                Solid 1967 Mercedes Benz 200 Series sedan, the iconic " heckflosse " or fintail W111 four door Mercedes of the early sixties. They were introduced in late 1959 to replace the aging pontoon sedans in Germany and production began in 1960.

The last of the heckflossen rolled out of German production lines in late 1967. This W111 body ( and its shorter-wheelbase cousin the W110 taxi body) became one of the most iconic European sedans of their day, and have become cult classics today.

 This 200 Series is a 230 S B, with the bulletproof 2.3L straight six cylinder motor, which is nearly indestructible ( how many Japanese cars can say that?!). I am leaving for overseas duty in Kuwait and I am forced to sell some of the projects I will not be able to attend to.

           This 230s is fairly Spartan as most were, not overloaded with electric gadgets or power accessories of the day. As such, it has Manual windows and door locks, no sunroof, no ac. Less things to break. Being a late 1967 W111 fintail, it DOES have the much-needed Power-assist steering, and super nice, revised Power disc brakes in place of the nightmarish obsolete drums.

The automatic transmission shifted very well into all forward and reverse gears, but now after sitting in storage for a few months, it is slow at times in reverse, and it will not upshift into D. I have not serviced it, inspected the module, adjusted bands or changed the filter screen. I would strongly suggest doing a through servicing before putting the car back on the road. There is NO grinding of gears. No rear end, axle or bearing noises. Some of the items I have serviced were:

* Rebuilt brake master

* New water pump

* Replaced tires

* Serviced the coolant system

 * Replaced battery

* Rebuilt starter

* Had new ignition key cut with original blank

* New spark plugs

* Replaced BOSCH cap, points and rotor

          This fintail starts immediately, idles perfect and runs super smooth. The original twin ZENITH 3V carburetors are perfectly synchronized and work perfect, with no stalling, coughing or surging. NO overherating issues whatsoever, no leaks, no engine knocks, noises, flat cam, rod bearing or crank noises, hot nor cold. The engine is SUPER.

                 The body is in very good condition for its age, with NO rust in, under or around the car. There are some small areas where the paint is chipped, yet the body is solid and RUST-FREE, as any California car should always be. There is noted age and wear to the original alpine-white finish, and although it still looks ok in most areas, it will need to be refinished. No fading in the roof or hood.  It would It would probably clean up even better with a good polishing.

It still has original MBZ steel wheels, upgraded to 14", not the early tiny 13"s, with original full-size MBZ hubcaps. The tires are nice radials with approximately 90% tread left.

             The interior upholstery is in fair condition, showing most wear as expected on the bottom of the drivers seat. Some splits and such, as pictured. considering it is unrestored and nearly 60 years old, it is not terrible. The hard-to-find dashboard is in remarkable condition. There is NO cracking or chipping of the windshield in front or rear, and all four windows ( including the wing windows) roll up and down fine.

                Overall, it is a very solid, totally restorable W111 Mercedes Benz 230 S, with the classic fins and the beautiful twin semaphore lights. I have priced the car to sell due to my impending deployment, and would like for it to find a loving MBZ home that will restore it to its glory.

The car is currently registered here in CA, until January of 2014. It has a CLEAR title, with on issues. I am the SECOND owner of this heckflossen. Previously to me acquiring ownership, it was owned by a gentleman since new who had passed away about three years ago. His estate was liquidated by the family through MICHAANS Auction house, whom I purchased the car from.

I shall be glad to assist /coordinate delivery of this heckflosse anywhere nationwide or overseas, at the most economical shipping rate available ( I will do this at their cost; I do not charge any additional fee to do so. You pay the shipper upon delivery /arrival of the car to your destination).

         Should you be the winning bidder, I would like to receive payment within THREE business days. PLEASE ensure that your funding source is in place prior to placing a bid. Method of payment can be a cashiers check or money order.

Personal, business, C.C or annuity checks may be accepted, but must clear funding first, prior to any transportation arrangements being made. Additionally, a bank wire transfer can be made to my local CHASE Bank branch in San Mateo. It simplifies the process considerably and allows for faster shipping and delivery of the Benz to your destination.

 Finally, PAYPAL may be an option, if previously arranged with me, prior to placing a bid, and prior to the end of the auction.

PLEASE be sure to ask any and all questions prior to placing a bid, and the conclusion of this listing.

We are all adults here. I do not wish to waste anybody's time or cause aggravation, and I treat all serious inquiries and bidders with respect. I only ask for the same in return. That means, do not ask questions like "the dimensions of the glove box", the " color of the air in the tires" , or silly stuff like that. That shows lack of seriousness and maturity on the person inquiring, and I will not respond.

         If you would like to inquire, I will be glad to discuss the car in further detail, please feel free to call me at (650) 430-4660 between the hours of 11 am and 8 pm PST. PLEASE, no later; I also work and have small kids.

Thank you for your interest~!

    Paul di Resta returns to DTM with Mercedes

    Tue, 21 Jan 2014

    Some drivers manage to make the transition from one form of motor racing into another, and some run into trouble. Take Paul di Resta, for example. The promising young Scottish driver dominated Formula 3 racing in Europe in 2006, then moved over to Germany's hugely competitive DTM touring car series where he finished second in 2008, third in 2009 and first in 2010. But things didn't go as smoothly for Paul - cousin to retired Indy champion Dario Franchitti - when he moved in to Formula One with the Force India team.
    In three years on the grid, he failed to score a single podium finish. Little surprise, then, that Force India opted not to renew his contract for this season. Left without a ride, di Resta is now going back to DTM with longtime supporter Mercedes-Benz, testing the new C-Class touring car today in Portugal. It's good news for Mercedes, which is celebrating 120 years in motor racing this season and, with 2005 champion Gary Paffett also on board, can now count two former champions on its DTM roster.
    We wouldn't count Paul out of F1 for good, though. When he won the DTM title four years ago, he was also moonlighting as Force India's test driver, and we wouldn't be surprised to see him pull similar double-duty with the Mercedes F1 team (or another Benz-powered outfit) this year before spring-boarding back into grand prix racing in the future. At 27 years old, he may not have been the youngest driver on the grid this year, but he's still got a good few years ahead of him.

    Aston Martin signs Letter of Intent for technical partnership with AMG

    Thu, 25 Jul 2013

    A little over two months ago came reports that Daimler and Aston Martin were in talks, again, about "supply and technical-cooperation agreements." The next step has been taken with Aston Martin announcing that it has signed a Letter of Intent that looks "towards a technical partnership" with Mercedes-AMG GmbH, and the two companies aiming to have definitive agreements done by year's end.
    While it will get to use certain electric and electronic components from AMG, the true golden egg for the maker of the Vanquish will be the ability to develop a new line of "bespoke V8 powertrains" that will be fitted to "a new generation of models." In return for opening up the larder, Daimler will get a non-voting stake of up to five percent of Aston Martin.
    Nothing else is being said about the tie-up for the moment, but there's a press release below with a few more details.

    Mercedes testing C-Class plug-in hybrid modes in Germany

    Wed, 07 May 2014

    Testing appears to be underway for what would be the first Mercedes-Benz C-Class with a hybrid powertrain. We can see a pair of the prototypes undergoing testing in Germany, with one, a C-Class Wagon, still heavily clad in camouflage and featuring a more noticeable outlet on the passenger side of its rear bumper.
    There's also a more production-looking sedan, which features a not-so-discreet flap over its rear-bumper outlet. It's difficult to speculate on power outputs for this fuel-sipping C-Class, although our spies seem to think that this car will feature some combination of a four-cylinder gas engine with an electric motor, although just which four is unclear (note, we wouldn't mind if MB fit its 2.0-liter turbo with some batteries and motors). Regardless, the four-pot/electric motor seems like a pretty reasonable combo, although it probably means that Mercedes won't be challenging the six-cylinder-powered system of the BMW ActiveHybrid3 any time soon.
    When the plug-in C-Class arrives later this year as a 2015 model, it will likely offer a full range of driving modes, including both gas or electric, only, as well as a more traditional hybrid mode.
