1972 Mercedes 250c Coupe Project Non Running Rare Small Bumper on 2040-cars
Madrid, Iowa, United States
I picked this Mercedes small bumper 250C coupe project up off Craigs List 3 months ago and now we are moving so it needs sold or crushed. It is a Fred Flintstone car, needing floor pans for sure. Trunk seems OK. It is straight with no dents. This car is special for it's loaded nature. It has power windows, Becker AM/FM. rear window defrost, leather wrapped steering wheel, leather seats and so on. Nicely equipped. I bought it off craigs list in Minnesota and transported sight unseen. It has a flawed Minnesota title. The buyer last, never transferred into his name and once it was on the way to me, and he had his money, he couldn't care less so it's a flawed title needing bonding, but I have the last known title to the car. I have not been able to raise the hood because the latch cable is no good. But I have looked underneath and it is complete. This is a rare and desirable small bumper 250C, and as a 1972, low emissions impact car. True hardtop. For the Mercedes collector. I can be reached at 515-520-2611 (Bryan) if questions. Car is getting dumped guys, honestly. It will be crushed if no one wants it. ebay charges $55 for an auction now, I am starting at $100 so market will decide but I have well over $1000 in this cool Mercedes project car. Becker radio, and condition and usage of parts are well worth $1000, BUT would prefer a restoration buyer. Thanks |

Mercedes mulling Renault-based entry-level X-Class?
Sun, 17 Mar 2013Somewhere in between the Smart brand and the all-new A-Class (pictured above), Daimler is said to be readying a smaller entry-level product for the Mercedes-Benz brand to compete with models like the Audi A1. According to AutoBild, Mercedes-Benz will get a new hatchback based on a platform from its recent partnership with Renault-Nissan, and it could be called the X-Class.
Expected to debut by 2018, the Mercedes-Benz X-Class could be offered in sedan, hatchback and crossover variants, and it would likely have a starting price below the $20,000-euro mark. Power would come from either a 1.0-liter inline three-cylinder engine or a 1.5-liter inline-four, and the car would likely be built in a low-cost nation in order to make the financials work. Wearing the Mercedes-Benz name, the X-Class would have to exhibit more distinguishable luxury and styling to set itself apart from the models that helped provide its underpinnings.
AMG-powered Aston Martins still years away
Mon, 16 Sep 2013After flirting for several years, Mercedes-Benz and Aston Martin have finally tied the knot. Just don't expect to see any offspring to result from the union for at least three or four years.
This according to Auto Express, which spoke with Daimler chief Dr. Dieter Zetsche at the Frankfurt Motor Show last week. AE reports that a new range of AMG-developed turbocharged V8s, transmissions and electrical components will make their way into the successors to the current V8 Vantage and DB9, but that these models are still a few years off.
Purists might balk at the thought of a Mercedes-powered Aston holding true to the brand's heritage. But while David Brown (for whom the DB range is named) may have steered clear of shoehorning in Detroit muscle into his cars, the entirety of the company's current range is powered by engines borrowing technology from Ford, and that arrangement seems to have worked well for Aston until now. And if you're still skeptical, look no further than Pagani and its AMG-sourced engines and you should have all the proof you need that the new relationship between Daimler and Aston could be a success.
Daimler names Bernd Pischetsrieder to supervisory board
Mon, 14 Apr 2014Some executives in the automotive industry stay with one company for their entire careers, while others bounce from one to the other, often leaving their indelible mark on each automaker at which they serve. Bob Lutz is certainly an example of the latter. So is Lee Iacocca, having presided over Ford and later charing the Chrysler board. Carlos Tavares was chief operating officer of Renault before being nominated as chief executive at PSA Peugeot Citroën. But as far as the Germans go, nobody's jumped from the leadership of one automaker to the next quite like Bernd Pischetsrieder - especially now that he's been named to the supervisory board of Mercedes-Benz parent company Daimler.
An engineer by training, Pischetsrieder started his career at BMW in 1973, eventually rising to the office of CEO after twenty years. There he remained until 1999, only to be dismissed after orchestrating BMW's takeover of the Rover Group (of which only the Mini brand remains in the company's portfolio, the other brands having been sold off after his dismissal).
The next year he was named chairman of Volkswagen's Seat brand, and rose to the chairmanship of the entire Volkswagen Group two years later. Despite a largely successful four-year tenure (that gave birth, incidentally, to the Bugatti Veyron), disagreements with supervisory board chairman Ferdinand Piëch saw him leave the helm at VW AG, focusing his attention on the Scania truck division. He's since been touted as a potential chief executive for Opel and for Continental, but neither potential was apparently realized.
