At the behest of my father, I am helping him sell his 1999 Lincoln Executive Series Towncar. The car is in good mechanical condition and was given a clean bill of health in an inspection report completed back in November.
The car has some scratches and dings on it but still runs quite good. Tires have 30,000 miles on them and still have tread and there is a full-size spare tire in the trunk. The car has never been smoked in - the upholstery is clean, well-cared for, and is in good condition. There is two keys and two functional remotes that will come with it.
Here is a run-down of the cosmetic issues that are all indicated in the pictures:
-Shallow dent at bottom of right rear door
-Rust beginning on edge of right rear and front wheel wells
-Some rust in both front door handles
-Moisture in right headlight cover
-Scratches below driver’s window, on housing of driver’s rearview mirror and on front and rear bumper guards.
-Some corrosion on tire rims.
This is an Executive Series and it comes with tons of bells and whistles, all of which are still working. Both backseat passengers have their own ashtrays and lighters, and the amount of space back there is incredible. The center front console folds up and there is a seatbelt there that actually allows for the seating of SIX people. The trunk is massive even after it swallows the full-size spare and the ride that comes from the classic Town Car suspension is as smooth as they come.

Lincoln video teases new things to come... but what?
Sun, 02 Dec 2012Lincoln has released a new video teasing... something. In what looks to be an advertisement for more advertising, the company has worked up a clip featuring everything from a drum solo and a flying hawk to Abraham Lincoln himself. The video shows a few shots of what looks to be an MKZ and promises more news is coming on Monday.
What does the company have up its sleeves? Rumors are bouncing around the web like so many ill-informed ping-pong balls, and cover everything from an alternative powertrain for the MKZ to a new two-door model - noise that is underscored by the presence of a Ford Mustang chassis lurking in the background of the video around the 27-second mark (see screen capture above).
Could Lincoln be considering a rear-wheel drive luxury coupe built on the pony's bones? A move like that seems awfully unlikely, but it certainly wouldn't hurt our feelings. Either way, we'll find out more tomorrow. In the interim, check out the teaser video below for yourself.
Lincoln debuts MKC ads starring Matthew McConaughey
Fri, 05 Sep 2014Lincoln is making the decisive commitment that it wants to improve its brand perception going forward. It can't be cheap to hire A-list talent like Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey and director Nicolas Winding Refn, best known for Drive, for its new ad campaign for the 2015 MKC crossover, but the company is showing that it's serious about the new vehicle and its future. The first three of these five commercials are just hitting YouTube, and they begin airing on television on September 6.
The Live in Your Moment campaign is all about Lincoln trying to sell not just the MKC to customers but also explain the brand's philosophy. It's one of the oldest luxury automakers around, but hasn't exactly had a glorious history, especially recently. Based on these first ads, we can see that there's a definite focus on philosophizing rather than focusing on the crossover. At times, McConaughey seems just a mustache and a mangled beer can away from reprising his role from True Detective.
The first ad (above) is simply titled Intro and sets the mood and concept for the whole campaign. Bull has McConaughey talking to a longhorn in the middle of a road, and I Just Like It has him explaining his affinity for the brand. How the demise of Lincoln's Town Car has kick-started a limo revolution
Sun, 30 Dec 2012The deaths of the Ford Crown Victoria and the Lincoln Town Car have meant overhauls of three high-profile American fleets: police, taxi and livery car. Just as police fleets are more open to considering other options and a Nissan van is the new face of the NYC taxi, livery car companies are looking at replacements for the Town Car beyond The Blue Oval. Ford, via Lincoln, has made an MKT Town Car (pictured), but an article in the Detroit News claims "it has failed to win over most of the big limousine companies." The upstarts trying to move in include livery and limo editions of the Cadillac XTS, and livery specifications of the Toyota Avalon and Chrysler 300.
Each of those challengers, however, faces challenges. The Town Car was a workhorse, American, rear-wheel-drive sedan with plenty of rear legroom. Cadillac has been in the livery space before but with decontented models that were about selling the brand, not its luxury. It is taking the opposite approach with the XTS, pointing out that its livery edition is "contented in the upper half of the XTS range." Still, the CEO of Michigan's largest livery company says "it's quite a bit smaller than what we're used to," and he also prefers rear-wheel drive.
The Chrysler 300 is rear-wheel drive, and American, which matters to some companies, but Chrysler hasn't yet revealed the livery package for it. The livery Avalon marks Toyota's first time getting into that business in the US, a natural step after having done so well with taxi clients and with the Town Car out of the way. Still, the livery client is a different to taxi buyers, so the Avalon could face other soft-touch hurdles.
