Classic 1964 MGB

I bought this 1964 MGB six years ago and have *throughly* enjoyed driving it. I've done regular maintenance and some upgrades to make the car more enjoyable.

The previous owner was a man from Fort Collins, Colorado. He bought the car in 1987, and spent several years restoring the car. He owned it for almost 20 years. The car was originally, and is now Tartan Red. It has the correct 18G 3 main bearing engine and head with the correct 3 syncro transmission.

This is a steel dash, pull-handle car. It runs well and drives well. It starts easily and is in a good state of tune.  The engine stays cool in stop-and-go traffic. Oil pressure is 65 pounds at idle with the engine cold and 35 pounds at idle with the engine hot. I bought the car with 87,865 miles showing on the odometer, it's now at 93,354. Everything works: All of the gauges, lights and accessories.

The interior is in nice condition. The previous owner had the seats reupholstered in leather with a kit from Moss Motors. Overall, the convertible top was in good condition, but it had a small cut. Last week, I had it replaced with a new Robbins convertible top. While the top was being replaced, I had the convertible top frame powder coated. New top snaps were installed on the frame at that time. The car also comes with a tonneau cover. It's in nice shape and comes with the factory rear support bar.

The car is solid and reliable. Mechanically it needs nothing. It's always gotten me where I wanted to go and back again. It recently went 600 trouble free miles during a 3 day weekend in the Colorado mountains. It did the same, twice last summer.

The body is in nice condition and the paint has a great shine. The car has spent most of its time since the restoration under a car cover in a garage. The paint looks nice, but it's not a show car quality paint job. The underside if the car is clean and solid. The floorboards are solid. There is no rust on the frame or anywhere on the car. The rocker panels are solid metal and pass the kitchen magnet test.

Two years ago, I installed a thermostatically controlled Hayden electric radiator fan. At the end of last summer, the brakes were serviced.  The front rotors and pads were replaced with new parts from Moss Motors. The rear received new brake shoes and drums (also from Moss). This spring, the steering rack was rebuilt. This summer, I replaced the heater control valve and  the washer fluid reservoir with new parts. I recently replaced the distributer cap, rotor, points, condenser, plug wires, spark plugs and air filters with new parts from Moss Motors.

The tires have very little wear. They were replaced shortly before I bought the car. The spare is an older Dunlop radial. The car comes with a factory MG jack and the correct type of MG lug wrench. Also included: the Workshop Manual and MG Owners Manual.

I bought this car intending to keep it a very long time, but recent divorce has forced me to consider selling my favorite toy. I've replaced the parts needed and have done a few modest upgrades (listed above) to the car to make it more enjoyable to drive.
