A supercar for a super price!  There's just nothing like a Twin Turbo Lotus Espirt...  Looks the part and performs just as well.  I've owned this vehicle for almost a year and it is a well sorted daily driver.  Extras include keyless entry with alarm system, MOMO steering wheel, upgraded tail lights (to 2002 style), aftermarket exhaust, new clutch, new timing belt, tinted windows, new tires, and custom SAF forged alloy wheels.  Yes, SAF forged wheels!  These are not cheap and look great!!  Recent oil change and spark plugs. The standard removable glass sunroof is included.  The pictures tell the story!  Car runs and sounds great.

Clear title is in hand so sh'es ready for a new home. If you wish to arrange a test drive, you must be financially pre-qualified.  The vehicle is located in Wilmington, NC at present.  Ask questions or inspect her before you bid as I am moving and need to make one and only one successful sale. $1000 deposit is due within 48 hours of winning bid and payment in full with title transfer should be within 7 days for our mutual benefit.  The car is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to cancel the E-Bay bid if I find a local buyer.  Vehicle is sold "as is" with no warranty which is typical for used cars sold by a private individual.  I won't export outside the US, so transportation if needed is your responsibility and expense.  Zero or low feedback bidders must contact me in advance.

Please call with questions as I am happy to answer!  My name is Kirk and my phone number is area code (nine one zero) 352-5945 / kirkmuffley at yahoo dot com although it is not OK to email or call me with solicitations.  I am also selling my second 1997 black Lotus Esprit if you are interested in two (or have a color preference)!  Pictures and details on the black one via email or phone upon request.

She needs a good home!
Happy bidding.

Lotus Exige V6 Cup takes extreme to the extreme

Mon, 14 Jul 2014

What separates a road car from a race car? You're looking at it. It's the Lotus Exige V6 Cup, a model based on what is already one of the most hardcore performance machines on the road, albeit upgraded to an even harder-core spec. It's a good 130 pounds lighter than the Exige S (a vehicle which didn't have much flab to trim in the first place) and can hit 60 in under four seconds. With the notably exception of certain versions of the Porsche 911, there aren't a lot of six-cylinder cars that can claim that kind of performance.
In fact, the Exige V6 Cup is so close to race spec that it's already eligible for a number of racing series. Just bolt in the removable FIA-certified roll cage, maybe swap on some slick tires and you're good to go. Then you can drive it home again when you're done, just like in sports car racing's heyday. But don't take our word for it: the team over at XCar took the V6 Cup to the UK's Goodwood circuit to see how it compared to the Exige S it recently drove, and you can view the stirring results in the video below.

Lotus Exige S Roadster coming this summer to a circuit near you

Wed, 01 May 2013

We haven't heard much about the Lotus Exige S Roadster since we first saw it at the Geneva Motor Show last year, but Lotus is now confirming the car will go on sale this summer. Of course, unless anything has changed since the car was introduced, Lotus' "ultimate roadster" will still not be coming to the US.
Lotus has released a new video showing its 345-horsepower roadster in action, and while it doesn't even show that much of the car, you can check out our live images of the Exige S Roadster in our gallery. The video, which looks like a knockoff of a Universal Studios movie trailer, is posted below.

Lotus stepping up to LMP1 in World Endurance Championship

Tue, 18 Feb 2014

Only a couple of years ago, it looked like the top tier of prototype endurance racing was in trouble. Peugeot shut down its program, leaving the LMP1 category all to Audi to dominate. Only six cars entered the Petit Le Mans in 2012, and the season was cut short. But the top class in the FIA World Endurance Championship has since blossomed. And it only looks poised to grow further.
Audi and Toyota will each be back on the grid this season, joined by Porsche. But the latest news has Lotus stepping up to the big leagues also. (Well, sorta: the German-run squad uses the Lotus name and colors, but has no more to do with the automaker than the Formula One team of the same name.)
The Lotus LMP1 will be based on the same Lola-based T129 chassis used until now in the LMP2 class, with former F1 driver Christijan Albers leading the driver lineup. In addition to Audi, Toyota and Porsche, the solitary Lotus entry will also compete against privateer Rebellion Racing in a nine-car LMP1 grid throughout the season.
