This Porsche 550 Spyder replica is brand new with under 300 miles since finished last fall. This is a professionally built car that runs and drives flawlessly and needs absolutely nothing. It is a Vintage Spyders body and tube-frame chassis, which is by far the best available. The engine is a 2005cc CB Performance crate engine, making 145 horsepower, which is slightly more than the modified engine James Dean had built for his 550 Spyder. The car has adjustable-valving Bilstein coilovers in the rear and adjustable torsion bars in the front, so the car can quickly be set up for track days by a couple turns on the shocks, swapping the street wheels and tires for slicks, and bolting in the included SCCA- legal rollbar. It is currently set up for street driving. The stiff tube chassis, mid-engine design, 4 wheel disc brakes, and tight steering make the car an absolute dream to drive on the street. The suspension is soft enough to absorb most bumps and potholes around town, yet stiff enough to make you feel in control and predictable at speed. This car has under 300 miles on it with a professional mechanic behind the wheel. Rest assured this car is well-sorted and will be a great and reliable car for years to come. When you see this car up close in person, please take note of the incredible attention to detail, the perfect door gaps and fitment, the subtlety of the color and the quality of the paint work, and the world-class fit and finish throughout. This car was built without regard to budget using the best parts available by some of the most qualified experts in the country.

Maserati Ghibli pricing announced for UK

Tue, 16 Jul 2013

Maserati's newest car, Ghibli, is a stunningly well-proportioned luxury sedan mixing the styling of the larger Quattroporte sedan and the GranTurismo coupe. We found it plenty good to in our First Drive review, and now we know how much it will cost (in the UK, at least).
Ghibli pricing announced at the Goodwood Festival of Speed is for customers in the UK, but based on current exchange rates and prices of other Maseratis sold here in the US, we can estimate its MSRP for our market. The base Ghibli, with a twin-turbocharged V6 making 325 horsepower, will cost 52,275 pounds for the Bits, making $75,000 a good guess for American buyers. If that number holds true, however, the Ghibli would be in a price category above its main competition from Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Take a step up to the Ghibli S, sporting a naturally aspirated V8 producing 404 hp, and you'll have to fork out 63,415 pounds or an estimated $91,000 here.
Just for kicks, the Europe-only Ghibli Diesel, which makes 270 hp and 420 pound-feet of torque with its diesel V6, is the least-expensive Maserati 48,830 pounds. Running an estimated $70k for us, we'd really like to have that one, too. After all, the sparkplug-less engine is the same one found in the Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel.

Maserati orders triple on strength of Quattroporte demand in China

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

Considering Maserati sold all of 6,300 cars globally in 2012, its goal of selling 50,000 by 2015 seemed like a bit of a stretch to say the least, but it turns the Fiat-owned automaker was on to something. Reuters is reporting that Maserati has already received about 17,000 orders for cars this year, with help from the new 2014 Quattroporte and strong demand in China.
The US continues to be the top market for Maserati sales, but the report quotes Harald Wester, brand chief executive, as saying that China is now the top market for Quattroporte. As big of an improvement as this is it bears mentioning that the Ghibli isn't even on sale yet and the Levante SUV, a redesigned GranTurismo and a new 911-fighting coupe are still waiting in the pipeline.

Leno profiles Pebble Beach-winning 1956 Maserati

Tue, 26 Nov 2013

We enjoy it when Jay Leno and his web show, Jay Leno's Garage, take a look at new, modern cars. When the comedian gets his paws on a proper classic, though, he's at his best. Leno is able to display an impressive breadth of knowledge about even obscure models, and that's no different here, as the winner of its class at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, a 1956 Maserati A6G-2000 Allemano rolls into the garage.
Part of the Maserati A6 family, this A6G is one of just 21 cars produced with coachwork by Carrozzeria Allemano, making it one of the rarer cars to grace Jay Leno's Garage. It's powered by a 2.0-liter inline-six, and, as Leno points out, is far more of a road car than the race-oriented Maseratis of the day.
