If you have ever wondered what the mystique surrounding the name Maserati is, now is a great opportunity to find out.  Peoples eyes don't light up at the mention of Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, or Corvette, You can hardly drive a mile without

seeing multiple examples of the aforementioned.  Maserati is guaranteed to turn heads. It has the ultimate Italian design and style: the lines and curves make it a real object of desire.  Someone told me that the engine should not be covered

with a hood, but rather a frame as it is truly a work of art. I couldn't agree more.  I have rarely been driving and seen another Maserati, and never two on the same outing. It's very satisfying to drive and experience the Maserati mystique. If

you are looking at this listing, you probably already know what I'm talking about. This car new had a sticker price of $105K. I'm only asking about a quarter of the original selling price. The new Maserati's are being sold for $125K to $150K .

Surprisingly they garner no more interest than this 8 year old example. A Maserati is a Maserati, period. I will entertain any reasonable offer.

Maserati Levante SUV may be built in Italy after all

Thu, 05 Sep 2013

In July Fiat halted its investments in Italy, putting on hold plans for the Maserati Levante SUV to be built at the automaker's flagship factory in Turin. But Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne, whose company owns Maserati, met with unions on Wednesday, and he may announce plans to move forward with production of the SUV at the Mirafiori factory if the CEO and the unions reach an agreement, Bloomberg reports.
Marchionne is reportedly about ready to build new cars at Fiat's largest and oldest factory, on the grounds that 5,300 workers accept extended temporary layoffs through most of next year in a slowing European auto market. If unions don't accept the deal, it's not clear whether Fiat would still consider building the Levante at Mirafiori or not.
The Levante, Maserati's first SUV, is based on the Jeep Grand Cherokee platform, and we reported two years ago that it would be built in Detroit next to its Jeep cousin. Obviously those plans have been altered considerably in the intervening period of time.

Hear the Maserati Alfieri clear its throat at Villa d'Este

Tue, 27 May 2014

We know that Maserati will eventually bring a version of its Alfieri Concept to the road, as a next-generation production model slated to arrive in 2016. Shown at the Concours d'Elegance at Villa d'Este, the Alfieri wowed spectators with its throaty singing voice, releasing a few barks and a very racy idle note. Sadly, we know it won't sound exactly like this when it goes on sale.
See, Maserati is adopting a V6-only plan with the Alfieri, so the 4.7-liter V8 shown in the concept and adopted from the GranTurismo, isn't going to make be available in the production model. That's not to say the production car will sound bad - we've every reason to believe it won't - but that this isn't an accurate representation of what the 2016 Alfieri will sound like.
Take a listen and a look at the video down below, then hop into Comments and let us know what you think.

Maserati's small two-seater could arrive by 2016

Mon, 13 May 2013

As a following act to the redesigned Quattroporte and the recently unveiled 2014 Maserati Ghibli, Maserati will be releasing a slew of new products in the coming years, including the next-generation GranTurismo, the all-new Levante SUV and a new 911-fighting coupe - possibly called Gran Sport. While all of this information was detailed last year in a leaked product plan document, there were no dates associated with any of the new products. Auto Express is now reporting that the new GranTurismo will be out in 2015 and the new smaller coupe is expected out in 2016.
According to the report, the new coupe will be smaller and sportier than the GranTurismo, and it will feature a mid-engine layout with a platform that isn't shared with the Alfa Romeo 4C. This product onslaught is a part of Maserati's plan to increase sales to 50,000 units globally by 2015.
