I AM THE SECOND OWNER OF THIS BEAUTIFUL TOWN CAR AND HAS BECOME A GARAGE TROPHY AND COMES OUT ONLY ON SUNNY COOL DAYS. TO MY UNDERSTANDING, THE ORIGINAL ENGINE AND TRANS WAS REMOVED WHEN IT WAS BRAND NEW AND A CUSTOM 460 CID ENGINE WITH A C6 AUTOMATIC AND OVERDRIVE WAS INSTALLED BY A CUSTOM SHOP, FOR FORD. THE ENGINE IS POWERFUL AND RUMBLES STRONG AND LOUD, BUT LEAVES SOME OIL ON THE GARAGE FLOOR NOW.  THIS PAINT STILL SHINES LIKE IT DID IN 1990,HAS NO RUST ON THE BODY, BUT NOT SHOW ROOM AS THERE ARE SOME SCRATCHES AND SWIRLS. THE GORGEOUS WHITE LEATHER INTERIOR IS CLEAN AS IT HAS NO RIPS OR TEARS AT ALL, AND THE ONLY FLAWS ARE IN THE CARPET WHERE THE OLD CELL PHONE MOUNT WAS AND THE HEAD LINER IN THE BACK EDGE. IT HAS ALL THE ORIGINAL LOOK AND LUXURY OF A LINCOLN TOWN CAR, WITH THE SERIOUS POWER OF A MUSCLE CAR . THE ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS WORK, OUTSIDE THE RADIO AND POWER WINDOWS. IT HAS A MATCHING SET OF MICHELIN SYNERGY TIRES AND THAT HAS LIFE LEFT.  A/C AND HEAT  WORKS GREAT. TURN THE KEY, DRIVE IT ANYWHERE. THIS IS A SERIOUS CAR FOR A SERIOUS AUCTION, GOOD LUCK!

Would a Mustang-based Lincoln look like this?

Mon, 07 Jan 2013

Designer Josiah LaCalla has taken a stab at what a Ford Mustang-based Lincoln model might look like with the Continental Mark X1 concept. Make no mistake, Ford's luxury arm has made it abundantly clear that it won't be pursuing any new products outside of volume models, which means a flashy halo grand tourer like the one you see here isn't in the cards. LaColla used the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG as a basis for his creation, which explains the long nose, but we certainly don't mind the idea of a rear-wheel drive Lincoln with a cabin pushed to the aft.
While we're dreaming, there's certainly nothing stopping us from imagining what's under that lengthy hood. We like the idea of the 5.8-liter supercharged V8 from the Shelby GT500 pushing the Mark X1 down the road, but how about something a little more inventive? Something like a high-revving, buttery V12 with enough torque to push the contraption well past 200 miles per hour. Dream a little dream, people.

Lincoln to adopt Mini-like personalization strategy?

Fri, 18 Jan 2013

There's no single silver bullet that will cure all that ails the Lincoln brand, and Ford knows that just as surely as we do. Coming out with exciting new models like the well-received MKC crossover counts as several steps in the right direction, assuming of course that the production version is as appealing as the concept just shown at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, but more is needed. According to Jim Farley, executive vice president of Lincoln, one more trick may be "mass customization."
Put another way, Lincoln is considering ways to allow buyers to customize their new vehicles right off the showroom floor, similar to how things are done at Mini, and, to a lesser extent, Scion, where Farley previously served as corporate manager. Imagine, for instance, ordering a new MKC with a large Lincoln insignia embossed into the leather seatbacks, according to Automotive News.
While we're not so sure anybody is all that interested in paying extra for more Lincoln logos, it's a strategy that has proven rather fruitful at Mini. Only time will tell if Ford's erstwhile luxury division will once again be seen as something truly worth reaching for, and if customers are willing to pay a further premium for customization.

Ford's Galhotra succeeds Farley as head of Lincoln

Wed, 23 Jul 2014

Ford Motor Company is announcing a major personnel shakeup that could have a dramatic effect on the future of the Lincoln division. Kumar Galhotra (pictured above), currently vice president of engineering at Ford for all of its vehicles worldwide, is taking over as the president of the luxury brand on September 1, replacing Jim Farley. The automaker is also hiring a new head of advanced engineering.
Galhotra has a huge job ahead of him as the new boss of Lincoln worldwide, overseeing product development, marketing, sales and service. His task is to turn the luxury division into a world-class brand as quickly as possible, and he reports directly to Ford President and CEO Mark Fields.
"These changes underscore our commitment to build on the success of our One Ford plan by accelerating our pace of progress. They also make clear we are serious about Lincoln as a world-class luxury brand and that product excellence and innovation are what will deliver growth and define our entire company going forward," said Fields in the company's announcement.
