2003 Mazda Speed Protege

Turbo
5 Speed
108k

This auction is for my 2003 Mazda Speed Protege. It's a 5 speed car w/ 108k miles. The car runs and handles extremely well. The turbo spools up and really adds that extra kick. The car has a much stiffer suspension than the regular Protege with my thicker sway bars and stiffer springs and shock. It is still a very solid daily driver, just w/ the added benefit of a more planted suspension.

The car has had a good bit of recent maintenance completed in the last 100 miles:

  • New Poly motor mounts
  • Sway bar mounts
  • Sway Bar End Links
  • New tires
  • New O2 sensors
  • New spark plugs and coil packs
The car has 108k miles on it. The AC was just recharged, the heat is fully functional and it has a Sony CD/MP3 Player installed. Factory Fog lights and spoiler. The body and paint look great, w/ the exception of the rear bumper where the paints clear coat has cracked. (see pictures) The bumper itself is in no way damaged, just the paint.

The interior has the 2 tone seats, front and rear. They are in great shape w/ minimal bolster wear. No tears or stains. Some mild steering wheel wear is present, but its nothing terrible.

Outside of that, the car is fantastic. Its always had synthetic oil used, and the oil has been changed every 3,000 miles. It's ready to be driven anywhere!

Additional pictures of the car can be found here:  2003 Mazda Speed Protege Album ;

Mini Cooper Countryman only small car to earn good grade in latest IIHS crash tests [w/video]

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

Competitors in the small-car segment didn't do nearly as well. Four vehicles earned "poor" grades.
Only one small car out of 12 tested earned a good grade in the latest round of crash-test results compiled by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The Mini Cooper Countryman received a "good" ranking on the organization's small-front overlap test.

Mazda sells 10 millionth car in the US, does something special

Wed, 23 Oct 2013

When Lauren Carter of Glen Ellyn, IL was in the market for her first car, she went for a Mazda3. Not a bad choice, but not necessarily remarkable on the surface. After all, Mazda sold 123,361 of them here last year alone. What she didn't know was that the car she bought was the 10 millionth Mazda had sold in the US over the course of its 43-year history here, since selling its first rotary-powered R100 here in 1970.
Rather than let the occasion pass with nothing more than a press release (like the one below), Mazda gave Lauren a brand-new 2014 Mazda3 to replace the 2013 model she had bought. Which is a nice gesture, of course, but also enables Mazda to hold on to the landmark 10,000,000th car in its heritage collection.

Mazda CX-5 getting mild refresh

Thu, 14 Aug 2014

Mazda has found both critical and commercial success with its CX-5 small crossover, and seems to be endeavoring to keep the momentum up with an upcoming refresh. As you can extrapolate from the obvious lack of the usual camouflage, the company isn't reinventing anything in the very near future of the CX-5, but it does seem as thought some tweaks are in the works.
Lighting elements fore and aft appear to have gone under the knife, with the front grille and rear fascia also seemingly to be slightly revised. The side mirrors now look slicker and slightly more upscale with their integrated turn signals, as well.
In all, expect a look that's a touch fresher, without being a radical departure from the existing visage.
