Rust free 1974 MG Midget, great project to drive and enjoy the rest of the summer and fall and perform an easy restoration over the winter!  This is a 100% rust-free California car that was brought to the Midwest in the early 90's.  Originally blue, the car received a quickie red paint job in 1994 and then sat partially disassembled until I purchased it a few years ago.  I brought it back to life and have driven approximately 2000 miles over the last few summers.  Car is absolutely complete minus the heater ducting under the hood and spare tire.

Body - As stated, this is a truly rust-free car.  The paint looks nice and gets compliments, but was a quick job and the car is still blue under the hood.  This is not a bondoed-up Midwestern car!  The rockers, floors, and fenders are all original with factory spot welds showing.  The eraser-sized spot in the rocker photo that looks like some rust starting is only the black paint peeling.  The previous owner installed a NOS trunk lid at the same time due to the original being kinked.  On the down side, the hood shut panel is somewhat bent up (looks like typical damage from careless engine removal).  Not visible when closed, but keeps the hood from shutting quite as nicely as it would otherwise.  Paint has the usual small scratches and chips expected from long storage.  I installed new windshield glass and all seals and NOS wipers.  Chrome and stainless is very good.  Take a good look at the pics and try to recall when you last saw an unrestored RWA body this nice.

Interior - The interior was originally tan and painted black.  The dash has a coverlay installed and looks nice.  Auction includes a nice pair of black seats, a new black carpet set, a good used steering column surround, and NOS window cranks and door pulls to help get you started on the restoration.  The top is perfectly serviceable and a full tonneau and the hard to find tonneau bars are included.

Engine - The car runs excellent, compression is an even 120# across all cylinders.  Oil pressure is 65 lb cold and 45 lb at hot idle.  Installed Pertronix electronic ignition with new plugs and wires and cleaned/regasketed the carbs.  New coolant hoses.  Complete new exhaust with early-style muffler (original '74 style muffler included).  The original emissions equipment is also included, but not installed.  Engine bay is solid, but scruffy.  Needs a good cleaning and painting.

Car runs cool and will cruise at 60-65 all day long if you choose to.  More fun to be on the twisties, though!
Brakes - New brake master cylinder, calipers, rotors, flex lines, wheel cylinders, drums, shoes and hardware.  Brakes and handbrake work very well.

Transmission - Some bad news here.  Second gear synchro is very weak, although I have driven the car regularly just taking it easy and double clutching.  Other gears are fine.  A second hand transmission is included - it was purchased as "good used" and the gears look good inside though I was not able to road test it.

Electrics - Everything works!  New battery.

All in all, just a GREAT car for restoration.  It pains me to let it go, but I need the time and money for kids' tuition and to keep my TR6 on the road.  Drive it as-is, then swap out the transmission and detail the engine bay this winter - you won't find another as solid in the Midwest, I promise you!

Clear title in my name, currently licensed and insured in KY.  Located 5 minutes south of downtown Cincinnati.
