1980 Mgb Roadster W/overdrive - Amazing Original Condition Survivor on 2040-cars
Palatine, Illinois, United States
1980 MGB Roadster Completely Original Factory Condition Survivor with 54995 original miles. Body Exterior: Completely Original Factory Paint is in superb condition. There is no rust on this car and it has never been in an accident, not even a bumper touch as they are perfect. The bonnet and front of the car does not have even one stone chip as the owner never drove the car without the bra but never stored the car with the bra on so the paint is amazing. This car was undercoated with some kind of Zebart in the door panels as there are the plastic plugs. There is one small body malfunction on the trunk where the trunk fell on the support and the paint cracked and the trunk is slightly dented. This car was equipped with a very heavy chrome luggage rack. The support was not engineered just right and this was a common problem on these cars. The trunks works great but does need a small repair job. The trunk can be easily taken off and worked on to fix the problem. The owner had a body shop blend in the cracked paint and the applied a rust inhibitor material and there is no corrosion in this area. I took a pic of this singular flaw in the body for your inspection. Headlights have chrome stone guards in perfect condition. There is no sign of and pitting on any chrome or trim on this car. Pristine!!! Mechanicals: This engine purrs like a kitten and the oil pressure is over 70 psi at idle, The engine was equipped with emissions equipment and passes the Illinois Emission Testing ( last Passed Test paperwork documentation is in hand ). The owner did all maintenance schedule items as are required by the owners manual including, tune up, oil and grease, valve tappet adjustments, distributor, filters, hoses and belts. The clutch was replaced and the brakes have very low miles on them, very tight. The brakes feel very strong without any squeaks. The clutch and transmission work very smooth and the overdrive is working perfect. Mileage: The mileage shown is the real miles driven on this car. This speedometer had not spun around past 100,000 miles like most MGBs that are for sale. Electrical: Every electrical component is working on the car. Newer battery. Suspension: The suspension and front end has been maintained, is very tight and the steering is amazing. I can take my hand of the wheel at 60 mph and there is no pulling or any drifting. Newer Michelin Tires on wire wheels all around and on the spare. Very solid exhaust system. Interior: Standard black interior with factory vinyl bucket seats. Dash board has no flaws and the door panels are awesome. Carpet is very good. The driver's seat shows some normal wear that 54000 miles of driving would create. No major tears or degradation. Equipped with and newer Alpine AM/ FM / CD system with 4 speakers and an Ipod plug in for Itunes. Convertible top was recently replace for 850.00 and professional installed. Windows are perfect no stone chips at all on windscreen. Brand new Bosch triple premium wiper blades. Car Comes with: Tauneau Cover, Bra, spare tire, jack, and hard cover owners manual. History: Car was purchased new in 1980 and the owner died in 2006 and the car was passed on in the family. This car has been stored in a heated garage and was never driven in the rain for 34 years. It was always driven in the summers only and only on fair weather weekends. I know this sounds like the little old lady from Pasadena story but one look at this car and there is no other explanation for it’s condition as a 34 year old super survivor. Since 2006 the car was driven less than 30 times by Mary and her husband. They always took the battery out for the off season and the car was not sitting on the wheels for 6 months a year. When I talked to them about driving the car, they canceled because it was going to rain that day. According to them the car has never been driven in the rain. If you inspect the car this will be apparent. Why I am Selling: I love MGBs and have owned 4 for over a 40 year period. I bought this car as a extra car to drive when my daughter is in from college so she can drive my car. After recently purchasing this car, my son pointed out to be that this car is a very special property and it would be a sin to just use it as a driver. I felt guilty after coming out of the hand car wash yesterday and today I realized I was driving the car in the rain for the first time. That is when I made the decision to sell this beauty so it can be preserved by someone who wanted to preserve it as an investment instead of driving it a lot. I also want make a little profit as my daughter is a freshman in college and tuition is high. If you are a real lover of MGBs and love to drive them and experience the road in a classic sports car, this car is Nirvana. I have looked at a lot MGBs over the years and have never ran into the like of this one. Truly remarkable, A fully restored MGBs can sell for 30,000.00 and up. The only thing stopping this car from that status is 2 new leather seats, a small repair to the trunk and a new paint job. The problem is that the paint job is so good and well preserved that I think it may be worth more not to repaint it and leave it original. That is what Wayne on Chasing Classic Cars would do!!!! LOL There is no reserve on this car!! If you have any questions you can call me to talk about anything concerning this ebay sale!!! Rick Cell phone 847 641 0276 after 10 am CST. This car is also for sale locally and I reserve the right to cancel this auction within the rules of Ebay. This car purchased today is an investment. 1980 was that last year of production for the B. In a few years from now I believe if this car is continued to be maintained in the original condition that it just may become the best survivor MGBs in the world. The person who owed this car was a freak and obviously has a passion to it's preservation from the day he purchased it new. The person who has a matching passion for a super preserved car please step up, you won't find one like this againany time soon!!! |
