51 EDT, seller added the following information:

While we're waiting for the updated dyno chart, I added a scan of a previous chart from 2010.  At the time the car had a very restrictive exhaust 2x2" exhaust and intercooler.  The car now has a free flowing 2x3" exhaust and water methanol cooling to replace the intercooler.

Mercedes-AMG GT attacks Circuit of the Americas

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Mercedes-Benz is having a banner year with its Formula One team. Through 2014, the constructor has 454 championship points; ahead of its nearest competitor (Red Bull-Renault) by a margin of 182 tally marks. We're sure they can almost taste the champagne.
It's fitting then, and a little big cocky in a good way, that Mercedes has released a video of its newest sports car at an F1 venue. In this case, the car is the lovely Mercedes-AMG GT S, and the racetrack is Austin's Circuit of the Americas.
Having seen the official photo set and scratched the surface of the technical specifications earlier this week, we're excited to finally hear the thing run. As you might guess, the deployment of 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque from the twin-turbo V8 is a motivating experience. Crank up your volume, and hit that play button. (Oh, and Mercedes shot the thing in 4K, too, so those of you with expensive televisions/monitors should take heed to the settings.)

Mercedes CLA45 AMG Racing is ready for a spot on the grid

Tue, 10 Sep 2013

Mercedes-Benz trotted out its CLA45 AMG-based racer at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. We first showed you the sedan in the deluge of news and reveals that precedes most good auto shows, and were blown away by the car, formally known as the CLA45 AMG Racing Series.
We were strolling by the Mercedes stand, and figured we'd pop in and take a look at the new racer and its carbon-fiber body panels, gutted interior, and race-sourced aero parts. It's a looker, both as a road car and a track weapon. It's not clear what series the CLA45 AMG will qualify for, although it does seem like a shoe-in for the World Touring Car Championship. Let us know what you think of the CLA racer down in the comments. In the meantime, we've got a full gallery of live images up top, along with the stock images that were posted last week on the Mercedes-Benz Facebook page.

Next Mercedes S-Class stretching into this 600 Pullman limo

Fri, 15 Mar 2013

To the concern of nobody in particular, Mercedes-Benz will not be re-upping its Maybach line of ultra-luxury limousines. No, instead the German automaker will be stretching its already roomy S-Class, to make this upcoming 600 Pullman version of the decked-out beast.
The car in our new gallery of spy shots is sporting beefy B-pillars and a massive set of rear doors that should allow perfectly graceful ingress and egress from what is likely to be a palatial rear space. (In one photo we can even see a long-wheelbase S-Class in line with the new Pullman, handily exhibiting the size of the new variant.) The exterior modifications are otherwise obscured, though we can guess at revised front and rear fascia and lighting elements, based on both end being heavily taped for these test runs.
It's a good bet that the Pullman will make use of M-B's twin-turbocharged V12 engine, though sources indicate that a hybrid version might eventually be in the offing, as well.
