This is a relist due to my buyer having a hardship at the last minute. The buyer did pay me a deposit in which he allowed me to keep for my trouble so he did the right thing. No hard feelings but I do need to sell my 240d. I have 4 cars and my HOA is about to start fining me. SO PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL YOUR DUCKS IN A ROW AND PLEASE ASK ALL QUESTIONS BEFORE THE AUCTION ENDS>> THANK YOU!!!

For Sale is my very nice 1979 Mercedes 240d. It has under 177k original miles. trip meter still works as well.  It was a one owner car for 33 years. Owned by a Mercedes only family. Garage kept and well maintained. All books, most service records, window sticker, tools, original unused spare and untouched first aid kit.

Interior is excellent with no cracks and very little wear. Headliner is great and visors are intact and not broken like most. Carpet is still very very good. Exterior is original and has nice chrome and paint. A few rock chips here and there. But still very nice original paint. Shines up pretty well and I bet a good polish would even bring the shine out more. Just check out my link to the photos. they tell the story

Manual window car (yes!) Sunroof works well, power antenna works perfectly and is hooked to a Kenwod CD stereo with 4 good working speakers. Sounds decent. This car has no vacuum issues what so ever. Power locks hold for days at a time. Car turns off instantly with turn of the key.  Rear defrost works slowly and the rear light dash switch works too. All dash lighting is working. The clock keeps perfect time. Starts easily when cold and instantly without a glow when warm. Runs, drives and shifts perfect. Kickdown switch for 1st gear works everytime. New Dunlop tires with about 3000 miles on them and they are wearing perfectly. Front end is tight with newer upper control arms. She tracks pretty straight with only a little on center play typical of this vintage w123. NEW alternator, radiator (5/31), fresh coolant (5/31), new belts (5/31) and battery. Fresh oil service with new fuel filters and air filter. There are no leaks on the ground but it does have typical seepage around some of the gaskets. This not unusual for a car this age. I am getting around 25 mpg combined city/hwy. It does not smoke very much at all. Passes the blowby test easily. This is a strong motor with lots of long life ahead. Timing chain was checked for stretch when the valves were last adjusted and it is in spec.  Needs a/c compressor. The blower and heat work perfect along with all other controls. Hard to find one in this condition and I have owned 5 of these. I know what to look for when buying a W123 chassis. It's a good price for the condition. $4250. Give me a call....Title in hand Joe 7o6 5o8 3963

Call 7o65o83963 and ask for Joe if you have questions. If I do not answer please leave a message or text will work to. I will be glad to answer and question I can.

Aston Martin and Mercedes-AMG formalize technical partnership

Thu, 19 Dec 2013

The development of a partnership between Mercedes-Benz and Aston Martin has been a long time coming. The news dates back to 2008, and over the five years since was supposed to lead to a rejuvenation of both the Maybach and Lagonda brands. That program ultimately fell apart, but the tie-in was forged afresh in July when the two automakers signed a letter of intent over a renewed partnership. And now that partnership has been formalized.
In a deal just announced, Mercedes-AMG will build a new V8 engine for Aston Martin that will power a new generation of luxury GTs for the British marque, presumably to replace the 4.7-liter V8 in the Vantage. The relationship appears to be similar to the one already in place between AMG and Pagani, only in this case, will involve Daimler taking as much as a five-percent stake in Aston Martin and an observer seat on Aston's board.
The technical partnership is also set to lead to the supply of electric and electronic systems, and could incorporate "additional areas of cooperation in the future." Whether that will include a fresh attempt at reviving Lagonda remains to be seen, as does the future of Aston's long-serving, Ford-based 6.0-liter V12 engine. But for now you can read the full announcement below.

In Which Mercedes' Sprinter Becomes A Long-Distance Sherpa
In the wintery wilds of northern Alaska, even the cute little critters want to kill you.
As I am about to nod off on my long leg flight from Minneapolis to Anchorage ahead of driving to the Arctic Circle, the friendly twenty-something Alaskan knitting furiously in the seat next to me pauses and says, "When you're driving up there, don't open your windows." In the dead of winter? I hadn't planned on cruising alfresco, but her warning to keep the glazing snugged against the weatherstripping is one I would take to heart. She continues: "If you leave 'em open, a fox is liable to jump right in. There are lots of rabid foxes up there, and they leap into your car and just Go. To. Town." And here I was, thinking that a curious bear or maybe an ill-placed moose in the road was going to be my biggest potential four-legged threat. In the wintery wilds of northern Alaska, even the cute little critters want to kill you.

2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series [w/video]

Fri, 15 Nov 2013

The biggest misconception about the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series is that it's simply a higher-performing version of the SLS GT - a closer look, or better yet, a few hot laps on a high-speed racing circuit, reveals that is anything but the case.
Launched in the States in mid-2011, the standard SLS GT is a 583-horsepower, all-aluminum, gull-wing coupe with performance that positions it near the top of the exotic segment. While the AMG team at Mercedes-Benz could have left it alone, their experience with the SLS AMG GT3 race car said there was room for improvement, so they devised the SLS Black Series. The transformation from SLS GT to SLS Black Series is extensive, with no fewer than 17 different significant enhancements.
The engine mapping, crankshaft, connecting rods, valve-train, intake, exhaust and cooling are all modified and the engine's redline bumps up from 7,200 to 8,000 rpm, which pushes output of the hand-built 6.3-liter V8 to 622 horsepower. The power steering receives a new ratio, a coil-over AMG Adaptive Performance suspension is installed along with underbody braces, the track is widened, two-piece carbon-ceramic brakes replace iron rotors at each corner and a lightweight titanium exhaust is fitted beneath. The AMG Speedshift seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox is modified and an electronically controlled AMG rear differential lock ensures the power goes to the pavement. Last on the mechanical upgrades are new lightweight forged wheels (10x19 inches front and 12x20 inches rear) wrapped in special R-compound Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires.
