Fully Restored 1999 Mazda Miata - New Clutch/tranny/cloth Roof/brakes/tires/batt on 2040-cars
Orlando, Florida, United States
This is the second generation Miata you have been looking for! This is a perfect example of 1999 fully restored to its original factory glory. Interior is amazingly clean and the paint job is still in great shape. GARAGE KEPT! Air conditioner blows ice cold.
If you are looking for a sports car for track days or autocross events look no further. This car has a professionally installed roll bar designed to fit the tallest of drivers. It also has an upgraded front sway bar and very grippy sport wheels and tires. The engine has been meticulously maintained with all fluids changed somewhat obsessively. Before buying this car I drove many 99 Miatas. The first thing you will notice with this car is how responsive the engine is and how well it drives. This was the finest example I was able to find in all of Florida. This car was my baby and I put over $8000 into it restoring it. No modifications have been made, all new parts were factory stock parts. I replaced the clutch, transmission, wheels, tires, brakes. I replaced the old vinyl roof with a brand new cloth roof with glass window. This car is extremely easy to maintain. With manual windows and top, no motors to wear out or brake. This car gets great gas milage and is quite simply a joy to drive. The only reason I'm willing to part with it is I have upgraded to a newer convertible. |

Mazda goes on engineer hiring binge as recovery picks up speed
Mon, 10 Mar 2014Japan's larger automakers - companies like Toyota, Honda and Nissan - have tremendous engineering talent at their disposal. That's largely because, selling as many cars as they do, they've got more revenues to tap into. Logic might dictate, then, that smaller automakers like Mazda, which no longer has the deep pockets afforded to it by its former partnership with Ford, might have less of a budget and workforce for engineering. But Mazda has been raking in record profits, and it plans on cashing those revenues in by hiring a substantial new pool of engineers.
According to Automotive News, Mazda is preparing to hire as many as 185 new engineers over the next two years - almost four times as many as the 50 engineers it previously targeted. Many of those engineers will be put to work developing the second-generation, Skyactiv 2 technologies that are on the drawing board while the first round of Skyactiv features are still being rolled out.
The boost in recruitment is enabled by a positive fiscal year that ended last March, marking the first profits Mazda had logged in four years. Sources anticipate that the fiscal year culminating at the end of this month will mark the company's most profitable yet, netting over a billion dollars to eclipse the fiscal year that ended in 2008 when it recorded $872.5 million in profits.
Mazda CX-5 getting mild refresh
Thu, 14 Aug 2014Mazda has found both critical and commercial success with its CX-5 small crossover, and seems to be endeavoring to keep the momentum up with an upcoming refresh. As you can extrapolate from the obvious lack of the usual camouflage, the company isn't reinventing anything in the very near future of the CX-5, but it does seem as thought some tweaks are in the works.
Lighting elements fore and aft appear to have gone under the knife, with the front grille and rear fascia also seemingly to be slightly revised. The side mirrors now look slicker and slightly more upscale with their integrated turn signals, as well.
In all, expect a look that's a touch fresher, without being a radical departure from the existing visage.
2016 Mazda CX-5 keeps it simple
Wed, 19 Nov 2014Take a long, hard look, folks. This is the refreshed 2016 Mazda CX-5, which makes its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show today. And if you're thinking, "Say, that looks just like the old one," you really aren't alone. The visible updates certainly aren't major - Mazda has instead focused on giving the already-good CX-5 some thoughtful upgrades to make it a more attractive package than ever.
Outside, there are some slight changes to the styling, including new LED light signatures at the front and rear, as well as redesigned foglamp housings. Uplevel models also ride on attractive new 19-inch alloy wheels, with a dark finish.
Under the hood, it's all the same. Mazda's Skyactiv 2.0- and 2.5-liter four-cylinder engines carry over, with 155 and 184 horsepower, respectively. Front-wheel-drive, 2.5-liter models get a small bump in fuel economy, too - the CUV is now rated at 26 miles per gallon city and 33 mpg highway, up from 25/32. Models equipped with the automatic transmission now benefit from different drive modes, as well.
