I am selling a 73 Mercedes Benz. The car has 65000 miles on it. The engine is locked up. Bought it as is in hope of repairing the engine but I don't have time or money to fix it. The interior is in excellent shape. The seats are leather and almost like new. I have all four original hub caps, they match the paint of the car. Took off car because it was sitting and I didn't want them to be stolen. I also have the hood emblem, which was also removed but will be sold with the car. (The emblem was not broken and can easily be put back on the car.) Has all four matching tires which are in good shape, there is also a spare which is in good condition. None of the windows are cracked. The dash has two cracks, one above the instrument cluster and one above the glove box. Instrument cluster is all original. It also comes with original tape player and radio.

The car was driven down to Wyoming from California. The engine locked up on the owner and he sold it an audio repair shop so he could get back home. It sat there for two years before I bought it. The paint still looks great except for clear coat coming off on the trunk. We believe the paint job is the original as it matches the hub caps. As far as we know the transmission is in good shape but we've never had the car running to be sure. All of the original parts are there, including everything from the engine. We started to pull the engine out but still have everything we took off.

It would make a good project car or parts car or good to restore to its original. The only problem that we know is wrong with it is that the engine is locked up.

Buyer is responsible for shipping. Would be willing to meet half way for a fee.

2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S Wagon is one hot hauler [w/video]

Thu, 28 Mar 2013

Mentioned at the debut of the redesigned Mercedes-Benz E-Class back in January, Mercedes has finally pulled back the curtain on the E63 AMG S, which was on display at the New York Auto Show in wagon guise. The 2014 E63 AMG S ups the ante even more from a "base" E63 AMG, improving the car's performance and styling - not that it needed help with either to begin with.
Our favorite S-model upgrade is the added output tweaked out of the 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 577 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, which represents a substantial gain of 27 hp and 59 lb-ft of torque over the stock E63. In wagon form, the E63 AMG S can run from 0-60 miles per hour in just 3.6 seconds and hit an electronically limited top speed of 186 mph. All 2014 E63 AMGs come with Mercedes' 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, but the S-Model adds in a limited-slip rear differential for improved performance.
Mercedes has made sure that the extra money being spent on the S-Model is instantly noticeable with slightly different design cues and black along with 10-spoke wheels with red brake calipers peeking through. Plenty of silver-chrome and high-gloss black accents finish off the exterior styling, while the interior adds Alcantara on the steering wheel, accent stitching on the leather and contrasting silver seat belts on models with the black interior. Daimler employees can set email to auto-delete during vacation

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

The Internet has shrunk the world in terms of the way people communicate by making it possible to send an email from Oslo and have it show up in Cleveland almost immediately. But that instant contact has wrecked the work/life balance for many. They get home from a long day at the office, yet they can never fully put their feet up and relax because another hour or more of checking and replying to emails awaits. However, German automotive giant Daimler is putting an end to that churn, at least while its employees are on vacation.
About 100,000 Daimler employees in Germany are eligible to opt-in to a new program called Mail on Holiday, according to The Atlantic. When the workers go on vacation, they can switch it on, and the service auto-deletes all of their incoming email. "Our employees should relax on holiday and not read work-related emails," said Wilfried Porth, board member for human resources, to The Financial Times as cited by The Atlantic.
Mail on Holiday puts a thumb on the scale of work/life balance in favor of a little more free time. The system means that Daimler employees shouldn't even be tempted to check their email on vacation because there's nothing there - and it also avoids them coming back from a relaxing holiday only to find a mailbox packed full of hundreds of unread messages. These days, people are absolutely obsessed with their work, often to the detriment of their health, not to mention spending time with their families and friends. On one hand, Mail on Holiday sounds like the sort of vacation breakthrough we'd need to truly unplug and unwind, but on the other hand, it makes our skin crawl just thinking about the lack of communication. Popular Science magazine's Best Of What's New 2012 all ate up with cars

Tue, 20 Nov 2012

Popular Science has named the winners in its Best of What's New awards, the victors coming in the categories of aerospace, automotive, engineering, entertainment, gadgets, green, hardware, health, home, recreation, security and software. The automotive category did not go wanting for lauded advancements:
Tesla Model S: the Grand Award winner for being "the standard by which all future electric vehicles will be measured."
BMW 328i: it's 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gets called out for being more powerful and frugal than the six-cylinder it replaces.
