All the numbers Match on this vehicle other than the hood which was either repaired or replaced at some point.
I purchased this car 2 years ago.
It was fully restored 20 years ago and then sat in a garage in Virginia.
So I had a lot of good to work with.
My wife loved the color and we bought it. But she regrets buying a manual transmission and wants me to find her an
automatic.
The engine and transmission had been rebuilt before & a many new parts were restored and
preserved.
I have an organized folder with all the parts purchased from the MB USA Irvine Classic Center and
all the different repairs and shops it has gone thru.
Different systems rebuilt and upgraded:
1- Braking System: New Master Cylinder, Front calipers rebuilt, new shoes and pads installed front and back as well
as
two new rear brake cylinders.
2- Suspension: All steering arms, bushings, shocks and bearings replaced.
3- Tires: 4 new BF Goodridge 3" white walls installed
4- Electrical: New Alternator with all wiring cleaned up and new light bulbs installed inside and out
5- Differential: Rebuilt, with new original boot as well as all four axel bearings replaced.
6- Water Pump New, with New Water Pump Housing & Radiator was rebuilt into a 4 core high density with new
thermostat and hoses.
7- Manual Shifter: All the bushings for the shifter have been replaced.
8- Both doors: latches were replaced and the entire car has working locks with original keys that match the data
card
9- Convertible top is in great condition with the rear plastic window is shiny and clear.
10- Fuel Injection Pump -Rebuilt by Fairchild Industries.
11- New Fuel Pump, Gas tank was rebuilt, & Full Major Tune Up, Valves have been adjusted, new wires, plugs, cap &
rotor & oil change.
I spent around $25,000 in parts and did most of the work myself, but also had a few different
Mercedes specialists help me restore this car.
This car has some rust issues. I spent $2500 and repaired the front end rust that made it safe
and in the future: This car will need a paint job and the rest of the rust dealt with.
This is a car for someone who wants to enjoy a turn key reliable convertible and in a few years
when the value exceeds $100K, the only thing it will need is a nice paint job.

YouTube's Super Bowl commercial buzz list dominated by automakers [w/videos]
Thu, 31 Jan 2013After Sunday's big game, YouTube will be the place to watch every commercial that you missed when you left your seat for an emergency guac refill or, as we say in Cleveland, took the Browns to the Super Bowl. That makes YouTube the nation's water cooler on Monday, and it's got some preliminary stats to share in the lead up to kickoff.
As you know, Super Bowl advertisers, particularly automakers, like to endlessly tease their big budget commercials in the weeks before the game, many times revealing them outright days in advance. Because of this, YouTube can tell us which commercials have been viewed the most so far, and their top five list is all automakers.
Kaley Cuoco appears to have been a good investment for Toyota, as her ad for the RAV4 has garnered the most YouTube views - six million and counting - among Super Bowl commercials so far. Second place goes to Mercedes-Benz, though not its actual Super Bowl commercial, but rather the teaser for it. You know, the one with Kate Upton and the car washing, which is up to 5.6 million views. Third place is Audi's Prom commercial (3.3M views), fourth goes to Volkswagen's slightly controversial Get In, Get Happy ad (3.3M views), and the fifth and final spot is bookended by the teaser video for Kaley Cuoco's commercial (3.2M views). You can watch all five in order below.
Mercedes-Benz Concept GLA gets official ahead of Shanghai
Thu, 18 Apr 2013Mercedes-Benz has something special planned for the Shanghai Motor Show - a new CUV concept that we first saw when it leaked on the internet yesterday. The GLA Concept compact crossover will hit the show stand with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive, and likely previews a new production model that we've already spotted testing.
That's not news, but the laser-based headlamps with video-projecting capability certainly are. Mercedes-Benz says the array can project any image or video onto a screen, which is handy since there are a pair of HD cameras mounted to the roof rack. The cameras can be removed and taken with you on all sorts of adventures. The lamps also feature a visible cooling system comprised of a series of fans, and the system helps give the headlights their "sparkle" effect.
Step indoors and the GLA offers up the interior of a high-quality crossover, complete with contrasting leather and plenty of aluminum. The automaker says the cabin was inspired by saddle craftsmanship with "more than 65 feet of hand-stitched seams to hold the raw edges of the leather together."
Mercedes was set to sell version of Nissan Titan, now Infiniti might instead
Wed, 18 Sep 2013Mercedes-Benz Titan. Mercedes-Benz Frontier. Mercedes-Benz pickup truck. None of these things roll off the tongue particularly well. We'd like to think that's the reason Daimler opted to kill the idea of rebadged Titan and Frontier pickups from corporate ally Nissan. In reality, the execution before the Frankfurt Motor Show was due to more complicated issues.
Yes, Mercedes, byword for German luxury, style and quality, would have slapped a three-pointed star on a pair of Japanese pickup trucks that have failed to resonate with consumers in the world's largest truck market. That slapping of badges isn't much of an exaggeration, at least on the outside. According to the report from Road & Track, the truck's front clip would have been tweaked, but beyond that, the sheetmetal would have been unchanged. The interior would have received a more thorough going-over by the team at Mercedes, while the suspension and noise, vibration and harshness tuning would have also received significant attention.
The trucks would have ended up being sold through the light-commercial branch of Mercedes-Benz - the same folks that will happily sell you a Sprinter van - had the deal gone through. Issues arose, though, first with the engines. Mercedes wanted a wider range of powertrains to allow it to tune models for specific markets, while Nissan said it couldn't engineer the wide variety of engines that MB wanted to drop under the hood. For the smaller truck, meanwhile, MB was interested in a hybrid or plug-in variant, according to R&T, although this was also shot down by Nissan.
