Year:1996 Mileage:60398 Color: is in good condition overall
Location:

Winfield, Kansas, United States

Up for auction is my 1996 Mazda Miata M edition with only 60,398 miles.  Production was limited to only 2968 M Edition Miatas in 1996 and had the highest base sticker price of any NA Miata at $24,760.  Paint color is factory Starlight Blue Mica.  The exterior is in good condition overall.  It doesnít have any rust and has never been in an accident, however it does have a few small dings here and there.  The paint itself is in great shape as itís always been garaged and driven as a fair weather car.  Still has the factory top which has been well cared for and still looks excellent.  The wheels donít have any rash on them, but just need a bit of scrubbing to make them look like new.  Tires are relatively new and have lots of life left.  The interior of the car is in fantastic shape with little to no visible wear.  The seat bolsters are great and the leather is in wonderful shape.  All the interior panels are excellent; no cracks or damage of any kind.  Mechanically, the car is in superb shape.  The engine purrs and doesnít have any lifter noise common to NA Miatas.  This M edition does have the Torsen limited slip differential.  Everything works just as it did from the factory.  It has power windows, cruise, fantastic AC, premium sound, CD, power antenna and power mirrors.  The car will come with the factory tan top boot and a clear title.
Please do not bid if you do not have funds ready.  I reserve the right to cancel any bidder bids if you have less than 5 feedbacks unless you contact me first.

Bauer Catfish is a Miata-based trackstar in the making [w/videos]

Tue, 25 Jun 2013 14:59:00 EST

We're not trying to make a joke here. The creation you see above really is called the Bauer Catfish, and while the name is about as attractive as your average bottom feeder, the car itself is built on a sexy notion. Take the mechanical bits of one 1990-2005 Mazda MX-5 Miata, add in a tube chassis for as little weight as possible, complete with some custom body work and go forth. Bauer says the finished product weighs in at just 1,550 pounds, and the company will be happy to pull the stock four-cylinder to drop in a healthy General Motors LS V8.
The pre-production prototype shown above competed in last year's 25 Hours of Thunderhill, finished the race and earned a spot on the podium in the "anything goes for sports racers" ESR class. Very cool.
If you're looking for a dedicated track car, it may not get any better than this for the money. Expect to pay around $13,900 depending on options, plus the cost of your donor Miata. That's a good sight cheaper than a used Chevy Corvette Z06 and likely to be quite a bit more fun. After you're done watching it in action in the brief videos below, check it out over at Bauer Ltd.

Mazda's Hofu plant builds its ten-millionth car

Wed, 28 Aug 2013 09:03:00 EST

Ten million is a lot no matter which way you cut it, and no matter what you're talking about: Ten million dollars, ten million miles, ten million people... certainly ten million cars. And that's the milestone that Mazda's Hofu plant in Yamaguchi prefecture of Japan has just achieved.
The Hofu facility has been in operation since 1982, and was supplemented with a second plant on the same site ten years later. Hofu reached a million units built in 1986 and five million in 2002. But with production now at 482,100 units per year, it took less than twelve years to double that previous milestone.
The magic ten-millionth car was a new Mazda6 (known locally as the Atenza), which is built at Hofu Plant No. 2, while Hofu Plant No. 1 gears up for the new Mazda3 (aka Axela). Scroll down below for a related press release.

Mazda begins building Mazda3 in Mexico for US

Tue, 07 Jan 2014 15:58:00 EST

With fluctuations in international currencies and rising shipping costs to take into account, foreign automakers can't get away with building cars overseas and selling them in North America as easily as they used to. Particularly with inexpensive mainstream models. And given the benefits of cheaper labor and free trade under NAFTA, many have opted to assemble their cars for the North American market in Mexico. That's why the likes of Toyota, Mercedes and BMW have all opened plants in Mexico. And now Mazda has followed suit.
Ground was initially broken for Mazda de Mexico Vehicle Operations at Salamanca in the state of Gunajuato back in 2011, but production has just now gotten under way. The first vehicle to roll off the line? A Mazda3 sedan destined for the United States. Soon, the plant will begin production of the next Mazda2 as well, selling it alongside its larger counterpart across the Americas and in Europe as production expands to 230,000 units annually. For more information, see the official press release below.
