UP FOR AUCTION IS A 2005 LINCOLN TOWN CAR LIMOUSINE. IT WAS CONVERTED BY FEDERAL LIMOUSINE COMPANY. I'VE HAD THIS LIMO FOR A LITTLE OVER A YEAR. I HAVE USED IT FOR PERSONAL USE DURING THAT TIME. THE CAR HAS 355,000 MILES ON IT. THERE IS MINIMAL RUST ON THE OUTSIDE, BODY IS IN GOOD SHAPE. THIS CAR FLOATS DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 80MPH. VERY SMOOTH. IT HAS THE EXTRA LONG 5TH DOOR. THIS IS A VERY NICE OPTION TO HAVE. IT MAKES IT VERY EASY FOR EVERYONE TO EXIT THE LIMO. THE PASSENGER AREA IS VERY NICE AND HAS LED LIGHTS AND FIBER OPTICS. TIRES HAVE A LOT OF TREAD LEFT. I HAVE PUT OVER $7000 WORTH OF WORK INTO THIS CAR IN THE LAST YEAR. BECAUSE THERE'S NO PASSENGER SEAT, THE CAR MAKES 5 SETS OF 5 BONGS EVERY 30 MILES. IF YOU INSTALL A NEW SEAT, THE BONGS WILL GO AWAY. THE DRIVER'S WINDOW GOES SLIGHTY OFF THE TRACK WHEN GOING UP. THIS CAR IS IN GOOD CONDITION AND I WOULD DRIVE IT ACROSS THE COUNTRY WITHOUT EVEN WORRYING ABOUT IT. KEEP IN MIND THIS IS A 9 YEAR OLD CAR AND IT IS NOT PERFECT. Lincoln says MKZ supply crisis over
Mon, 25 Mar 2013After an excessive number of recalls on the 2013 Escape and Fusion, we can't really fault Ford for being a little extra cautious with the launch of the 2013 Lincoln MKZ. Last month, we reported that dealer supply of the car was extremely limited due to more attention being paid to quality checks of cars rolling off the assembly line, which led to a 73-percent drop in MKZ sales from last year on top of a 32-year low in monthly sales for Lincoln in January.
The reason for the delay was that the sedans were being shipped from the Hermosillo, Mexico assembly plant to be inspected even closer at Ford's Flat Rock, Michigan plant before they were able to head to dealers. Things seem to be straightening out for Lincoln and the MKZ's production now, as Automotive News is reporting that supply should be up to a "normal level" by the end of this month.
Ford rethinking vehicle launch strategy
Tue, 07 May 2013With a new boss at the helm, Ford is looking at new ways to improve its vehicle launches in North America to prevent recent issues that have popped up with models like the Lincoln MKZ, Ford Escape and Ford Fusion. Speaking with Automotive News, Ford's new president of the Americas, Joe Hinrichs, revealed a few ways the automaker plans to avoid early build issues such as the engine fires on certain 2013 Escape and Fusion models and months-long delays for customers to receive their MKZs.
It sounds like the root of the problems may have been Ford's relationship with suppliers compounded by the fact that the product surge came on the heels of the recent industry-crippling recession, and in the AN article, Hinrichs says improvements are being made to reduce problems during the launch of new or redesigned models. Three such improvements that were implemented during the first quarter of this year including more rigorous quality comparisons, better use of computer technology to catch major problems sooner and hiring engineers to work closer with suppliers.
Lincoln bringing in MKZ Hybrid over rollaway risk
Mon, 30 Dec 2013Federal safety standards require that every new car needs to have the brake depressed in order to shift it out of Park. But the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has found fault in the transmission range sensor on certain examples of the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, allowing the car to be shifted out of Park without first depressing the brake. The fear is that with this condition, affected vehicles may be unintentionally pulled out of Park, resulting in a possible rollaway. That safety concern has prompted parent Ford Motor Company to issue a recall.
The issue pertains to 7,153 examples of the MKZ Hybrid built between April 26, 2012 and September 24, 2013, covering the 2013 and 2014 model years. As a result, Ford will notify owners to bring their MKZs into their local Lincoln dealer to have the Powertrain Control Module software updated in order to rectify the problem.
