1967 250 Se Euro Mercedes Benz on 2040-cars
Nampa, Idaho, United States
Thank you for your interest in my Vintage Mercedes 250SE! I purchased this car last year for restoration. But sold my house and no longer have a garage to work in. So it needs to go to a new home asap. This car is for sale locally and I can end the auction early. This is a very original, solid and rare surviving example of a 1967 Mercedes 250SE – Recently voted the #2 most collectible vintage car out there right now, this is a classy, appreciating classic. This particular car is exceptionally valuable in my opinion for it’s remarkably original and well-preserved condition with absolutely no rust whatsoever (other than some small patches of surface rust on the body… Which could have easily and cheaply been ‘glossed over’ before offering for sale but I believe this car’s value is better preserved and more honestly displayed by still wearing its original paint). … This car is also a rare 4-speed manual transmission car, giving it a surprisingly sporty feel and setting it in a class apart from the usual automatic cars. The Car also has an amazingly low 119,000 original KM (the European odometer reads in KM, not miles, so the car has only 119,000 KM, which is about 74,000 miles!) I believe this is original and supported by the original service booklet in the car. Everything on this car works, and there are no apologies or excuses here, short of it’s shabby and faded original paint. BODY/ EXTERIOR : As you can see, the original Aubergine (Dark Purple) paint is faded in the big flat areas: Mainly the front hood and roof. The sides and fenders of the car will actually shine up nicely with a buffing. I believe this car could get away with having only those panels re sprayed in order to look great, if you did not want to pay for a complete re-paint. BUMPERS are perfectly straight with perfect chrome and no damage whatsoever. Lights and lenses are all good and work as they should. Glass is all intact, clear and has no cracks or chips. Windows (manual) all wind up and down easily, and do not leak wind noise or rain. As you can see, car has rare and valuable European covered headlights- dramatic and look excellent. With some new paint this car is going to be a real looker! There is some surface rust where the paint has chipped on the hood and the roof. This is in face just surface rust and will wipe away with some steel wool or fine sandpaper, and will easily be fixed with a paint job. There is no chassis or ‘deep’ rust anywhere on the car including in the trunk or spare wheel well. INTERIOR/ DASH/ HEADLINER : This is where this car really stands out! It appears that the interior may have been done sometime in the past because it is very close to perfect. I would rate the overall interior presentation at a strong 7 or 8 out of 10, ‘10’ being reserved for a show-winning perfect car. The headliner is perfect and clean with no tears or sagging. Door panels all look excellent and are clean. Carpet is the original expensive (and long-wearing) German basketweave Sisal and looks great with no damage. Seats are original and equally excellent. Wood is getting a little bid faded, but still looks great and has a nice glow to it. Would be easy to remove the wood trim and refinish it. Original steering wheel is a dramatic piece all by itself and is original and looks great. All dash switches work and look great. ORIGINAL BLAUPUNKT RADIO is still present and working great. Car also have original air conditioning, and all vents and switches are present, although A/C compressor belt has been removed. Compressor still turns by hand easily (is not seized). It appears dash and door cap tops have been re-covered at some time in the not-too-distant past and look great also with no tears rips or cracks. Sun visors are even in great shape as is center console. MECHANICALLY, It has a freshly-rebuilt mechanical fuel injection pump put on the car, only a few hundred miles ago, It could use a tune-up to the car as well. Even from cold, car starts right up on the first twist of the key and settles into a nice smooth idle. It takes a couple of minutes for the old girl to warm up and have full power at full throttle, but that is to be expected with 45- year old technology! Engine sounds and runs great and has no funny noises or smells or other issues. Warms up nicely and does not overheat. Has no leaks at all. Clutch feels good and strong and does not slip. Transmission shifts smoothly into each gear. Car is geared very low, so it accelerates quickly to freeway speeds, but honestly, gears are pretty short for modern travel. Car will go 100 plus MPH, but it is happiest around 65-75. The ride is very smooth and quiet, amazing really for a car of this vintage. Brake calipers all look pretty new as do rotors, and brakes work perfectly with no pulling, pulsing or squeaking. Very solid feel to the four-wheel-discs. Everything on the car works as it should and all lights and glass are good. All gauges work well. Heater works well. INTERIOR: Steering wheel looks great but does have two small cracks. All wood is there and looks very good, but varnish is beginning to fail. In order to be a show car the wood would have to be re finished. It is all there though, and in my opinion looks a 6 or better out of 10 with a nice warm glow. Carpets look good still and seats and door panels look absolutely great. Car has most of its original sales literature including the birth certificate from the Mercedes factory showing all the option codes. Car even has an almost-complete original tool kit as well. NOTE ON IMPERFECTIONS: known small imperfections are : front seats were kept covered, but on the edges of the passenger seats where the cover exposed the edges there are two sun damaged spots which you can see in the photos. The front bumper has a very small ding near the passenger side headlamp, The back window ledge sisal has a small burn. The vinyl that is re-done on the dash and door top panels is lifting in a spot and the rear passenger side door top panel the edge of the vinyl is lifting off on the bottom edge . |

Mercedes to roll out S65 AMG Coupe in July
Mon, 07 Apr 2014We're still a couple of weeks away from the public debut of the new Mercedes S63 AMG Coupe at the fast-approaching New York Auto Show, but already we're receiving word of an even more powerful version in the works. That, of course, would be the S65 AMG Coupe - the twelve-cylinder version of the latest S-Class Coupe, two-door counterpart to the S65 AMG sedan and replacement for the outgoing CL65 AMG.
Like the four-door version rolled out back in November, the S65 AMG Coupe would be distinguished from less powerful vehicles (which, lets face it, is just about everything) principally by its engine: a massive, 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 that produces 621 horsepower, 738 pound-feet of torque and cares as much about global warming as an oil-shipping mega-tanker.
Because Merc's 4Matic all-wheel drive system can't handle that much torque, the ne plus ultra coupe would (like the S65 sedan but unlike the S63 coupe) be offered only in rear-drive form. That means it will have that much more trouble getting the power down to the road, but since the Magic Body Control suspension is similarly incompatible with 4Matic, the flagship coupe will get that trick suspension.
2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 still lights our fire
Wed, 06 Mar 2013The current Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG may be in the autumn of its years, but it's still one of our very favorite sport sedans. Ever. Yes, its paddle-shift transmission may not always follow orders, but with stupendous levels of thrust from its charismatic naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8, ebullient rear-wheel-drive dynamics and that noise, we frankly don't care that it's getting on a bit.
As a sendoff of sorts for the current generation, Mercedes-Benz has just introduced a new Edition 507 model at the Geneva Motor Show, with 507 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque - an increase of 56 horses over the standard car. Mercedes credits the substitution of low-mass internals from the SLS AMG gullwing for the power bump, a tactic shared with the AMG Development Package upgrade that has been subsumed by this Edition 507. 0-60 is quoted at 4.1 seconds and top speed at 174 mph.
The Edition 507 borrows its aluminum hood from the C63 AMG Black Series Coupe, along with spidery new 19-inch wheels in either titanium gray finish or matte black with shiny rim flanges. As seen on our gallery car above, a sports striping package is also featured, as are glossy black grille, daytime running lamps, spoiler and mirror caps.
Autoblog drives to the Arctic Circle
Fri, 22 Mar 2013In Which Mercedes' Sprinter Becomes A Long-Distance Sherpa
In the wintery wilds of northern Alaska, even the cute little critters want to kill you.
As I am about to nod off on my long leg flight from Minneapolis to Anchorage ahead of driving to the Arctic Circle, the friendly twenty-something Alaskan knitting furiously in the seat next to me pauses and says, "When you're driving up there, don't open your windows." In the dead of winter? I hadn't planned on cruising alfresco, but her warning to keep the glazing snugged against the weatherstripping is one I would take to heart. She continues: "If you leave 'em open, a fox is liable to jump right in. There are lots of rabid foxes up there, and they leap into your car and just Go. To. Town." And here I was, thinking that a curious bear or maybe an ill-placed moose in the road was going to be my biggest potential four-legged threat. In the wintery wilds of northern Alaska, even the cute little critters want to kill you.
