1999 Mazda Miata Mx5, Convertible, 5-speed, A/c, Cruise, Rear Defrost, Green on 2040-cars
Dilworth, Minnesota, United States
We are selling our 1999 Mazda Miata MX-5 convertible. Transmission is 5-speed and shifts smoothly. The A/C blows cold air, cruise is steady. Within the last 4 years we've put on new tires, clutch, convertible top with glass window and defrost. We put leather seat covers on in 2012 as the originals were starting to crack and it was crazy expensive to reupholster or replace them. Paint is good with only very small flaws typical for a car its age. Carpet is good but the 2 original Miata floor mats show wear. The interior cover for the fuse box is missing unless I get it replaced before selling. This car runs real nice and looks great. I also have a full cover we use when in the garage that we'll throw in the deal. We are selling simply because we do not get use out of it like we should. I cannot arrange for shipping so buyer needs to take care of that. We are about 250 miles west of Minneapolis on Interstate 94. I want $250 when the bidding is done in my Paypal account within one day and the balance in cash at delivery. Other arrangements must be cleared by me first. Title is clear in my possession. I am a private seller so the buyer has to pick the car up or arrange for your own shipping. I have the Miata advertised elsewhere also so I reserve the right to cancel this ad anytime if it sells. I'll do whatever I reasonably can to make this a smooth transaction. My reputation on Ebay is excellent and I wish to maintain that rating. Good luck. You'll enjoy it. You can ask questions through Ebay which I will allow to be published, or call me at 701-371-6158. I'm not a mechanic but I'll attempt to answer any questions if you don't get too technical. Dennis

Toyota, Honda, Nissan and more collaborating to increase fuel efficiency
Sun, 25 May 2014Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Suzuki and Daihatsu have announced an alliance that will see a push to improve fuel economy from both gas-powered and diesel-powered engines by as much as 30 percent before the end of the decade.
The newly assembled Research Association of Automotive Internal Combustion Engines put the roughly $20-million project together, with the Japanese government committing to half the cost while the eight manufacturers will chip in the rest.
According to Automotive News, the automakers will team up and share basic research on internal-combustion engines in a bid to cut costs. Eventually, the results of the research will find its way into a production vehicle, although it's unclear just when we'll see the fruits of this partnership on the road.
Consumer Reports digs Mazda3, disses Jeep Cherokee
Tue, 11 Feb 2014Consumer Reports has just rendered its verdict on two of the more important cars to launch this year - the Mazda3 and the Jeep Cherokee. Considering the value a "Recommended" rating carries with the public and the viciously competitive markets these two cars compete in, Consumer Reports' view could have some impact on their initial success.
For Mazda, that's a good thing. CR spoke quite highly of the Zoom-Zoom brand's compact sedan and hatch, testing both models, and citing the excellent fuel economy and snickety-snack manual shifter as high points. Downsides to the 3 included a ride that is agile but "nervous," a bit too much noise and a cramped back seat. Still, the 3 was good enough to earn its place in the ranks of the "Recommended."
The Jeep didn't fare quite so well, with CR calling the polarizing CUV "half-baked." Although both engines were tested, the magazine called the 2.4-liter four-pot underpowered and its nine-speed automatic unrefined and unresponsive. That's particularly damning, considering the 9AT's role in future Chrysler products, including the extremely important 200. Overall, the Cherokee missed out on the coveted "Recommended" rating.
Xcar tries to figure out what makes the Miata so great
Tue, 12 Aug 2014Over the past 25 years and 3 model generations, the Mazda MX-5 Miata has shown that you don't have to be the best to be a massive success. The little, Japanese roadster has never been the absolute peak of automotive performance, but it's precise handling, good reliability and frugal running costs have helped make it a star. Autoblog recently tried to give you the experience of driving one on video, and now Xcar Films has made its own in an attempt to show what makes this droptop an icon.
As Xcar puts it, the Miata isn't the world's best sports car, but it is the world's favorite. When they were originally designing the roadster, Mazda's engineers took everything that made British droptops from the '60s great, and junked all of the stuff that made them a terror to own. The result was a car that would start up everyday with no fuss and get drivers wherever they needed to go with a huge grin on their face.
The fourth-generation Miata is imminently on the way for its September 3 unveiling, and the very early rumors indicate that Mazda doesn't plan to rock the boat too much with the latest one. It supposedly rides on a longer wheelbase and wider track but with the weight trimmed by over 200 pounds. Check out Xcar's video for a primer on MX-5 history and why the automotive world loves this little roadster.
