1979 Mg Midget Austin Healey Sprite on 2040-cars

Year:1979 Mileage:80000
Location:

Up for sale is this 1979 MG Midget that has been tastefully modified (In my opinion). I’ve had an unbelievable time with this little car. Just about every time I take it out I get a yell or a honk or a thumbs up from somebody. I purchased it from a guy in New York about 3 years ago, stored it in Utah for 3 months while I was finishing school, and then brought it home to California where it’s remained ever since. I've made a number of changes. The modifications include:

·      chrome bumper conversion

·      (new grille, installed MGB Indicator lights)

·      front and rear bumpers from an Austin Healey Sprite.

·      New steering wheel

·      Painted the bottom black stripes

·      Put in headers

·      Replaced rostyle wheels with Bolt-on wire wheels

·      Lowered the front 1 1/2 inches

·      After market stereo

Additionally, I elevated both seats. Despite how small the car already is, I wanted to sit higher up. I lifted the seat using steel supports and used some old textbooks to support the base on the driver side. I made sure everything I did was reversible. Some of the changes I made were pretty informal but hidden, for instance the grille is held together with zipties (pictured), and the front right bumper guard is missing a bolt, and I ziptied it for the pictures. The letters on the side were taken off during painting but I’ve kept them as well as the side trim for the right side (left side is still on)

Things this car needs:

·      Fine-tuning a few things (tighten mirrors, turn signals don’t click off automatically)

·      The front left indicator light doesn’t work

·      Rear brakelight is cracked

·      Brake work

·      Handbrake work

The brake light doesn't switch off

·      The wire wheels I put on sit wider than the stock ones and there is tire rub when you turn too sharply

·      Antenna doesn’t rise up

Missing headlight ring

·      The hood has a cracked paint spot (pictured)

·      Transmission work. The synchro is gone in 2nd gear

The seatbelts need to be bolted in

This car looks great but still needs some work. I've had a hell of a time with it. I drove it every morning to the beach to go surfing and nothing compares to a convertible in the summer. I’m selling it because I’m off at school and it just sits back home for 9 months out of the year. This car is out of registration, buyer is responsible for shipping or pickup. Included is a car cover, a small tool kit with jumper cables, and the original 79 Midget handbook. Email me with any questions.
