Offered for your consideration and at NO RESERVE is this extremely nice, one owner, low mileage, with overdrive, MGB. I recently purchased this car from  its first and only owner (Mr. R. and still titled in his name) specifically for the purpose of resale (I currently own three MGB's of my own). Since the B had been used only sparingly for the past few years, Mr. R. decided it was time to sell and to make other use of the garage space. In order to make sure that this car was in optimal operating condition, I placed it in the capable hands of a qualified mechanic. Some of the key components replaced were the fuel pump (and filter), the water pump (plus thermostat), overdrive switch on top of shifter, along with various gaskets, clamps, and fluids. My total investment in these services was $1039.43. I also replaced the outside rear view mirrors (from Moss Motors) in addition to a few other detail items. This car runs beautifully. It starts right up, shifts nicely (and very smoothly into and out of the overdrive gear), steers and tracks straight, and stops very securely.  All electrical components were checked and found to be in proper working order to include the clock.  The body is laser straight showing no dents, dings, or signs of repair.

History: Mr. R. purchased this MGB as a new car gift for his wife from Harper, Porsche-Audi located in Knoxville, Tn. on April16, 1981 (have copy of the original bill of sale plus a copy of the loan paper). The sticker price was $8795.00 and the purchase price was $7400.00 (odometer reading was 086). The car was used very sparingly and mostly as a fair weather driver in the Knoxville area for the better part of the next twenty years. At some point in the early part of this century, Mr. R. and his wife moved to the Daytona Beach area of Florida. Somewhere around this time Mr. R. decided to have the car refreshed. He placed his wife's pride and joy in the hands of a capable body shop and invested, by his own guesstimate, $12,000 in a total makeover. The MGB was disassembled and repainted (including all jambs plus the underside of the hood and deck lid) in its original color (carmine red), new windshield glass and rubber seals were placed, new top with zip out rear window was placed over a freshly painted bow assembly, a complete new interior kit was installed (Victoria British #16-333-85 biscuit $1,995.94), new sun visors with passenger side mirror, new stainless steel side moulding kit, plus all new exterior lighting fixtures (side markers, tail lights, and headlight trim rings). The car was originally equipped with a radio but at the time of the refresh it was not working. Mr. R decided not to have speaker holes cut into the new door panels, so he opted to go radio delete, however, the retractable antenna is still present. At the time of its refresh, the MGB had approximately 41,000 miles on the odometer and today it reads 44,150 (approx). As you can tell, this car in its most recent years spent most of its time in the garage being admired and waxed only to be used on rare and special occasions. Did the refresh make the car too nice to drive? In recent years this MGB had its radiator replaced along with a set of new tires (175/R70-14 with about 500 miles on them) plus oil changes at the proper intervals, etc. As probably noticed from the pictures of the engine compartment, this car had its original carb/emission set-up replaced by a Weber carb along with a ceramic coated header. This combination makes this engine perform extremely well.

Summary:This sale presents a rare opportunity for the right person to purchase this extremely nice, almost show quality, one owner, low mileage, turn key, and fun car (and with overdrive!!) at NO RESERVE and for only a small fraction of the money invested keeping this MGB in top flight condition. The timing couldn't be any better with summer prime time months just ahead. Please do not bid unless you are serious about buying and don't hesitate in asking questions. It will take only one bid to become the new owner. This car is being sold where is/as is without warranty either written or implied. Payment in full must be received by the seller either by bank check or by wire transfer or by cash in person within five business days after conclusion of the auction. In the case of payment by bank check, the car will not be released for pick up or transport until the funds have cleared my bank. Transport is the sole responsibility of the buyer, however, the seller will cooperate with the arrangements made. Happy bidding and good luck!
