This car started its life in Ohio.  At some point it traveled to Washington State and in 2008 I bought the car and shipped it to North Carolina.  The car comes with the original owners manual as well as the maintenance logs from 1994-2003 and 2008-present.  I have spoken to the previous 3 owners to get the cars background and I keep the car in my garage.  I bought the car to be a daily driver and after some work, that is what it was, up until now.  I am selling the car due to the fact I just have too many vehicles and something has got to go.  This is a great vehicle and I have driven it for years to work, If you want to buy it and drive it across country go for it.  Gas mileage isn't great, but you will look cool.

These are the things I have done to the car when I got it at 134,521 miles in March of 2008.
New Alternator
K +N air filter
Spark Plugs
Rear brake pads, rotors and calipers
All Fluids flushed and correct
Replaced Lower L control arm
Timing chain
Chain tensioner
New plug wires
rotor
Oil pan gasket
Camshaft oil tubes
fuel filter
fuel line
water pump, thermostat, fan clutch and radiator cap
speedometer cable
power steering hose
driver and passenger front window regulator
New master cylinder and reservoir
front shocks
engine shocks
steering dampner
front sub frame mounts
shifter bushing
cut out all rust and repaired with por 15
Paint

The car currently has 148000 miles on it.  Here are the things that need work

I disconnected the horn,  I believe somewhere in the column a wire is touching.
I have new oak window trim for the front, but have not put it in yet.
the front dome light doesn't work
the rear sidelight needs to be rewired
the passenger visor needs a clip
the A/C blows, but I have no R12 so I took off the compressor belt, when I replaced the all the belts.  Belt comes with the car.
The radio works, but only turns up to 93 FM
Windshield washer button.
Needs an alignment, the front left tire is wearing quicker than the others, could use new front left tire, others good.

Everything else works on the car.  It starts, stops and works like it was meant to.  It will easily cruise 70 on the highways.  The car comes with extra parts, manuals and tools.  My family loves this car and we want to give it a good home.  I am happy to discuss any issues with you.  Just one thing to remember, its a 1972 Mercedes and it is a marvel of engineering, but it does need love and caring.  If you can work on old cars or have the means to keep up the maintenance, this is the car for you.  A true classic.

If you need more pictures or have question please contact me.  There is no reserve on this car.  High bidder wins, and is responsible for transportation.

Chris Harris and David Coulthard wring out a Mercedes Fintail at the N"urburgring

Thu, 17 Oct 2013

If there's one thing we've learned from the latest video from Drive, it's that the combination of Chris Harris and David Coulthard will produce some very quotable moments. Take this exchange, for example.
DC: "We are by some way the slowest."
CH: "But we're in a class of three cars, apparently."

Mercedes Sprinter updated to take on Ford Transit, Ram ProMaster

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

By the end of this year, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter will be the second-oldest nameplate in its segment here in the States, but with hot new competition waiting in the wings, Mercedes-Benz is giving its hauler a freshened look and more equipment to stave off rivals. The Sprinter was a pioneer in bringing Euro-style delivery vans to North America, and it's inspired others to transplant their Continental offerings, with the all-new Ford Transit and Ram Promaster models launching shortly. It will also continue to do battle with lower-cost traditional competitors like the Chevrolet Express and Ford E-Series.
The big Sprinter will thus get a new look to go with more safety features and available technology. While the information released here technically covers the Euro-spec 2013 Sprinter (which goes on sale in September), the US market is expected to get the new Sprinter for the 2014 model year with many of the same features. Some of this new technology includes a Crosswind Assist feature as standard equipment and the availability of Collision Prevention Assist and Blind Spot Assist as optional safety measures - Mercedes-Benz says that all three are firsts for any van in the world. Also added to the updated Sprinter is a new 1.8-liter supercharged gasoline (or CNG) engine producing 156 horsepower, which will complement the line of diesel engines that carry over and help make the Sprinter the first cargo van to meet the upcoming Euro VI emissions standards. Additionally, a lower ride height is said to improve fuel economy and should improve handling while aiding ingress and egress for both people and cargo.
In terms of styling, the Sprinter's new face also looks more like the current line of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars. This includes a more upright grille along with changes to the hood, headlights and bumper that lend it a closer kinship to models like the CLS-Class and the updated E-Class. The Sprinter will offer both halogen and HID headlights, while the latter will get LED running lamps and offer Highbeam Assist. The images shown here only reveal the exterior from front angles, but it looks like few, if any, changes have been made to the rear of the van. Interior upgrades include a thicker steering wheel, a new shift lever and the latest in audio, navigation and entertainment systems. Scroll down for the official press release for the new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.

Paul di Resta returns to DTM with Mercedes

Tue, 21 Jan 2014

Some drivers manage to make the transition from one form of motor racing into another, and some run into trouble. Take Paul di Resta, for example. The promising young Scottish driver dominated Formula 3 racing in Europe in 2006, then moved over to Germany's hugely competitive DTM touring car series where he finished second in 2008, third in 2009 and first in 2010. But things didn't go as smoothly for Paul - cousin to retired Indy champion Dario Franchitti - when he moved in to Formula One with the Force India team.
In three years on the grid, he failed to score a single podium finish. Little surprise, then, that Force India opted not to renew his contract for this season. Left without a ride, di Resta is now going back to DTM with longtime supporter Mercedes-Benz, testing the new C-Class touring car today in Portugal. It's good news for Mercedes, which is celebrating 120 years in motor racing this season and, with 2005 champion Gary Paffett also on board, can now count two former champions on its DTM roster.
We wouldn't count Paul out of F1 for good, though. When he won the DTM title four years ago, he was also moonlighting as Force India's test driver, and we wouldn't be surprised to see him pull similar double-duty with the Mercedes F1 team (or another Benz-powered outfit) this year before spring-boarding back into grand prix racing in the future. At 27 years old, he may not have been the youngest driver on the grid this year, but he's still got a good few years ahead of him.
